Detailed Reviews
We've been spending a late-summer week at the Ocean Plaza pretty much every year since the early 1990s, after it was refurbished as a traditional inn with modern amenities. The amenities are those one would expect in any decent mid-range accommodation: equipped bathrooms with basic toiletries, working WiFi, daily room make-up, an ample breakfast service (on the 2nd floor balcony with direct view of the ocean), and -- befitting a beach town -- beach towel service. We stay each year in the 4th floor aerie, with balcony overlooking Ocean Pathway, the esplanade at the center of the town that leads from the Methodists' Great Auditorium to their boardwalk pavilion and the dunes and sandy beach at the Atlantic Ocean.
What makes the Ocean Plaza exceptional is that age-old watchword of the real estate industry: location, location, location. It is Ocean Grove itself, on the register of National Historic Sites, that makes this inn so compelling a place to stay, and specifically its location right on the aforementioned Ocean Pathway, with the town's iconic row of stunning Victorian houses directly across the pathway from the inn. The town is serene, bathed in nostalgic Americana and consecrated to the search for life's meaning in the footsteps of the Risen Lord: free of raucous night life, free of alcohol, free of commercialism, and free of parking meters. (Fortunately, all of these are readily available just a few hundred meters north or south of the town, in Asbury Park or Bradley Beach/Belmar and beyond.)
The reception staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. The staff at the breakfast service are largely international exchange-students (this year from Thailand and Mongolia) working under a State Department program to learn about American life and, it is hoped, to learn to love Americans in all their diversity. They certainly meet a great cross-section, and they add a special zest to the Americana experience that is Ocean Grove. The Ocean Plaza is a perfect place to marinate in seaside tranquillity, watch the sun rise from the sea in the morning, cycle the boardwalk before 9 AM, and decamp to the beach by day (with or without kiddies) if that's your thing.

Property's Favourite Review
This was my first ever visit to Ocean Grove and Ocean Plaza. I was very impressed with both. We received an incredibly warm welcome upon arrival. The staff were exceptional. This was also just about the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in. Our room was charming and comfortable. The location couldn't be beat. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. Breakfast was delicious and there is a beautiful view of the ocean from the second floor porch where it is served. I will definitely be back!

Rooms are spotless, the daily maid is so sweet- made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back as soon as possible.

We are a group that have been going to the Ocean Plaza for years ... and we LOVE it! Everyone goes above and beyond to make our stay really lovely. The views from both porches of Ocean Pathway are some of the most beautiful that you can see anywhere. The breakfasts are delicious with hot choices as well as tasty pastries while you gaze at the morning sun glistening over the ocean like diamonds. Fellow guests are friendly... and a recent discussion agreed that Ocean Grove (OG) just makes everyone "happy." The location cannot be more perfect as it sits on the pathway, one block from the Great Auditorium and one block from the ocean. The best compliment is how often you find "repeat" guests that return to the Ocean Plaza from families young and old to friends and couples... just delightful to see. We had PERFECT weather this year so quite a few people still on the pristine beaches. Since we go after Labor Day, most of the crowds have left and the locals that have not closed up their tents or cottages yet will gladly fill you in on OG history. As stated, everyone is just friendly, helpful, and pleasant. There is a serenity that soothes the soul.

I hosted a women’s group at The Ocean Plaza Hotel for. 3-day retreat at the end of April. There are so many wonderful things to say about this hotel!
1. The management and staff—friendly, attentive, professional
2. The cleanliness and coziness and attention to little details (snacks, water, ice machine and buckets, wine glasses, etc.)
3. Full breakfast included in the rate—lots of hot and cold choices, including an amazing coffee cake
4. The location and view—a block from the beach, and the breakfast is served in a 2nd floor wrap-around porch (heated in winter) that looks out at the beach and lovely Victorian architecture of Ocean Grove (great for walking around the town to shops, cafes, and walk along the boardwalk)
5. Proximity to Asbury Park’s restaurants, shops, galleries, yoga studios, boardwalk, the historic Paramount Theater/Convention Center, Stone Pony and other venues—bring your sneakers and walk to everything in 10 minutes or less
Most importantly, my guests (professional women from all over the US and Canada who have traveled a lot) were delighted and can’t wait to come back again for our next retreat!
Side notes: I rented our meeting room (2 blocks away) at the Ocean Grove Historical Society—fascinating little museum, by the way—and we had our lunch meals right next door at “The Starving Artist” restaurant—great food, accommodating gluten-free and other allergies, wonderful service! I arranged for our group dinners (10 min walk to neighboring Asbury Park)—highly recommend “Flavia’s” (Italian, BYOB) and “Loteria” (Mexican).

