We stayed two nights at this RI. There were pros and cons. First the pros: Swimming pool reservations worked great. We had the pool to ourselves for 1/2 hour on both days. Breakfast lady was great. She packed us egg McMuffins, coffee, pastries etc. Room was clean and well appointed. Cons: No upgrade available even though we are Marriott Titanium Lifetime members. My wife and daughter are healthcare workers at the VA. We can sometimes get a better rate using the Federal Gov. Rate. At check-in we were told that we could not have the Gov. rate unless my wife was on official business. Earlier in the week we had stayed at two different Marriotts on the Gov. Rate and my daughter was staying at the AC Marriott 100 yards from this hotel on the Gov. Rate. These were all on personal time. I would have moved us to the AC but they didn’t have a pool and we had our two young grandkids with us. So we paid double the rate on our reservation, but we stayed only two nights instead of three. From now on we will stay at the RI near Pease Air Force base. They have two bedroom suites, free parking, a pool and better rates. It’s only two or three miles from downtown.

We have been staying here for many years and usually for a decent lengthy stay. As a Lifetime Titanium Elite member with Marriott we are entitled to an upgrade "if" available...this hotel has never offered one nor do they accommodate when asked and we have verified availability of upgrades by going on line. We don't expect something above and beyond, but getting to Lifetime Titanium is a show of Loyalty and we are simply expecting what is written in the rules for Bonvoy Loyalty Members. So even in light of that which has been a downfall for years, we still kept returning as we loved the bartender (who has since left), we love Jay who is still there, but the front desk staff is just not very helpful, knowledgeable nor do they care enough to come out from the back office to help leaving guest standing there waiting for long periods of time. There has been a lot of turnover in the front staff. They noticeably had a shortage of staff and a shortage of Housekeeping--and although the head of housekeeping was on the floors reminding people to mask up, his staff were seen in rooms with masks down, the hallways were filled with litter which was not vacuumed daily and our room upon check in was not up to anyone's expectations for cleanliness never mind Covid Clean. I hope they can fix these issues as we will not be returning until we are sure they have turned the corner to where they need to be.

Great locale for a weekend getaway. Awesome staff and clean as clean can be. The only hurdle is paying for and/or finding parking during day. Meters shut off overnight so makes a touch easier but really can be a struggle if busy weekend or other issues. Will not restrict from a return asap!

We spent 3 nights during Christmas time. We were lucky to find street parking (Free after 8PM) Fantastic location, clean and spacious room. Gina ( Front desk) was a gem. Very friendly and welcoming. Great amenities, no housekeeping service (Only per request due to covid) which was fine.

We are Marriott Bonvoy card holders and didn’t want our “free nights” to go to waste so we choose to do a two night stay in Portsmouth. Being from Connecticut, there’s not many places we can go without major concern from employers during this time but New Hampshire, no questions asked :-) and we can see why their numbers have maintained relatively low. Masks are required pretty much everywhere and people seemed very respectful of that. The hotel was clean and nicely updated. The common areas on the main level would be wonderful for family gathering, although we did not do that this time for the obvious reasons. I will say that the rooms are smaller than most Residence Inns that we stay in, but well appointed and the bathroom is a good size. We had no problem with noise like I read from other reviews but I’m also afraid that we may have been the ones making the most noise with our 2.5 year old who doesn’t know how to walk without stomping feet and plays rough with his trucks. We made dinner our first night here and had everything we needed. We had a 1 bedroom King room. No oven, but that’s fine. The fridge was nice and modern and set to a good temperature when we arrived. As people that run hot, we enjoyed that we could actually open the windows. We ordered breakfast from The Friendly Toast on a recommendation from a friend (which we pass on to reader’s here, especially the Some like it Tot) but my husband got coffee here and said they were making breakfast sandwiches to order, nice touch from the regular breakfast bar and keeps down on exposure. We felt COVID precautions were handled nicely and felt safe the whole time and I’m 7 months pregnant. Kudos to the staff here!
