Detailed Reviews
Our group booked 48 hours in advance of a team event in order to avoid traffic to the event and take advantage of the 1/2 block from the beach - both of which worked out well. The Belmar staff was very pleasant and accomodating to our group. (I read the earlier blasts and they sound as though the writers were young, spoiled college students. As my father always says: "You don't visit a place to stay in the hotel room.") If the staff was surly, perhaps it is because so many of the patrons I viewed on our visit treated them as though they were not human. A little kindness goes a long way. The staff altered our room assignments, offered local dining advice, watched over our group belongs after checkout and allowed up to use their lobby bathroom for beach changes post check-out.
When I offered a large tip for the extras one staff member provided, it was curteously refused. I have stayed in many 4 star hotels all over the world. Understand that this is not a chain. You pay for the proximately to the beach and yes, in summer time in NJ, there are many college students who stay here and drink and party on the porch and the nearby streets. Head south if you want more amenities, but bang for the buck, the Belmar Inn does the job.

During the week you can get a room easily. On the weekends it books up quickly b/c it is so reasonably priced near the beach. Big front porch. Rooms are adequate nothing over the top, but neither is the pricetag. Would stay again. They were able to accommodate a late check in.

Although this place does resemble a dorm more than a hotel - the room was not as bad as some of the other reviewers have described. We didn't experience any noise the week we stayed. In fact, for a few nights I think we had the entire floor to ourselves! There were signs posted everywhere about noise so it may be a problem on weekends. The problems that I encountered involved room service. We had to replenish our own sheets and towels and in the entire 7 days we were there, the room was never vacuumed and the trash was never picked up. We had to bring our trash and linens downstairs on a daily basis. Basically it seems there is no cleaning crew on weekdays. The building has a lot of potential and the staff was pleasant. Would I stay at the Belmar Inn again? Not likely but if I was in a bind, it was tolerable and the 1/2 to the beach location was perfect.

Unfortunately, I did not get to stay at Belmar Inn and never will. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service manifested based in how they handled a mistaken booking. Long story short, my family member booked the Belmar Inn (non refundable) through a third-party site for Labor Day weekend a few weeks ago, inadvertently mixing up the beach town we were staying in. Upon realizing the mistake, I called within 4 hours to cancel the reservation with full explanation of the error and plenty of time for the hotel to rebook. Upon multiple calls to the hotel that night and the next morning and third-pary site, I was told by the hotel 2x that they would look into it, Manger was handling it, and call the third-party site. The site advised it was at the discretion of the hotel and sent over a formal request to them. I called the hotel to confirm that they review the official request and was hastily advised, yes "someone will call you back." That call never came, my reservation was not cancelled and I was charged the full amount. I am beyond dissapointed with the hotel's lack of flexibility and professionalism. It's a shame too as I go to Belmar in the simmer often. I do not recommend this hotel.

BUYER BEWARE... If your looking for a nice clean place - this is NOT your place. Hard to get anyone to answer the phone when you call, should have been my first warning sign. They will bill you full price when making reservation & you can't get your money back! Have friends who are locals in Belmar who told me (after the fact lol) do NOT stay here. much nicer hotels not that far from here

I had a terrible experience. The room smelled like cigarettes and mold the first night I arrived. After my stay, I noticed they charged me an additional $250, accusing me of smoking in the room. I do not smoke, nor will I ever will. I was very upset with them, and would not be surprised if customers in the past had the same issues, based on reviews and their rudeness. Please avoid this place!! Better to sleep in your car.

Filthy, dirty sheets, food left in rooms, bugs, mold, and other disgusting items left behind. Smelt like smoke, garbage everywhere, no parking spaces. I can’t even imagine how they are in business. Crack Den, shady , unsafe and unsanitary. Do not book a room here EVER!

Absolutely had a fantastic time from the minute I checked in at the front desk with Lynn. She is amazing and was very accommodating to my husband and I since I had just had a hip replacement. She definitely keeps the office running very smoothly and is a hard worker. CJ also was a phenomenal employee and got the pleasure to hang out with him for a while on the front porch. By the time I left I felt like I had a new friend actually it was like that with all employees. Tierra was also phenomenal at the desk at night time. Very nice person. Kumar also very polite and courteous. Was definitely a good find and I felt like I was part of a family there did not want to come home. Will be returning soon Bernadette and Charlie. We were desperately looking for a hotel at 7 at night that wasn't overly expensive. I would of slept in the car before I spent $350 for one night visit. I was driving past this hotel and searched the reviews. Checked in and got a room one block from the ocean for $99. The room was clean, the shower was hot and the bed was good. Not too bad for the price. The manager was very helpful recommending a place for a late night dinner and breakfast the next morning. He even came knocking on our door to let me know that I was parked in a tow a way zone and that he had a parking spot for me....thank you.
On our next visit to the area would stay here again.
