Detailed Reviews
My wife and I have enjoyed staying at the Spray Beach Hotel in North Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, New Jersey for the past FIFTY YEARS. We've always been impressed with the regular improvements to the place over the years, and the new owners recently renovated the lobby and dining room with plans to completely renovate all of the rooms beginning in October 2022. We can't wait to see the latest enhancements next season! Our favorite room has always been a large King bed on the third floor with breathtaking sunrise views from the window and balcony overlooking the dunes and ocean which is only a few meters away. We also get a lot of use from the fridge & microwave. At the end of the day, we always enjoy the pool and hot tub to relax and watch the sunsets over the bay. The new owners recently added free "Cruiser" bikes, so for the first time in 50 years we didn't have to haul our bikes there. Steve, Kim and Jamie at the front desk were always very friendly and accommodating! We especially appreciated their efforts to watch for a cancellation, so we were able to stay for an extra night on Friday. All of the housekeeping and pool staff also were very friendly and dedicated to providing outstanding service!

We recently stayed here with family and did have a great time. The location makes it easy to walk up to the beach and grab a cocktail on your way coming or going. The pool has plenty of seating and lounge chairs, which you could request a server to bring drinks and food. We checked in on a monday and checked out on a friday and every single day, all day, the same music station was playing. There was no variety what-so-ever. It must have been easy listening or something (Bette Middler, Lionel Richie, etc.). The first day or 2 it did not bother me at all, but we spent a good portion of our time at the pool and liked the food there so we ate a lot of meals in the indoor/outdoor restaurant, which also featured the same music station which played the same 30 songs on repeat all day everyday. On multiple occasions a member of our party spoke with the front desk to request a change to this and a different station be put on. Each time they said they would speak with a manager and nothing was done. By the last day we were pretty irritated with the music and were ready to leave. I would like to stay here again but if the music is the same I will spend more of my time at the beach and at other restaurants instead of giving them my money for food and drinks. Otherwise the rooms are adequate. A little dated, but they are clean and spacious enough for a family of 4. The pool seemed to be cared for rather diligently which was a relief because there are a lot of people in the pool daily.

Responded 6 Aug 2021
Thank you for taking the time out to review the Spray Beach Hotel. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed our facilities. I apologize for the small variety of music. As of a couple weeks ago we have begun to experiment with other stations. The Spray Beach Hotel appreciates your feedback and hopes to see you again soon!

My wife and I were on Long Beach Island for a wedding and stayed overnight at the Spray Beach Hotel. The Spray Beach has a great beach front location with direct walkway beach access. The hotel is neat, clean and comfortable. The room had a king size bed, walk in shower, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The location is also convenient to restaurants, shopping and other amenities. The Spray Beach is a good choice on Long Beach Island.

I never leave reviews but I had to. For the price this motel, not hotel is subpar in various areas. I’ve been staying lbi for 30+ years. I was excited to try this place seeing it was part of Hotel Lbi. When we arrived, there was zero parking. The woman at the front desk said there are no assigned spots for guests. It’s open to everyone. At $600 per night, you should be able to park your car in the hotel lot. No one to help with your bags. There was no cart to get your stuff to your room. The rooms are new and clean. But the air conditioning does not cool the room even on the coldest setting. There is no phone in the room to call the front desk. When I walked down to explain to the front desk that our room was hot and we needed more towels, the woman could not be bothered to assist me. She said she could send someone tomorrow to look at the air conditioning and handed me towels. The body wash dispenser on the shower wall was empty so they handed us two small hand soaps to use because no one was available to refill it. I would think these would be checked when housekeeping was cleaning a room and getting it prepared for the next guest. This place gives self checkout counter vibes. No plug to charge your phone anywhere near the bed. You had to charge your phone access the room by the dresser. The elevator and outside is very run down and old. Tons of stairs. This motel is for families with very little children. The beach and pool are filled with little ones crying and screaming. Which is fine if you are vacationing with little ones. But we weren’t so it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience for us. If you want to relax and get treated like you matter this isn’t the place. I highly recommend that you don’t waste your time or money. Try somewhere else.

Don’t let the renovations fool you, it’s the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig! The bed is directly next to the AC unit (like 6 inches apart) and blows cold air directly on you. After our first night, we noticed all of our towels, bathing suits, and even the shower from post pool were still soaking wet. The room felt “wet” and very humid. My husband went to the front desk and reported the issue before we went to the pool for the day. He was told someone would call him to review the issues we reported. No one called, and when we returned back to our room we found our AC off and heat turned on to 85! We immediately called the front desk and the manager called us back. Sharon was as helpful as an angry hornet, and as friendly as one also! We discussed our issues with her, she took zero accountability and did not apologize for any inconvenience. We asked for compensation for the previous nights issues and she said no. She offered breakfast which we explained we were leaving too early in the AM to utilize. She said that was the best she could do. Not everyone should have a career in hospitality, and after learning this hotel is owned/managed by the same company as Holiday Inn LBI I can say this seems to be their culture - guest service means nothing and all they want is money. Spending $600+/night doesn’t matter to them! We had bugs in the room, hair in the shower, hair on the clean towels we needed to request consistently because nothing dried! Lastly, their welcome letter says they don’t check in under 25 or allow smoking on the entire site. Both nights there was a group of young adults smoking weed outside our room until 3 am each night, and people were smoking on the pool deck. One of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. If I could give a lower score I would.

