Just wanted to say that everything was Great this past weekend for our Women’s Retreat! Several ladies had a breakfast or two at the restaurant and enjoyed it. The service and food was very good! The meeting room was perfect and every detail came together and was locked and unlocked quickly for us at each of our requests. The hotel rooms were beautiful and the ocean view is, of course, spectacular. Marilyn DeMaria , Sales Manager, did an Excellent job of making sure every detail was handled. We have been going there for our Annual Retreat for decades and they have never disappointed us. That’s why we keep returning and we had another successful event this year thanks to ALL the wonderful staff there!

Allow me to start with the punchline, I definitely recommend POC and would return. Our first visit Sept 2022 had a few surprises. The pluses outweigh the concerns identified below.
The hotel has a perfect location. Reasonable walking distance from the most active part of the boardwalk but far enough away to be quieter at night. The view from the Ocean facing rooms/balconies is incredible. The 9 story hotel is over 50 years old but most rooms have been updated. The staff was friendly and the attached Adelene's restaurant was convenient for breakfast and lunch. The pool is large, inviting and well maintained with plenty of furniture, umbrellas and pool towels.
The main negative during our visit was 1 of only 2 elevators was broken. Some of the clientele (including us) was older and 1 elevator doesn't cut it between social distancing concerns and equipment like carts, walkers and luggage. Check in/out time was a nightmare. Only 2 carts with 2 people could fit in the elevator. Without carts maybe six to eight at the most. At one point there was a 6 cart backup. I realize the management's hands were tied because an unavailable part was holding up the repairs but this happened on a Saturday, we arrived on Monday and they weren't close to fixing it by Thursday.
Back to the pool for a moment there were only steps to get to it so a truly handicapped person could not sit poolside. Even if they were able to get there, there was no pool lift as you see in many public pools. There was another area where people could sit without navigating steps. I don't know if they warn people that the facility is not completely ADA compliant but they should.
The restaurant was convenient and they do offer a 10% discount coupons for guests but due to a staffing shortage after Labor Day, the service took about twice as long as you would normally expect. Luckily the food quality was worth the wait and the prices were competitive.
Every staff member I encountered was helpful and friendly. The general manager Glenn was very hands on which was refreshing. Rather than chastise short staff employees, he jumped right into the mix and helped. You have to admire that trait.
One last surprise was the bill. I knew the stated room price did not include taxes but there also was a 15 dollar per day resort fee which was unexpected. Full disclosure they did waive this resort fee due to the inconvenience of the elevator but I had to ask for some consideration.
Overall the Port O Call is worthy of a return. I may call before the cancellation date to make sure the elevators are working.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time recently to comment about our staff and services, as it is always nice to hear from our most important asset - the hotel guest! Your feedback will certainly provide us with the motivation to continue striving to offer first class accommodations and amenities while maintaining an exemplary level of service throughout the hotel. The staff at the Port-O-Call Hotel is committed to providing the highest quality services and facilities. Our valued guests, such as you, are best qualified to let us know how we are doing and how we can better meet your needs while traveling. Elevator - Unfortunately, we did experience a problem with (1) of our elevators during your stay. As a courtesy, we did send an email to all incoming guests alerting them that we were experiencing elevator issues and allowed them to cancel if they felt this would be too much of an inconvenience. Pool - We do offer a stair lift platform and a special entrance to the pool deck to allow for wheelchairs and other mobility devices. In addition, we provide a portable pool lift upon request which can be set up in minutes. Please request these items when making your reservations. Of course, please ask for me during your next visit and I will personally see to it that you gain easy access to the pool. I have shared your comments with our staff, and they are more eager than ever to provide the finest service so that we can receive more positive reviews like yours! Once again, thank you for your review. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Received a mailing for a "special" entitled Reflections of Summer, and it truly was just that! We enjoyed an Ocean Room view on the requested Ninth Floor that was a perfect get a Way for 4 nights (Mon.-Fri.) at a very fair nightly rate that also included a wonderful (and full) breakfast every morning at the hotel restaurant. This was our first trip since the pandemic and we were highly impressed with the efforts to follow all CDC guidelines. Everyone (staff and guests) wore masks inside the hotel, with all contact surfaces cleaned regularly. Personal space guidelines in elevators, the restaurant and at the heated outdoor pool were strictly enforced by very pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms were very clean and guests could request a level of housecleaning that they were comfortable in having. That said, the staff were very friendly, helpful and always putting guest safety first. My wife and I felt entirely "Covid safe" and had no issues or health concerns. We would highly recommend a stay at Port O Call as a safe and enjoyable Get a Way if you are looking for a chance to relax during these stressful times at the beautiful beaches of Ocean City N.J..
Individual rooms had all anticipated amenities including Keurig coffee maker, small refrigerator, ironing board and iron. hair dryer and large screen TV. Everything worked great with no issues with HVAC or plumbing. Water nice and hot when needed and room was clean and nicely appointed. Neighbors can sometimes forget that they are not home and can turn up their TVs a bit too loud, however front desk staff told us that they would handle the situation if we found it to be distractive,(which we found was not necessary).

We had two adjoining ocean front rooms and what views we had!! Listening to the waves was amazing!! The beds were so comfortable. The staff couldn't have been any nicer. The entire staff worked very well as a team. The front desk staff Stephanie, Vicky and Jen were who we dealt with. They catered to whatever we needed. The bellhop Daniyel was the best. He was so happy to help us unload and load the car. The restaurant staff was amazing with the children. Sarah, Danko and Arlene took such good care of us. Some people say the hotel prices are too high. If you add in the parking, beach tags, pool tags, beach chairs and beach umbrella, not to mention being on the boardwalk, but away from the hustle and bustle of the rides and shops, it's worth every penny! Keep checking the website for special dates and prices. The grandkids loved going to the beach and then coming back to the pool. The pool was very clean and well attended. Plenty of towels are provided when you use the pool. The local Acme delivered a grocery order we placed before we left home and we didn't have to lug cases of water with us! The general manager (Glenn) was great as usual. A very special moment in time. It's like coming back to family each visit. Thank you all for the beautiful memories. Can't wait to see you all again!

