We stayed at the Amethyst Beach Motel for two nights. We went for a quick family beach vacation. We arrived several hours before the noted check in time and the staff to their best to get us within the room within 45 minutes. The women cleaning the rooms were working very hard and the owner told us just to be patient and we could wait by the pool. We did so. Upon entering the room we found it was very clean but there was a lot of updates that could've been done to the room. Our bed headboard was shakey, carpets were ripped up from the floor and the bath tile was dated and cracked. Since we had an efficiency suite I was told that we would have kitchen utensils to cook with on the burner but there was nothing to cook with in the room. It didn't matter because we ate our meals out anyway.

The good
*friendly staff
*good size pool with clean pool area and deck
* close to beach and boardwalk
*ample parking
* wall AC kept room cool.
*nice channel selection on TV
* room was clean
*Housekeeping was very attentive to needs.

The not so good
* rooms in need of repairs
* tight squeeze for a family of 4
* The barbecue grill that was described as an amenity they charge $15 to use
* Continental breakfast was noted as an amenity in the room.. they had coffee. Nothing else.
No cookware or dishes as described in room online.
*Very few outlets to charge devices.. we charged the kids tablets in the bathroom.

I would say overall it's good for a couple nights. Anything longer I think we would have felt trapped when in the room. We spent most of our time at the pool and beach.

Thank your for your review, apologies for the misunderstanding about utensils as we never provide them. Renovations where underway until the Mayor Kanitra, Council members Viatle, Byrnes, Testa voted to take our property by invoking Eminent Domain to knock it down take our parking lots and add more day tripper parking! Three of our senior councilman voted against it. Mayor Kanitra Broke the tie by voting YES. We hope to complete renovations at the conclusion of our law suit against the Mayor and his minions as their motives to build a parking lot are simply not true

If you're a go with the flow type person, this is a wonderful place to stay! Theresa & Dennis did a wonderful job of making us feel right at home. We arrived several hours before check in, and they were gracious enough to let us check in early and get started with our day.
Quick walk to Point Pleasant boardwalk. Hotel has an immaculate grilling station with several gas grills. $15.- and you can grill up a storm! We brought most of our own food and had a superb bbq poolside, with the classic rock piping thru the hotel speakers, and didn't have to spend a fortune on crappy, expensive boardwalk food.....
The Amethyst has got everything you'd want in a Jersey Shore beach motel. Family owned for over 55 years, I liked that as well! We will definitely be back next year!

Last June was my first stay at the Amethyst. It will now be my forever place to stay. I just booked my upcoming summer week vacation and the front desk staff was extremely nice and professional! They even allowed me to pick the room we wanted facing the boardwalk where my son likes to look out the window to see his favorite rope climbing activity on the boardwalk. The location was perfect we didn’t use our car at all and it made it feel like more of a vacation! We love that the pool at this hotel has a diving board too. I forgot my blow dryer and the hotel provided me one to keep for my entire stay there. We are looking forward to coming back this July!

Man this hotel has so much potential being so close to jenkinsons board walk. If you’re a couple or single person with no kids you could skate staying here. But if you’re looking for comfort and peace of mind, you won’t get that here. The people we encountered were nice, but that’s the only good thing about this place. We wanted a place we could walk to and from to get to the boardwalk without having to drive (we intended on drinking) so location was huge for us. We have two kids. We don’t get out much so when we take trips it means ALOT to us. Anyways we picked this place because it was cheapest for our dates and they’re the only hotel that answered the phone. Idk why none of the surrounding hotels didn’t answer the phones when I was calling but whatever. So this place is crusty. I mean dated, old, and just not comfortable. The walls are super thin like you can hear who’s rooming next to you. So if you stay here, pray you don’t get placed near partiers. I laid down on the bed for like 10min to chill out after unloading our bags and when I sat up I saw a bug crawling on my pillow. When I went to shower later I killed a huge spider in the bathroom. I didn’t get a photo since I was in parent mode and instinctively killed it and disposed of it immediately. I mean The photos really speak for themselves I shouldn’t have to explain much. I hate to be so grim but DAMN. With such a prime location you’d think they’d invest in updating the place. When I pay anything over $100 a night I expect a level of comfort and decency in the accommodations I’m paying for. This was not worth $149 a night. So if you want to be close, find another hotel that’s worth the dollar but honestly the surrounding hotels looked just as old and crusty looking as well. If you don’t mind driving/ubering get a holiday inn or something.

