All of the staff is really friendly except for a man named Ray who is apparently a "boss" at this camp ground. His approached is extremely unprofessional. He screamed in mine and my 8 yr old daughters face while smelling like booze and pot. He did not have a staff shirt on. While I was driving my golf cart he sped his tires in his vehicle and cut me off stopped on front of my cart got out of his car and starting screaming. I asked who he was he said the boss and took my golf cart keys my daughter is deathly afraid of this man. And I'm so disappointed surf and stream has such a horrible employee. Meanwhile he is the only one without a staff shirt on. He should not be working with the public or around children being he has mental issues. He is a ticking time bomb. And I will not be visiting my mother's camper in the future he has given me and my daughter a horrible experience. Very scary man

This place is not run like a campground should be. The "staff" were more or less the residents of the campground. 95% of the sites were full time and the sites that were rentable were small and unkept. The utilities on our site were not conveniently located as we used 35' of power cord and 20' of sewer hose. (Good thing I had it). We were less than two feet from rundown trailers on either side and backing in was very tight. Friends of ours were on a pull thru and were guided in the wrong way in the dark putting their utilities on the wrong side. There was no playground for the 7 kids we had with us, and there were a flock of smelly chickens wandering around. We were not impressed and will not be returning.

Campground views are beautiful if you are on the very end with the river. Entry pretty, outside campsite/office nice, public area with ping pong, shuffle board, plenty of seats and a large pretty fire pit which is kept burning. Pools both kiddie and adult are nice and sit up on a hill overlooking campground along with volleyball, basketball.
Now, the Con's : imagine cardboard city .. or in this case run down trailers all with their own dilapidated fences. I understand the other reviews now when the speak of approximately 85% of the people live here permanently. They are the poor souls who spend their days & nights walking around with large bottles of liquor and smoking weed. The inside of camp store/office/food counter need a complete overhaul, ceiling is dirty wet tiles etc. It's a shame could be a beautiful campground but, they seem to think it's normal. If they would make people clean up their act and enforce a few rules this place would be a gold mine. It could have the look of a Resort Chalet but, much work needed. Unfortunately, we won't be back. A few photos, hence the orange cords all over.

Fell in love with the city and this campground was the perfect location to see and do almost everything. I had a beautiful spot on the river. The only complaint is it could use a few extra lights in the bathroom. The pool was clean, the campgrounds had someone go around and collect trash. Will definitely be returning

This park is completely run down. The site I had was across from what can be best described as a junk yard. Most of the sites are full timers with mold covered campers. Many late night noisy motorcycles. I talked to the lady at the office and she said "you should have seen it years ago". Not the best response. She said ownership was "working on" cleaning up the park. Based on what I saw and experienced, this will take a few years and I'd find someplace else. I've found you shouldn't trust Good Sam ratings on this or other parks.

I would not recommend this campground at all. First, I really wouldn't call it a campground. 80% of the sites are permanent and most of these sites are run down with very old dilapidated "trailers" on them. There was a continous stench of Marijuana when walking around the campground. It seemed as though most of the staff were residents of the campground and I don't think the campground offered a dental plan if you know what I mean. I am not sure where they took the pictures that are posted on their brochure and website, but it wasn't at the campground. The stream that had shown people kayaking in it on the website, was full of trash and was red in color. No one would dare to go into it. I gave this campground one star because it did have a nice pool, which was nice to use when the bikers and their girlfriends weren't groping each other in it. This is definately not a family campground. I felt unsafe and would not let my kids out of my sight. The store was dumpy and had a restaurant in it but only the staff was eating there, it looked very unsanitary. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, this place is the pits and the worst campground I have ever stayed at.

People beware: This is not a RV site that is suitable for people going on a vacation. Management was sitting around the counter when we entered to ask a question and pay for something. All workers just sit around right outside and stare at you not saying a word when you walk by. Not one person there turned their head to greet us. REMEMBER OWNERS: CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE #1 PRIORITY WHEN YOU ARE IN THE SERVICE BUSINESS or you would not have a business. I normally do not write reviews but I have visited over 200 RV sites in NJ/NY/CT/Maine and this is by far the worst!! There was a creepy guy driving around in a limo all day / night and never got out of it, we even said hello and he just stared at us extremely creepy, I even have pictures/video of him doing this. If I had children there would be no way I would allow them to play without us what a shame very very scarey. I met three other couples who told me they DID NOT let their kids out of their site in fear of this weirdo!! There are no activities at all, oh they have one ping pong table.. The place is seriously run down and chickens were all over the place and poop in the river. Most of the RV sites are actually people that live there. Surf and Stream should not be open to vacationers, just keep it as a very run down permanent RV site for older people.Get your deposit back, there are two extremely GREAT RV sites right near great adventure we toured WOW what a difference. It is not that much further away. People were so nice and so many activities for all and very clean and well kept!!!

Arrival: There was no one there to greet us and no signs stating where to go. The "security guard" approached us after we had turned the wrong way and told us we had to back up our trailer in order to get to our site.

Set up: While my husband backed up the trailer into our campsite a car came flying down the street we were on and tried to drive around the truck. The guy was high, you could see and smell the billowing clouds of marijuana smoke coming from the vehicle. Well, because he was obviously high, he drove into someones camp site and ran over a wood cover.

Campground: TRASHY!! Literally there were bags of trash, old piles of leaves and a lot of the campers looked like they had been abandoned there 10 years prior. There was NO WHERE to even walk our dog. Every camp site was right on top of the other. There was NO privacy. When we got there, our neighbor said that he had been plugged into our electric for over a week because no one would fix his.

Safety: I was reluctant to leave my dog in my trailer. Unfortunately we had to leave for a funeral. When we returned after 2.5 hours, we found that our AC wasn't running. I am so thankful it was not a 90 degree day because we discovered someone had unplugged our camper. WHO WOULD DO THAT?!? I don't get it.

This is not a family friendly luxury campground. We will never go back.

Just left this place after a 2 day stay and it's nothing to write home about. I was there with my husband and 3 year old. We had a tent site on the island and it didn't look like anyone did any upkeep over there. There was trash left at every site and broken glass all over the place. The rest of the campground is more like a trailer park, as it seemed like most people lived there. I wouldn't call it family friendly, either, as nearly every adult there chain smokes. We couldn't swim in the pool without my daughter choking on clouds of smoke. I guess it's an okay place to stay if you don't plan on spending much time on the campground, otherwise pay a little more and stay somewhere else. We definitely won't be returning.

Its a trailer in an RV camp in the middle of Jersey with not a blade of grass to be found. The unit we stayed in was deceptively advertised and what we found was a joke for what they charged. Too many issues to list. Stay in a hotel.

I believe you can. My friend has a camper there, and she locks it all up every fall and it stays there all winter till she opens it all up in the spring.
