I’ll keep this short and sweet and focus on the bullet points. This place seems to have been recently mostly remodeled. A good thing. The room was almost spotless, almost actually super clean. A+ to the cleaning staff. The promised mini bar didn’t exist and we had to ask for a coffee machine. The beds were like sleeping on a cloud, literally. Don’t get me wrong, they were not too soft, they were perfect and no one is pickier about hotel beds than I. Also the bedding was just as great. A+ there too. Staff was attentive and friendly. Shower was strong and hot. Heat and AC was clean, fast, and strong. View of the ocean was excellent. The valet parking was excellent and only $5 more than the self-parking option. They have a cute little 24/7 hour snack shop in the lobby that seemed convenient (but at times not so well stocked). The pool area seemed clean and well maintained. Now for the “not so good” things. The fridge was a tad too small. They should have used a smaller bureau and a bigger fridge. The room design (maybe it was just my “corner” room) was poor in that my luggage carrier couldn’t make it any further inside more than a foot from the door. There is major construction/renovations still going on and it was all centered on the main entrance. Men taking half bathtubs with construction debris down the elevators into the lobby then out the front door to a lift seemed a little tacky. There is no back side area for this to happen? I’ve been in construction almost my whole life so I wasn’t bothered by it, but I did see many other people that seemed genuinely perturbed to have to deal with it or even be subjected to seeing it all happen as if the hotel was a construction site and they were smack in the middle of it no matter where they were, except when in their room. During our entire stay, the wood work was being stained and the odor was powerful to say the least. I happen to love the smell of Minwax stain, but others, openly not so much. They almost needed to pass out safety helmets and breathing gear. $30 per day to self-park across the street? Pretty steep for off-site parking. The restaurant, if it can even be called that, was horrible. Save your money. What a huge disappointment (see my review of Two-Fifty Market on here). Talk about blowing a golden opportunity. They have all the free foot traffic in the world at their feet as well as a chance at providing room service to everyone and they get an F in every category. The competition among restaurants in Portsmouth, NH is fierce, so there is no need to settle for this nightmare. Also the grand piano in the lobby which would have added a nice classy touch was never played. At least have someone playing during dinner since the restaurant and lobby are one in the same area, no? The room numbering is way off and wonky. The TV had zero options for any on-demand or PPV movies, just basic cable which was terrible although I did get to see a Red Sox game and a Bruins game on the tube. The makeup mirror in bathroom was broken in that it did not light up as designed. Curtains would not open or close all the way. They should have gone with a more “blackout” effect for those looking to sleep in. A truck seemed to empty a dumpster very loudly just under our window each morning very early. That wasn’t good. No breakfast included, not even a “continental” breakfast (not that I would have eaten anything from their 250 restaurant) and that seemed a little cheap of them. For the money we paid would it kill ya to put out a little juice, fruit and a few bagels? They had free coffee in the lobby and in the room (after we asked for it) and that was about it for freebies. All in all it was a good stay, we love the area and only use the room mainly late night. We would stay in the area again, just not so sure that this hotel would be our choice the next time, unless management wanted to comp us to make up for all of the obvious shortcomings. If the restaurant was even half decent and the construction was not going on, and the dumpster wasn’t waking me up each morning, I’d probably have given this place 4-5 stars based on the extreme cleanliness and the wonderful beds/bedding.…
Comfortable beds and pillows. Basic room. Friendly staff. Convenient walk everywhere. Mini frig in room. You have to ask for a coffee pot to be delivered to your room, but there is also complimentary coffee in the lobby.
What an incredible staff!!!! Conor in sales was wonderful and was able to make sure that our girls weekend was successful, CJ and Earl at the front desk greeted us with sincere hospitality and Brad at the bar made us laugh from start to finish! We cannot say enough about the Sheraton team. Thanks for a wonderful weekend! ~Katie, Kayla and Kayla~
We came to Portsmouth for our anniversary in October 2020 and it was wonderful! The hotel was clean and took safety precautions that made me feel safe with the staff and other guests. We had delicious room service for breakfast! The location of this hotel can't be beat. Our room had a view of the water and walking distance to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend
We stayed in a junior suite and it was dated and the living room was oddly shaped. I couldn’t figure out the shower😔, bed was lumpy and lastly the air conditioning was soooo loud! Location was good. We ate at Surf and was very good