Please accept our apologies as we had no idea that the issues you raised occurred. We are currently renovating Baths and rooms however this was not one of them. Having said that there is no excuse for having to deal with issues when you are traveling to have a good time. Its been a tough year for everyone and if you had let us know we could have offered another accommodation or provided you with options. Please contact us as we would like to personally discuss what we can do to make up for this singular event in our facility this past weekend. We did not experience with a full house any other customer issues however that does not excuse this.

Set your expectations.

This is not a chain property. It’s a classic Jersey Shore family run motel needing updates.

The good: The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating and the parking staff was very thorough. Check in was a breeze. The location is great - couple blocks from the heart of Point Pleasant Boardwalk. The ice machine worked. Good shower water pressure and the toilet did not run. The fridge was clean.
And the pool courtyard was VERY loud and resonating, but with our door shut and drapes drawn, we could not hear much noise. The window unit AC was cold and cooled the entire room. The room smelled normal.

The not so good: the room conditions were below average. While technically “clean”, the room and bathroom are in desperate need of an overhaul. The bathroom is held together with years and years of caulk on top of caulk. The kitchen sink was mounted to the counter top with 4 visible screws. I tore my shorts on an exposed nail on the edge of the table.

If you are looking for a prime location and understand this property is below average, it will suit your needs. We look forward to a much needed renovation.

Thank you. We maintain a clean facility, renovations where underway until the Mayor of Point Pleasant Beach and his three council puppets obstructed us by attempting to take our property through Eminent Domain. We hope to complete renovations however Mayor Kanitra of Point Needs to work with us not obstruct us.

After a terrible night spent at this place we found out why the rooms were filthy, smelled like dirty socks and there was drinking and noise all night and passed out guests by our room.
They rent out rooms for placement of homeless people who essentially live there.
The room smelled foul and the bathroom had cracked tiles , dirty fixtures and as a homey touch, urine in the toilet. We cleaned the room with disinfectant wipes and endured a terrible night there only because we had no place else to go. The front desk was completely dismissive of our concerns and said to call and speak to the owner later. We did call and no one returned our messages.
I have stayed in $15 youth hostels in Athens Greece as a teenager that were cleaner and better run.
The idea that people could book rooms here for a family getaway and spend their hard earned money to sleep in a filthy smelly room with drunk people who live there making noise all night is disturbing to me.
Don’t ruin your trip by staying at this awful place.
There are lovely, clean, well run ( and get this- LOWER PRICED!) motels nearby.

I had the most horrible and disturbing night at this motel that I have every had in my entire life. This place is filthy, unsafe and horribly run. Whatever you do don't give them your hard earned dollar. The carpet was ancient, dirty, stained and smelled strongly of dirty feet. A single stained, tattered chair with a table and broken telephone furnished the room. They are not taking extra precautions to keep the rooms clean during Covid. In addition, there is NO SECURITY. The gate is not locked and anyone can enter the property at any time of night. During my stay I woken up by an out of control drunken group of men screaming, hollering and carrying-on, uninterrupted until 3 a.m. outside on the patio that all the rooms surround. When I opened my door to see what was happening there was an unconscious drunk passed out on my doorstep. When I complained to the front desk in the morning she was defensive, indifferent and told me manager would call me. They never did. They will not return my calls and have hung up on me. Boycott the Amethyst Beach Motel, they are a total sham! There are plenty of respectable and decent motels throughout Point Pleasant beach such as the Atlantic Motel.

