Stayed here for 5 days in late July. Two adults and two teens in a King Suite. Listed as suitable for four with king bed and two singles. The two singles were actually a single bed with a pull out guest bed (drawer) underneath. We were on top of each other. Then one tiny bathroom for the four of us. Stressful - especially for a week.

But it wasn’t just that. The hotel and rooms need redecorating or at least a fresh coat of paint. Dirt, scuffs, and marks on walls and doors.

Then on second day our room wasn’t cleaned, no beds made, no new towels. We complained that evening when we got back. Then repeated the next day only worse - we arrived back to our room and door was open ! Evidence that cleaning had started but then not continued and room left open all day. Again we complained.

We weren’t expecting a lot from breakfast and therefore we weren’t disappointed. Coffee, cereal and plain bagels.

Yes, it’s a minute from the beach, and you get free beach passes, chairs, towels, umbrellas - that is really excellent. What a pity the rest of the experience is so poor.

We stayed at the Grenville for a friend’s wedding. We reserved a “deluxe suite”. At the Grenville this is a room with no dresser, closet or full length mirror. There is one small nightable. Nothing else would fit. Bathroom is large but not in great condition. Floor was dirty but shower was good. For over 350 a night we expected more from the room. There weren't even two lamps. Walls are thin and we were right across from an unnumbered room with dogs in it. Every time we made a sound the dogs barked. Bed was decent. Location very good. There is a lovely large porch but was booked for private party so not usable; absolutely no where else to sit except for the small room. And only 4 rockers on the porch for the whole place - they could use a lot more. The continental breakfast is cold cereal, muffins wrapped in plastic wrap and styrofoam bowls. However, the brunch which was a private meal for the wedding guests was very good. Service for the brunch was really good. This place could be a 5 star but it just isn't right now.

Nice small dining room. The restaurant is BYOB. My wife and I had the lump crab cake and fusilli a la vodka. Both dishes were very good. The rolls offered with dinner were also good. The service not so good. After our entrees were served we did not see the waiter. He never stopped by the table to see if we needed anything nor to refill our water glasses. When the bill came I was charged the wrong price for the chicken extra I had with my entree.

4th year in a row staying here, twice this season! 1 minute walk to a beautiful uncrowded clean beach with free beach passes, umbrellas, bicycles, chairs and towels supplied by the Grenville. No need to pay outrageous fees for parking. Rooms are comfortable and clean with AC and cable TV. And there is a great restaurant on the premises. They are also dog friendly with select rooms so bring your pooch!! The Point Pleasant boardwalk is 1 mile away and Seaside Heights is a short 9 miles. The owners are very nice people. You won`t regret staying here!

I’m looking at most of the reviews and not sure those who chose a bad review stayed at the same place we did. My wife and I stayed here for the week and had nothing but an amazing experience. The staff were very tentative and polite and the owners were so welcoming everyday during our stay. The best part was the beach was just a three minute walk and they supply the chairs, badges and towels. The food was very good and remember… your at the beach not NYC! The porch was probably our favorite place to just chill with our own drinks and a good book. Very relaxing atmosphere and close to all the activities and boardwalk if you want that or just chill on the beach till dinner. It was our second time there in two years and we will be back. Thank you for making our week memorable!

I was a guest at the Grenville for two nights in July as I was traveling on business. I ate dinner by myself one night in the restaurant for dinner. I had the seafood risotto which was terrible. It was more like a shrimp stir fry with a soupy cream sauce over it then properly prepared risotto. My salad came out after my meal. And as soon as I was done eating they cleared away my plates and they slapped the bill on the table. I was not even offered coffee and dessert. I spoke with the manager who admitted she was in her office for a lot of the service time. She did apologize. There are so many more options in the area I don’t know why anyone would choose to eat here.

It was the perfect choice for us to get married at the Grenville. I spent most childhood summers at the Jersey Shore, and my husband even proposed to me on this beach at sunrise. Our 50-guest wedding was scheduled over three days: rehearsal dinner Friday night, wedding Saturday, and farewell brunch Sunday morning. Everything except the rehearsal dinner took place at the Grenville. Every hotel room was occupied with our guests, so the whole weekend felt like one big sleepover!

Maureen, Harry, and Patti from the Grenville really came to feel like family throughout this process. Maureen and I were in regular communication about plans and details, and she was incredibly lovely and easy to work with.

For food, We loved their h’or d'oeuvres during cocktail hour. During the reception dinner, the banquet tables were set up horseshoe-style, so it was like one big family dinner. The Grenville provides an amazing menu as part of their wedding package. We had two tastings in the months leading up the wedding, to finalize our menu. We had a fabulous time working with the owner and head chef Harry, to finalize our menu that included one meat option (Chicken Francaise with Whipped Potatoes & Mixed Vegetables), one vegetarian option (Fusilli alla Vodka with Spinach, Asparagus, & Zucchini), and one vegan option (Impossible Beef Wellington with Roast Potatoes & Mixed Vegetables).

For much of our reception, our guests were so happy sitting on the veranda enjoying the rain. People were cozied up in blankets around the fire pit, and having long relaxed conversations with each other. My husband and I found ourselves thinking how lucky we were to be married in such a lovely place.

Our one night stay at the Grenville Hotel was great. We were 4 adults, 1 toddler & a puppy and stayed in the 2 room family suite on the second floor. It looked exactly like what was pictured on the website. The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was extremely clean and I liked that there wasn’t any carpeting in the rooms. Even though the hotel is located on a busy street it was surprisingly quiet during the night. Maureen, the owner and the other employees were very helpful and accommodating. You could tell that they loved dogs and welcomed our pup with open arms. The breakfast was very basic and no frills but was all we needed to get the day started. The Grenville is one block away from the beautiful Bay Head beach. We stayed there the beginning of June and since the town hadn’t started to check badges yet we were able to bring our pup to the beach with us. The hotel does provide beach chairs, umbrellas, towels and badges to their guests. We highly recommend the Grenville Hotel and hope to return next year!

A small alumni group of us (8) with our significant others met at the Grenville Hotel. We planned a mid week two night stay that included a gala dinner with a "BYOB cocktail hour." The staff at the hotel were very accommodating and made our stay very enjoyable and memorable. The hotel is circa 1890's, has an elevator and large rooms. We found the beds were comfortable, the food very good and the location perfect for our stay on the Jersey Shore.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Grenville Hotel in Bay Head, NJ. The location is perfect to the beach and quaint shops/restaurants in town. The staff are all very friendly and professional. It's great that the beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, beach tags, bikes are all included. We appreciated having a continental breakfast included however it would be good to see a few more lower sugar/healthier options available. As a long time Type 1 diabetic it would be great to see other options like plain instant oatmeal packs amongst the sugared flavored ones, plain yogurt, small serving cottage cheese containers, higher protein bar options, etc. Just a few suggestions. Overall, a very fun few days at the Grenville. We will return and would absolutely recommend!!
