Excellent experience! The manager Denise was very accommodating and helpful. We were even allowed to check in early. Less than half mile from the beach. The family suite is very comfortable. We will definitely go back.

I stayed here for a long girls weekend and it was perfect. The room was spacious, clean, updated (no rugs!), bright, good AC, large mini fridge, near pool, and best of all, it had a full length mirror! LOL The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Two blocks to the boardwalk makes it a great location. I would definitely stay here again.

My 10 year old daughter stayed there for 1 night for Mother's Day weekend. We were very pleasantly surprised and will definitely stay there again. Clean, centrally located; great restaurants in walking distance.

Arrived on July 31st for a 4 night stay. We arrived before check in time, so the room was not ready, but they did allow us to park in the lot so we could go to the beach while waiting for our room. The walk to the beach is 2 very long blocks, so if you have a lot of gear, it will be difficult. We returned and the room was neat and smelled clean. The furniture is old and there is not a lot of "closet" space to hang clothes, but it was ok. I went to take a shower and there was no water flow in the shower (oh and there is no faucet to fill the tub, if you have little ones). My husband went to the front desk to advise them that the shower was not working and it was very difficult to get clean (especially after spending hours at the beach) . He was told that the owner wasn't there but would be advised of the situation, and a plumber would be called. The next day we returned to our room, and the shower was not fixed. He again went to the front desk where Denise told him she would look at it when we went to dinner. No change when we returned, and no plumber. Monday (day 3) I went into the shower after being decimated by a wave and
loaded with sand in my hair and bathing suit (they have no outdoor shower, even by the pool to rinse off with) and again no water flow, without exaggeration, it took me over 20 minutes to get the sand out of my hair which is shoulder length). I was more then annoyed, and went to the front desk. Denise told me the plumber called and said he wouldn't make it, but she would try swapping out the shower head when we left for dinner. She also said she would be discounting our room rate due the the inconvenience of the 3 days. She did offer a free night, but we were unable to stay another day. Returning from dinner, the shower head had been changed, and low and behold a normal shower was able to be taken on our last day there. I called Denise on our way home on Wednesday (the office doesn't open until 9 am), and left a message asking how the discount would be given to us, ie a credit on our credit card). She text my husband and said she was in a call. She never returned our call or advised of how the discount would be applied. I called her on Thursday and she said she never said that, that we had already received a discounted rate. (This reservation was originally for 2020 but had to be cancelled due to Covid, we were not able to be refunded our deposit, so it was held over for 2021) so apparently she now thinks because we paid a deposit in 2020 for slightly less then 2021 rates, that this is the discounted rate.
Would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel was very convenient to the boardwalk. The rooms were nice and decent size. However, I did not like how the bathroom sink was outside of the bathroom when the size of the bathroom was big and empty. A lot of parts around the room were broken like the dresser, side of the bed. The beds were also small and not as comfy as I expected. If I’m ever down here for Jenkisons boardwalk, I might book this place again because of the location. But, there isn’t any breakfast and lunch spots around and if you re looking for convenience stores it’s a bit of a walk as well.

Arrived on a Monday afternoon in June and was surprised our room was ready. That was the only good thing other than it being within walking distance to the boardwalk. The WiFi was out, the pool was closed(my sister is on crutches, can't walk on the beach) than to top it all off No Hot water! I understand things happen but this was to much. we both had a flight out of state on Tuesday, one international and could not take a shower in the morning. Denise the manager stated she would try to get me compensation. I texted her 3 weeks after our stay asking if she heard anything, never heard back. that was 3 weeks ago. Poor Manager!

This place is terrible !! I heard of non smoking rooms but never heard of a place where you have to completely leave the premises to smoke. Was told there was ice !! me and other hotel guests we’re like looking for it only to find out it is locked up and u can only have someone in the front office get it for you when the office is open. There was people running all day and night above us that we couldnt get any sleep. The lady at the front desk was very rude. I will definitely be looking for somewhere else to stay when i stay in Point Pleasant … An all around Disappointment Never Again

Cute motel only five min walk to boardwalk and beach. Stayed in corner room with two adults and two kids. Very clean room. No issues with noise. Front desk was very pleasant. Has a pool but we didn’t get a chance to use. Would recommend.

For a privately-run hotel down the shore, this was a lovely property and a good choice overall. While researching lodging options, I had three requirements, all of which Pelican Point fulfilled: spanking clean, a nice pool and walking distance to the beach/boardwalk. The reason I give it an average review is for the following reasons: 1) the room was very dark all day but especially at night; the only lighting was a single table lamp and a sconce that rocked in place on the wall above the bed. Whatever kind of light bulb they use seems to cast an unwelcome, non-cozy hue over the room. They should consider adding one or two more lamps to the room; outlets abound. At minimum, a lamp on both night tables would have been appreciated. 2) The bed was pretty bad. We had a King size bed that dropped off like a cliff on one side. Nevertheless, the furniture was white and happy and the room (and bathroom) were both sparkling clean. 3) Unfortunately, as would be the case in any hotel that close to the beach, an inevitable level of moisture pervades the furnishings and textiles. When we had the air conditioning on it was fine but when we turned it down, the room smelled faintly of mildew. I couldn't place the root of it at first but realized on Day Two that in fact the stench derived from the dresser drawers. The wood probably soaks up the moisture and hangs onto it forever because our clothes were literally moist and each drawer smelled worse than the last. The room could have benefited from a dehumidifier and a set of plastic drawers. Once I realized the mildew emanated from the dresser, I was compelled to remove all my clothes.

As far as amenities, the pool was small but spectacular for a tiny motel. It was sparkling clean and inviting and there are towels for pool use which was much appreciated. The lobby is also lovely and the owner was very nice and helpful. (Can't say the same for one staff member but she was just an unpleasant person, it clearly wasn't personal). There's a vending machine toward the back with soda and there is an ice cooler in the lobby to fill your bucket. The fridge in the room seemed new and very clean and the microwave was great to have. Note, however, there are no plates or paper towels (or even tissues!) to be found so bring your own. Breakfast is donuts and Keurig on-cup coffee but there is a diner and a specialty coffee place in town, only three blocks west and very walkable. Pelican's location can't be beat, as mentioned, perfectly situated between town and the boardwalk.

Except for the overwhelming smell and lighting issues, it was a good choice. I can't imagine that the mildew/moisture issue would be very different at another hotel in the immediate proximity. If I were to make suggestions to the management, some steps should be taken to off-set the mildew and rooms should have more lamps (tissues wouldn't hurt either).

My friends, family, and I decided on an impromptu visit to Point Pleasant and came across the Pelican Point Motel in June 2015. It was very convenient, clean, and family friendly. I was impressed with all the amenities it had to offer at a reasonable price. It was definitely worth staying the entire weekend. Ann & Sue, among the other employees, were very welcoming! I have already referred this place to many friends and co-workers. I am looking forward to going back again someday soon.
