This was a reasonably priced quiet place to stay. As far as cleanliness it's only okay. Needs updating bad. Coffee mugs need to be run through a dishwasher or replaced (terribly stained). Gas grills were a nice addition but there was nothing to clean them...More
A good motel offering big rooms fully equipped with all kitchen utensils and a barbecue station. A fascinating ocean view and a walking distance from the Boardwalk. The motel also offer a pool and mini golf. It is disappointing that after all these advantages the...More
Place is extremely old and dirty. Dust everywhere. Rugs are gross bedding and beds even worse. Would not recommend to anyone. Rooms are musty and air conditioning barely does anything. Pictures of the room are highly deceiving. Small and cramped and way over priced.
My husband stayed here as a child every summer for years. We now live in Florida and came up to visit family and decided to show our kids what we grew up with. We love this motel. It's retro... The basics haven't changed... But has...More

It's tough for me to answer because I don't have young children anymore. I did see young children there, but honestly I can't give my opinion on the owners demeanor towards children. I can only tell you based on her response to my honest and diplomatic review, I found her to be insulting and disrespectful to me, and my fair review of her hotel. I suggest reading all reviews. My suggestion with a large group is to rent a condo for the week, either at Monarch or Aqua Beach. They are both very close to Boardwalk, and bike rentals. Most condos sleep 6 perhaps 7, and with a large group, you can rent two, and split it between families. I know it pricey, but you can have all the comforts of home as a group, and enjoy the pools and short distance to Boardwalk. Gold Crest, although walking distance is too far from the Boardwalk, it's not a place I would have stayed when my then teenagers wanted to go to Boardwalk alone, and walk home at night. I can tell you the motel was very quiet at night, and that made it more enjoyable. If you have a noisy bunch, which you openly admit (good for you) then I'd consider staying closer to the action! Gold crest does have a concert across the street on Saturday's. I enjoyed that tremendously, and I'm sure your family would too but ages 5-18, try looking closer to Boardwalk. You wont want to be dragging the little ones home down to Gold Crest, and you'll feel better letting your 15-18 year olds chill at the Boardwalk for a little longer without the parents! Happy Finding, and Book Early!

"2 end unites have ocean view and kitchen, worth the extra five dollars."
