Wasn't sure what to expect when booked online. Decided to take a chance on a non chain room. Found lodge to be a beautiful stop on a long trip. Home style atmosphere along with clean and roomy rooms. First time asked if we would be late tonight as they turn off the door lights but they would leave them on... More

We were desperate to find a place to stay and found Carlson lodge on Google. We lucked out big time. Carol, who runs the lodge, is so friendly and pleasant. We felt like we were staying at her home...in the "lobby" and basement, there was a fireplace, a cute lodge cat, piano, game room, and tons of videos and pictures.... More

We road tripped up New England and spent two nights here. It was absolutely lovely. The sisters who owned the place was very nice, and helpful. They gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations. The room was decent sized, clean and comfortable. It had an amazing arm chair which was so comfy, wished they had two in the room. There is... More

We ended up in New Hampshire a little late on in Autumn and most things are shut. Turned up late afternoon here and Expedia had managed to only book us one room instead of the two I had paid for. Looking at the hotel on the outside, it looks like a normal run of the mill motel HOWEVER when you... More

I can't wait to go back to Carlson's Lodge in warm weather and sit out on the lawn and just take in the whole atmosphere. Surrounded by beautiful woods, walking into a very warm and welcoming atmosphere, lovely spacious rooms, benches with quilts for a cool night sitting out and Carol the owner was so gracious giving us suggestions and... Hi Lillian R, We are so glad that you had such a nice time here and thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Fall certainly is the time of sitting bundled up to enjoy the outdoors in the evening. In the last week we have had snow coming down nearly every day and it's quickly become... More

We did enjoy our stay here. On arrival you walk into a large galleried room full of comfortable chairs; and above that is a terrace with a great view across to the mountains. It is a family-run place, and the family want you to feel at home, but... Breakfast is described as "light continental". Light it is, but which continent?... More

Hi WardenRon, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review and provide some constructive criticism. I did some research into the origin of the "continental breakfast" specifically as it is used in the US. Being from the UK, you are closely tied to one of the two locations for which a continental breakfast was named. Specifically a... More

We had a lovely stay, the updating of the rooms you did was great. We had 2 queens beds and liked the two mattress options. It was a beautiful weekend and the leaves were spectacular this year!! Your lodge is a great location for hiking!! We finally got to the the Zealand trail and enjoyed chili at the hut.

Hi Lizzie, Thank you for writing a review and so glad you liked the changes that we have made! The leaves were really something this year and they lasted a lot longer than many people expected. Unfortunately a wind storm last night took out most of what was still up leaving only a few trees with color left. Hope you... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at Carlson's Lodge during Columbus Day weekend of this year. Many places in/around the Whites were booked. After fervent searching, we stumbled upon this gem. I have two rules when choosing lodging - cleanliness and safety. We were heading to New Hampshire to hike and really wouldn't be spending much time in the room, so... More

Hi mmdv607, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review saying so many nice things about us! We try to be "your mountain home" and make it feel as much like home as possible rather than a chain motel. We are very glad you felt welcome and safe and we could be a home base while... More

I've stayed here 5 or 6 times. I can't say anything bad about it. Great rooms, the family that runs it is very nice, and the price is right. Nice quite location. It's an older lodge but with updated rooms. The swimming pool looked nice.
