My wife and I stayed two nights at this adorable B&B. The food was amazing, not just your average continental breakfast. It is located close to downtown, easily within walking distance. They have a lovely yard area with patio furniture which is spread out nicely so that social distancing is never a problem. Our entire stay was completely contact free. I highly recommend them.

My husband and I stayed at Martin Hill Inn for our anniversary and had a wonderful stay. We are being extremely careful with COVID, but we felt very comfortable at the Inn. The Innkeeper delivered a contactless breakfast to us in our room. In addition, there are only a handful of other rooms at the Inn so we didn't see any other guests while we were there, which we appreciated. We look forward to coming back!

Our stay at Martin Hill Inn was lovely. The room was extremely clean. We loved the sitting room in the Sea Witch. Breakfast was good and accommodated my gluten and dairy dietary restrictions. Grounds are lovely and area is quiet.

My wife and I recently stayed at Martin Hill Inn the week before Labor Day and had a wonderful stay! The location is great with a short 10 min walk into town for dining and shopping and easy access to the highway to drive north to the White Mountains for hiking. Russ was an excellent innkeeper, very attentive and an excellent cook making a variety of breakfasts that were all delicious! We stayed in the Cathedral room which the only word of advice is that this room is located at the front of the house next to the street. Road noise was minimal in the evening but more noticeable in the morning when the commute began. Other than that minor aspect we would consider coming back again!

Response from Russ Levreault, Owner at Martin Hill Inn

Thanks for the kind words. Islington Street is busy during commuting hours (7-9, 4-6), otherwise pretty quiet. If you are particularly sensitive to road noise any of the rooms in our guest house (situated on a quiet side street) would be a better choice.

I had the privilege of being the first guest in the comfy and private (complete with a fully private entrance through an exclusive three-season porch) since the lockdown. This special space has EVERY comfort of home at a time that being away from home is a special treat. Further, inn keepers extraordinarie Russ and Meg going Silkwood shower caliber above-and-beyond as to health precautions alleviate angst as to contracting covid while there. The pandemic-era tower of luxury soaps fully confirms that they truly care. A combination of fatigue after three months of challenging near isolation and active outings during my inn credible stay made merely being in this thoughtfully planned space in this place that has the distinction of being the only true B n B in Portsmouth a trip highlight. The shady and ample parking at this place a leisurely 10-minute stroll to the historic business district is a nice bonus in a city that only has cookie-cutter hotels and off-site valet parking among the funky but chic restaurants and literal and figurative boutique shops. The one-minute stroll through the relaxing garden complete with two resident bunnies and a bird-seed addicted chipmunk provides a perfect transition between the outside world and this near-Eden. ALL of this and a clear desire to awe make Russ and Meg the perfect hosts in the ONE Portsmouth hotel that reflects the seafaring past of this harbor town sans a bar wench/fine girl named Brandi.
