We live close to Portsmouth. It is a charming wonderful city that has wonderful food and fascinating history. We decided to spend the night in and very glad to have chosen the Ale House Inn. It is well situated between downtown and Strawbery Banke. It is very easy to walk to where ever one would like to go. The staff...

Typically on vacation we stay at chain hotels on points, but wanted something a bit different for an anniversary weekend getaway. Found Ale House Inn online, and I am super glad I did. The Inn (10 rooms total) was right downtown and had free parking. The rooms were beautiful (much nicer features than my house frankly) and they included free...

The entrance to the inn is 'quirky' - there are steps up (as they warn you about), then a bland lobby area, then a lift, then into the inn... But it's a really nice place once you get there! All the staff we encountered were friendly and professional and the room was not bad in size, very modern in decor...

We stayed at this quirky little hotel in Portsmouth...and loved it. The staff was welcoming...and the bed was amazing. Everything was clean, and cozy...and there was a well-stocked snack bar. I love the feel of exposed brick and true character. This building does not lack charm. We had a great time.

Nice location right on the water but no water views. You have to park about 100 yards away yes it's free. You must then carry your luggage up 20 or so stairs. Go in a hallway into a small elevator. You have 2 real keys one for the room one for the building kinda neat but kinda a pain. Staff...

The Ale House Inn in is a great location, in the heart of Downtown in easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. My husband and I were in town for the weekend celebrating our anniversary, which seems to always coincide with the NH Film Festival in Portsmouth. It's always fun to catch a movie or two, eat some...

This place was very nice. Modern and spacious. Bed was cozy, and big. We were just here for 1 day but very convenient to restaurants and shops. We had to park in another lot though due to some paving across the street, which is originally the parking space for the inn. We also had a complimentary beers! And snacks at...

We spent two nights in Portsmouth with friends. The Inn is on the second floor of a building - there is an elevator to the inn but quite a few steps up to the level where the elevator is located. Normally there is parking across the street in a church parking lot; during our visit we had to park across...

Hotel is very central to a wide array of restaurants and shops. Portsmouth is easy to walk around and only needed the car to visit the submarine Albacore. Parking was fine, as per the other reviews. The reasons I deducted a star were minor but still irritating: 1. The lovely guest lounge pictured in all collateral is quite small meaning...