All of our expectations were exceeded and we had an excellent stay! The reviews are very low and as someone who studies reviews very carefully for even the shortest hotel stay, I had low expectations going into the weekend.
However everything was great! Small but very clean and well planned out room (we just stayed at mahalo in Cape May and it was the same size). It’s the Jersey shore and these aren’t gigantic rooms people!
Large lounge area by the pool and very family friendly. Beautiful restaurant and lobby with snacks. Tons of clean beach chairs and boogie boards to borrow. About a 30 second walk from our room to the sand.
Very close to the downtown area of beach haven but far enough away to be quiet. The room was extremely quiet as well despite being overlooking the restaurant couldn’t hear a sound. Plenty of parking, all in all an easy, fun, clean and updated hotel!

My boyfriend and I stayed for the weekend. Our first night, we got in very late and all we wanted to do was go sleep. I immediately noticed what appeared to be blood splatters on the walls by the light switches and by our bathroom door. I had pointed this out to my boyfriend and he assumed it to be pasta sauce. Thank God I packed my sanitizing spray and sprayed nearly every surface of the room. After, we shrugged it off and went to bed.
The next night, we went to adjust the pillows before we slept and found a blood splatter on our bed sheets under the pillows. We could not get out of there fast enough. We had checked out immediately, but not before we were asked to change the sheets ourselves and offered a room that was “suddenly available”.
We had spoke to the MANAGER Jeff and he admitted to us that it was not properly cleaned and that he himself sleeps on blood splattered sheets because detergent sometimes doesn’t get the stains. I am a woman and informed him that that has happened to me and my sheets come out in a clean wash and I’m sure any woman can agree with my statement as well. He refused to refund us the first night but refunded us the second so I told him I would just go ahead and write this review then. Just a heads up for anyone wanting to stay here.

We stayed in room 105 for part of Saturday 10/12-we left at 5:30 in the morning to go home so we could get some sleep! The room was disgustingly dirty - horrible stains on the carpet and couch. The air conditioner and refrigerator mad so much noise it was impossible to sleep. Extension cords were used next to the bed-are you kidding me?? Is this even legal? The tv was also not working properly.
I booked the room in February and asked for an ocean view-we had a parking lot view and paid almost $500 for this???
I called twice the week before asking for an early check in explaining that we had a wedding at 4 o'clock. When I called on Friday I was told no problem-come around one. We came in at 2:30 and was told no room was available yet and they would call us. They used the excuse that they were cleaning the room-I find that hard to believe!!!We came back at 3:30 and still no room until 3:45. This made us late for the wedding and your staff could have cared less.
I called and emailed the hotel and sent pictures and asked for some kind on compensation. they refused!!!! Think twice before you stay here!!! We have stayed in hotels all over the world and never had a place so horrible!!!!

The owners have added tasteful and beautiful touches to the hotel. However every employee we came across had an attitude especially the women at front desk. My family of 14 spent thousands of dollars over the 4 days were there and the best employee was the gentleman who closed the pool at night. My mom fell in the lobby and not a single of the 4 employees offered to help. I had a hair in my French toast and just asked for another one only to receive my 3 untouched halves back on a new plate. Then when 3 others found hairs we decided not to say anything because the waiter said the cook was mad at me for sending it back! If the new owners and employees (including their children) can work on smiling and being a bit more polite to people who are choosing to spend their hard earned money here, I’d give this place a 4. They are cheap on portions and very light handed at the bar, and asking $3 for coffee when a guest is spending $500 a night, improve that and you’d have a 5. The addition of chairs and bikes was awesome, thank you for doing that!

Bare bones hotel, let's be real - you're paying for the fabulous location here. The room was so tiny and dated, we were shocked at the per night price here. We did enjoy the spacious beach area and small pool, we also thought the bar/restaurant had great food but otherwise, overpriced for what it was. Also, we had prepaid for the room but when I checked out I was charged again, luckily I reviewed the receipt in detail. We loved LBI but I wouldn't stay here again. If you're looking for a basic spot in a great location, I think you'd be happy here.

Interesting question. I don't recall having any issues, pretty typical for a hotel/motel. They also have an outdoor shower by the pool that has absolutely NO problem with water pressure LOL.
Unfortunately they are not pet friendly, but I would call and speak with the front desk and see if they can accommodate in your situation. Maybe you catch them on a good day 😁
I assume so since it was open in May.
Sorry, no