My son and I have been coming to the Ocean Plaza Hotel almost every year for more than a decade. We love the Inskip Suite and the Premier Family Room, both of which have lovely ocean views, but this year, since my (now grown) son brought a friend, we splurged a bit and stayed for the first time in the Bradley Suite, with its two full bedrooms, full kitchen and common area and, yes, beautiful views. We loved having our own space yet being able to hang out in living area together and share a meal. The staff as usual was great, the hot breakfast included french toast and a choice of quiches, along with cereals, pastries, and fruit. We always come in the off season, and it is so peaceful.

As always, the staff goes up & above to accommodate all their guests. Hotel is spotless, entire staff is beyond accommodating in all their guests interactions. Special callout to the cleaning staff, wow!! Breakfast is the best, the breakfast staff always helpful, friendly and quick. Food is delicious and fresh, could not ask for more plus you have a beautiful 2nd floor view of the ocean as your enjoy your delicious coffee & hot breakfast. Such a comfortable and easy stay, we look forward every year to our annual trip to The Ocean Plaza Hotel. We arrive early in the morning, easily park in very close proximity to the hotel, hit the beach, front desk texts while on the beach that your room is ready. How great is that!

Another great shore weekend with the Ocean Plaza as base camp. Comfortable room, really great breakfast that goes above and beyond the requisite fruit and pastry to include a full, hot, fueling spread. The Plaza is perfectly located - a block from the lovely Ocean Grove beach, nice shops in town, and an easy stroll down the boardwalk or across the footbridge to the clubs and restaurants of Asbury Park. No car necessary- if you’re coming from NYC it’s a 5 minute Uber ride from the train station. We love it; we’ll be back.

It was select for Christmas weekend after read all the posted great reviews. After my experience, I think it is overrated. First, for 2 days I tried to called them, before I booked a room, left a voice message and text. I was looking for room info. Nobody responded my message, however I decided to book it. We stayed in the # 7, 2nd floor. It is a clean small room, the room view is the wall of the right following house. The view of each room should be describe on the web. The shower area is very tiny one. The house has a central heating, first night was very cold, following night quite warm. They provided a spear heater our 2nd day, it should informed the location of those portable heaters to be able to grab one in case that guess need it.
On Christmas Eve an Christmas Day everything is close around, so they should be ready to assist the guess with accurate info for places to eat around instead of generic list for Summer restaurants. We were lucky to find Rest info in ThePatch.com (after many searches and driving around). The Flames steakhouse was a great choice.
Breakfast was good, Maria & Luis were kind preparing warm station with pancakes, sausages, eggs. Additional Costco bread and pastries are available too. Coffee&tea station is available. This front porch with sea view are the most beautiful in the house. Also, they have a cozy living room and front porch in the first floor.
The value $185 plus taxes for each night was overprice for this place, Front Desk Service was from 8:30-5:30pm.

This is the second time I've stayed at the cozy Ocean Plaza hotel. The hotel is in a great, quiet location, a block from the beach and its boardwalk, as well as walking distance from the fun restaurants of Asbury Park.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning is fabulous, with a large selection and delicious choices. The rooms are clean and well appointed. I'm coming back!

If you are looking for a relaxing winter Jersey shore experience - yes. . I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming that places to eat and shop are open. Ocean Plaza is less than a block away from the boardwalk. It's a great stretch of walking while being able to see the ocean. The main street in Ocean Grove has plenty of nice shops to stop at. Don't miss the proper British Pie place. Yum! As far as Ocean Plaza Hotel - they are top notch! The two rooms that I have seen are fantastic. The linens and beds are super comfie. The breakfast set up is off the charts - IMO. Don't miss the crumb cake. Delish. I don't often have a reason to go to Ocean Grove, but I will never stay anyplace other than Ocean Plaza Hotel. Customer service is A++++
In answer to your inquiry - we do have 5 rooms on the first floor at the Ocean Plaza Hotel. We also have a ramp which leads to our front entrance. Since the house was built in 1870 there is no elevator. Our breakfast is served on the 2nd level wrap around porch, however, we are happy to get breakfast and bring it down for anyone who cannot climb stairs - we have café tables and chairs on our first level wrap around porch, or you can sit in the parlor.
I am not positive but I think it is a no pet establishment.