A member of the same of the same user that has posted here along with you in and effort to mislead and smear us. We have responded to to you on many platforms however nothing we can say seems to be acceptable. We taker responsibility for mistakes and we certainly do make some and this summer was especially difficult as we were all shut down with a three day notice we could reopen. As we have stated on other platforms "The truth of what we ascertained is that a group of guests returned late and disturbed you and some of our other guests, for that we apologize however this happens at times on the weekends and we do our best to respond! As for the conditions of the room we find even at the end of a long season this just not accurate. Gates to the hotel our never locked as that would pose a fire safety hazard! "

This hotel was clean, bed was comfy, shower strong. The best is the location. What totally turned us off is that they charged a resort fee that included: coffee/muffins (the coffee came out at about 9 am-too late for us!), internet that was impossible to use, and the pool….really? Also charged 15$ to park, and if you wanted to use the bbq grill? That will cost you 15$ 😳
They also advertise a cafe/bar onsite- no such thing.
They should just charge more per night and then I wouldn’t feel like they are trying nickel/dime us!
However I would not go back as we found a few other places to stay for next time!

Came to point pleasant for the day to enjoy the beach. Booked this motel online after reading some reviews, both good and bad, and decided to give it a try. The bad reviews don’t paint an accurate picture if just how horribly maintained this motel is. The woman on the phone prior to our arrival was very pleasant and even “upgraded” our room at no additional cost. Well I’d hate to see what we would have gotten if she didn’t. The stairs and the walkway are scary to say the least and the rubber on the floor is buckled making it even harder to navigate while carrying your belongings to your room.
The room was a decent size and “clean” but so outdated and unkempt that the light fixtures were hanging off. You have a small fridge and microwave in what I believe would be a closet. You definitely want to stop before your arrival and grab some water or drinks because they don’t offer you any and can’t give you change for the machine on the side of the establishment (which didn’t take dollars anyway). Didn’t use the pool but I would say it’s the only thing the maintain. It was clean from what I could see. They charged an up charge for parking, 25$, a 40$ “misc fee” plus a 15$ “resort” fee bringing my total for one night in this dump to 300$. I could have stayed in a 4 star hotel for a night for that much! How do they justify their fees?? I know this is a family owned business and I understand times are tough. But you owe it to yourselves as business owners and to the people choosing your services to put some of that ridiculous fees to upgrading your motel. Just truly a disappointment!

Thanks, for what is a highly inaccurate and exaggerated review. We are not perfect but far from what is represented here. A disgruntled customer is unavoidable and along with that comes a review such as this. We tried our best to accommodate them however nothing we did was right. The whether did not help. To all who read this review remember of the 1000',s of customer we serve if is the unhappy ones who post the most often, and the majority return home without ever writing haw happy they were with their stay. For those who take the time to post solid honest review, we thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to post.

The entire staff at the Amethyst Beach Motel are accommodating, attentive, courteous, friendly, helpful, and genuinely care that their guests are comfortable and enjoy their stay. The motel is well managed and well maintained. The rooms are pristine and spacious. It is nice to return to a sparkling clean pool, after a day at the beach, boardwalk, restaurants or shops, which are conveniently located near the motel. I have been staying at the Amethyst since 2017 and look forward to my next stay when I visit Point Pleasant Beach.

Resort fees are optional, and management is very flexible when it comes to providing accommodations to its customers. Alway give a call and discuss your needs and Amethyst staff will do its best to make you happy.

Amethyst has the best location closest to boardwalk and centrally located parking lot is managed as the close proximity to boardwalk beach parking requires parking attendants to manage guests parking and public parking this assures guests will always have a spot.

You can also get two adjoining rooms on the first floor which would sleep 4 with an option for a sleeping bag sleeper - it would be tight but might work
