I had to travel to Tom's River for a funeral. Finance was an issue. Decided to try Motel 6 in spite of mixed reviews. There are shortcomings: no cup in bathroom, no face clothes. But it was a good value. Clean room, comfortable bed, flat screen TV. I recommend it providing you are not expecting the Ritz.

my wife and i were pleased, since we didn't expect much, and just needed to crash the night somewhere cheap, cool, and clean with no frills. on a friday, we paid $109 base, plus the 12% tax (state 7 + occupancy 5). twin bed
tiny room. open the door, there's the bed. then a small path to walk, then a wall (which hid the bathroom behind.) good enough heat and air.
clean room, sheets, bathroom. no bugs. quiet, even thought we stayed next to the office on the 1st level. 7 miles to the beach, straight down SR37. courteous and friendly front desk, as long as you're not ethnically bothered and can't be patient enough to interpret a heavy but kind Indian accent.
if all you need is a clean spot to squat for the night (and still be close enough to the beach), then this will do, at a cheap price.
WARNING: [Unrelated to the Rodeway Inn], do NOT choose the cheap motel alternative across the street called "Gilford Park" on SR37, unless you want to pack DOG TICKS to come home with you. We found 8 dog ticks at Gilford Park crawling on the carpets, then running underneath the carpets when detected by flashlight. Again, this is not related to RodeWay Inn; but we wanted to warn anybody trying to cut costs ($70/night on a saturday!) by trying across the street.

Wanted a basic, clean hotel near Seaside Heights, NJ. Would rather have stayed right in Seaside Heights, but motels were either more than I wanted to spend and/ or had a three-night minimum stay on weekends. Tried for the nearby HoJo but was browsing other hotels and when I checked back an hour later, they had no rooms left! Rodeway was definitely not my first choice.
Overall, the review below by phi11yphan is very accurate and described the room and staff to a T! The only comments I would add are that our pillowcases did not look fresh. They were quite wrinkled...and not the type of wrinkled that comes from the dryer! They actually looked used. I ended up wrapping my beach towel (which was clean!) around my pillow.
I believe the hotel was supposed to offer a free continental breakfast, but it was not mentioned at all. The "breakfast bar" was actually a small counter in the lobby...and the lobby was as small as the rooms! We did not even bother to ask about it. I did notice a coffee machine and an ice-maker on the counter (never saw one of those before...it apparently made ice in seven minutes!). They had an outdoor pool which looked clean from a distance (we did not use it).
Would I stay here again? Probably yes, if the circumstances were the same...a one-night stay just to be near the beach without spending a bundle.

the staff person was very helpful in getting a clean and noiseless room. when we got there we were put in a room that was next to the highway and was noisy and the refrigerator was not working and the shower floor was filthy. so we requested a change and got it and we were satisfied

Motel 6 Review
We came to the 2015 Route 37 E, Toms River, New Jersey, 08753 location to stay for the week. We stayed in room 204. The worst week ever! We’re a family of 5 in a tiny room. The place stank of feet and only get 2 towels and one bath mat for 5 adults and one child. The manager is extremely rude and wears the same shirt every day. I brought the two dirty towels and bath mat and asked for 4 towels and a bath mat. The manager rudely said “No! Two towels and 1 bath mat” and I explained to him how many people that are staying in our room but didnt listen to me! He gave me the clean towels and shoved them at me! The bathroom door is broken and doesn’t shut all the way and you can’t even lock the bathroom. There’s no microwave and didnt provide me with a microwave. You have to heat your food with the microwave in the office. Their WiFi sucks tremendously! The cable doesn’t even work!!The office reeks of body odor. The front door barely works and they key for the door sometimes doesn’t work!
Never staying at the dump ever again and I advise others to stay away from! This is why I gave it 1 star ⭐️

My friends stayed there over night and there was no heat or hotwater. The frig was also not working. There were holes in the walls where mice were coming in. It was a horrendous experience for them. I will never put in anyone there again.
