My sister and I take a trip to Ocean Grove every year for the past 4 years. This year, we decided to stay at the Laingdon Hotel. What a pleasant surprise. The owners were not only kind and considerate but our room was wonderful!
We had a room with French doors that opened to a private balcony with the best views of the ocean you could want. The bathroom was updated and clean. The beautiful, original wooden floors were preserved beautifully, and the antique bed was comfortable and cozy. We opened the doors at night and fell asleep to the peaceful sounds of the ocean.
The morning breakfast consisted of tea, delicious coffee, cereal, fresh muffins, yogurt and breakfast bars.
The Laingdon will be our destination from now on. It’s a gem that is delightful and reasonable priced.
Thank you for a wonderful time at the beach!!!

What is better than coffee and conversation overlooking the ocean? My husband and I wanted a peaceful relaxing get away for our 40th wedding anniversary, and this charming historical hotel turned out to be the perfect spot. The room is comfortable, quiet, and cozy. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Because parking could be a challenge in town, the hotel is in a convenient location to park and leave your car. From the hotel, we easily walked to Main Street for the craft fair and to the Asbury Park boardwalk. Overall, for the hotel's location, hospitality, and room comfort, we would love to go back again soon.

First, the plus side: Beach front with unbeatable views and great little decks. The rooms are not spacious but what space they do have work well. Bathrooms are up to date. The furniture in the room is massive and cramps the space. The place is decorated in a bit of kitsch but I suppose that might also be its charm? The Continental breakfast does not amount to more than packaged Danish but for a peaceful night's sleep and easy access to the beach, it's a great spot. Oh, it's all stairs. No elevator, so be warned!

On a scale of 1-5 we give it a 1. I was there for a wedding and all the rooms were guest at the wedding, so I saw several the rooms and not one is worth what we paid. I was given what they called the sweet for $284.64, the cobwebs in the bathroom and dust on some of the early 1900 furniture, well I would have left if I had booked it myself. The best was the door on the porch did not lock and the outside staircase was right there. The place needs to be taken down before it falls down. The so-called breakfast was coffee or tea and cake.

The Laingdon Hotel is extremely welcoming from the moment you step in. Greeted by a family owned establishment with a lot of history. The decor pulls you into a Victorian time period of rest and relaxation. The rooms are a combination of the distant past with its extremely comfortable beds and up-to-date bathrooms.

Enjoy waking up to the sun rising over the ocean, seagulls flying overhead and early morning joggers. Continental breakfast is promptly served at 8 am. There are outdoor porches as well indoor where you can enjoy your morning coffee and friendly conversation with fellow travelers.

Would recommend highly if you are looking for the full Ocean Grove, NJ experience. For some it’s not modern enough but for others like myself, it’s just right.

This was a well designed property years ago but has clearly lost its charm. The owners have not renovated much (if anything) over the past ten years and the high nightly room rate is out of line with the hotel experience. My wife and I stayed here just recently and found the physical property shabby; worn carpets, uneven floors, leaking exterior doors, cracked and chipped paint, etc. For the price, we'll stay at another property next time we visit O.G.

We had a wonderful first time stay at the Laingdon. Smallish but perfect room on the 4th floor with an ocean view in a historic, beautifully kept victorian. Morning coffee was excellent, continental breakfast could perhaps be more interesting, but no complaints as Angie & Bill are so nice and accomodating. Across from the OG beach, convenient to walk to restaurants, very quiet & safe. Tip! It took me a day to figure out they have beach umbrellas to borrow, and that the second floor oceanfront balcony is for all to use!

So happy with our week stay! This family run B&B is delightful, with so many thoughtful amenities. Everyone went out of there way to be helpful. The location, right on the beach and close to great activities, couldn't have been better. Looking forward to our next trip to the Grove!

I read some reviews on here that were scary. Not sure where those people stayed. Yes, the hotel is dated, but it's also in great condition. It's supposed to be dated. It's a Victorian. Not the holiday inn. Views were amazing, directly across from the beach. Everything in walking distance. Staff very friendly and accommodating. I am a very picky person, as is my boyfriend, and we were both very happy. We'll be back.

Outrageous price of $293 per night for two nights. Tiny room with hardly any room to walk around plus hotel is an ancient fire trap. For that price get a nice comfortable room elsewhere. Maybe $125 a summer night is a fair price.

do they have tea, tea bags, milk, cup for the guests 24/7?
Answer from tlg685

I don't recall there being hair dryers as I always bring my own... but there may be one hanging in a bag on the bathroom door. You can give them a call to double check. The Inn does not have laundry facilities but there is a Launderette at 42 Main Ave a few blocks away. Since you've not been to that area before you might trying walking down the boardwalk (to the left when facing the ocean) toward Asbury Park for dinner. It's a stone's throw away and there are several good restaurants right on the boardwalk. The Cuban one is our favorite. Ocean Grove is a dry town so if you like a glass of wine with dinner, it's nice to have Asbury Park as an option so close by. Hope you enjoy your time there!