We had a wedding to attend and my family required specifics for the guest sleeping room. I worked with Ms. Marilyn DeMaria from sales and the operations team as well. Many moving parts to my move heaven and earth request and the team was amazing! The took care of every single detail and did not miss a thing. I share this as we stayed in this hotel as kids with our grandmother 35 years ago and it is still the best. Was then and is now. That is hard to do in this day and age. From the moment you walk in it is a clean shore smell, the rooms we beyond clean during these difficult times with staffing and the scare of illness. Bathrooms were terrific, clean and beautiful appointed. The Sleeping room was clean, sheets smelled fresh, no dust, hard goods and soft good in great shape and did I say CLEAN! To all of the staff keep on doing what you are doing. You have a guest for life with me and my family. Can't wait to tell anyone that will listen.

With the hotel being the only large hotel right on the beach u r captive to their high rates but the hotel is very nice. It’s on the quiet end of the boardwalk. We chose an ocean front room but because of the nasty weather (thanks to remnants of hurricane Ian), we r never got a chance to sit on the balcony to enjoy it. One of their elevators has been down so wait time was long (and elevator is small so tightly holds 2 people & 1 cart.) Free local newspaper on ur doorstep each am is a nice touch but a $15/day “resort fee” is a bit much, I’m assuming its for Wi-Fi ?? but other hotels don’t charge for Wi-Fi . Front desk staff was very friendly & helpful (they provided us with plastic wear when the restaurant didn’t. ) Unfortunately breakfast was swapped out for a buffet to accommodate a large group. Based on the hotel layout with multiple stairs at the front entrance, it was confusing at first to figure out how to get a cart from your room to the parking lot but the helpful staff gave is the info we needed (u need to go to the lower lobby for a cart & exit the side door). Overall a very nice stay & hotel.

This was our first time staying at the Port-O-Call Hotel. We were greeted with such wonderful hospitality by Drew when we arrived. He was very kind and genuine with his conversation as we waited for the elevator and other times during our visit.
The room was very clean and the housekeeping crew was respectful of our privacy, but also very accommodating when we needed something.
The view from our balcony was fantastic! It was great being greeted by the ocean each morning when we woke and each nice as we readied for bed.
The kids loved breakfast in Adilene's especially when Kathy greeted us with a smile each day as she took our order. We loved the hashbrowns! Kathy was the best server and knew exactly what the kids wanted or needed. She even took the time to ask about the kids and their hobbies. We would go back just to see Kathy !
The pool was clean and never really crowded.
We were close to the beach and all the shops. We will definitely be back to stay in the future!

I felt compelled to write this review because even though we stayed for one night, they (specifically Colleen) went above and beyond to make this a memorable time. I had done a wash that night and the dryer wasn't working. My clothes were still wet after 48 minutes so I went to let the front desk know just so they could have it fixed for future customers. Well Colleen at the front desk gave me a full refund for the dryer and the wash as well, which I thought was so very nice. When I got back to the room, I had to hang up my clothes all over to have them dry by the morning when we were leaving and because of that, I forgot my hat that was hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I was devastated because it was my favorite hat and I tried to buy it again and it was all sold out and not being made again. So, I called the hotel and Colleen answered and she remembered me and said she would look for it. A few hours later she called me back to say she found it and would mail it back to me! In 2 days, a big box came for me from the hotel and the postage was $9! I couldn't imagine why for just a hat. When I opened the box, not only was my hat there, but Colleen had put in 2 t-shirts from the hotel as well! WOW! My mouth dropped in surprise. I can't thank her enough for helping my husband and I have a great vacation! I was sorry we were only able to stay one night. With all the horrors going on in the world, it's so refreshing to meet someone so helpful and dedicated to their job and to caring about the guests. I would stay at this hotel again and again and hope one day we can go back. Besides all that, it was right on the boardwalk, very clean and had a great restaurant. Thank you again, Colleen!

We have been staying here a number of years for "girls' weekend" and have always found it to be the best location with friendly & helpful staff. If there are any issues (couldn't get safe to lock), they are addressed right away.
The rooms are clean and well kept. The food in the restaurant is always fresh and tasty.
The only negative is that there are no hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels, robes, etc., and it would be nice to have more than 1 mirror - in particular a full length mirror would be nice. I understand the upgraded rooms do have a full length mirror. Please consider adding one to all rooms.
Another nice touch is they provide you with vouchers for a beach umbrella and 2 chairs. The pool and showers are also available to you all day on check-out day. Will stay here again.

My husband has a mobility disability requiring a wheelchair, mobility scooter, and rollator.. We stayed in one of the hotel’s ADA rooms with a roll-in shower and found it to met all of his needs. Access to the hotel’s lower lobby was simple. Ramps and elevators made getting around quite easy, including a ramp to the boardwalk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room had a fabulous ocean view. Opening the slider and listening to the ocean all night was wonderful. Our stay at the Port-O-Call was most enjoyable.

We get charged resort fees and NJ resort taxes any time we go to the Jersey Shore - does not matter which place we go. We go on vacation every spring and fall and have always been charged them.
There are more places to choose from in the Ocean City area.
