Great place to have a relaxing holiday with beautiful views of the Drakensberg. You can also go on various guided walks & hikes from 1km to 19kms. The Al a Carte dinner and breakfasts are also excellent.

Our first visit to the Drakensberg and Montusi Mountain Lodge was the perfect place to stay. A lovely warm welcome and we immediately felt comfortable, relaxed and very quickly 'at home' with our surroundings. The view of the amphitheatre and the Drakensberg from our quiet, private and very comfortable room was stunning, from sunrise to sunset. We had some lovely meals in the restaurant, the menu choice and service was excellent. We particularly enjoyed our post-breakfast walks around the trails on the Montusi estate with Victor who helped us to appreciate and understand this amazing part of South Africa. A wonderful start to our holiday.

One of the friendliest places! All of the staff are amazingly warm and welcoming. There’s so much to do in terms of hiking, riding, biking and generally just enjoying the views. All the staff took the time to get to know you and went out of their way to make it a special stay. Would definitely go back. Oh also the food is amazing!

Perfect location, nice staff, interested in our wellbeing. It feels like you're in a painting, nature is almost overwhelming, so beautiful. Food was great. Lodge as well, clean, good facilities! Enough to do, hiking/walking around the location but you can go to the national park as well. Or enjoy the pool or a massage ;)

We stayed at the montusi lodge with our family (2 kids, aged 12 and 15), and we had a fantastic time. The lodges are fully equipped and wonderfully spacious. The surroundings are beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There is lots to do and experience - we esp. liked the hikes - and the Drakensbergen Mountains are not far away. Finally, we enjoyed the food. A fantastic stay!

So proud of myself for finding this gem of a resort in the Drakensberg! Food is 5* amazing, all the staff incredibly efficient and so friendly and caring it’s definitely a trickle down from the owners/managers. Incredible resort with so many activities from horse 🐎 riding to 4X4 mountain drives, a full Spa facility and of course hiking. Beautiful views. Fabulous gardens 🪴 and extremely comfortable and well appointed rooms! Will be back for sure. Duduzani managed our 5 day all inclusive package with aplomb ⭐️ caters to children of all ages.

Spectacular quiet getaway in the northern berg, where luxury meets the mountains. rooms very neat and tidy with a great fireplace to keep warm. Staff very friendly and professional. Big shout out to the managers Mic and Lindsay for taking care of all our needs and making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Great walks from the lodge into the mountains or just relax by the pool. Horse riding and mountain biking for the more adventurous.

Montusi! What a gold mine! Visiting from the UK I booked a 2 night stay for me and my 75 year old Dad. The rooms were spotless and luxurious with no steps for easy access. (Most comfortable beds ever by the way!) Our hosts Lindsay and Mic went beyond the call of duty to ensure we had a memorable stay. Mic recommended areas of interest to visit. One being Bushman’s cave a short walk from the resort with clearly visible Bushmen paintings thousands of years old. The view of the Drakensberg mountain range from the resort and our bungalow was to die for. At night the sky was showing off, with no light pollution, stars littered the sky brightly. The dining room had a fire place lit both for morning and evening service creating warmth and ambiance. The ever changing menu of local cuisine was mouth watering making the choice somewhat a challenge. 1st night I had the amazing Ostrich steak soft as butter. Dad ordered the Tuna steak which was top restaurant quality. Head Chef’s attention for detail very apparent. The 2nd night we both ordered the short rib of beef off the bone on creamy gnocchi in a gorgeous sauce. After dinner we enjoyed a few drinks at the well stoked bar. Wine list really impressed with a number of local classics. The bar tender entertained us telling stories of local cultures and traditions with a great sense of humour. We spent the evening chatting to both international and local guests. To kick start the day, breakfast with local boerewors sausage, sweetcorn fritters and cornbread stole the show. With the 100 chickens kept free range on the resort, eggs came double yoked. Cannot recommend Montsuti enough. Great value for money, amazing food, great facilities and service. Lindsay manages the 2nd generation resort with passion and enthusiasm which felt as if we were welcomed into their family home.

This place is an absolute gem that the international travel community should know about! Very easy transfer from Durban (or Johannesburg) to get here (in case you don’t drive on the left like me); the highways getting here are very safe and straightforward and full of rest areas and stops. The entire staff at Montusi are excellent and really go out of their way to make your time and experience truly special at Montusi - from management to service staff. Truly amazing. Lindsay is an amazing manager. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, and I could spend all day just walking around it. You don’t have to go far to have a great hike. There is an easy quick trail right from the hotel entrance that leads to bushman cave paintings with a spectacular view. I encourage the hotel to partner up with Wild Routes Africa for transfer services for internationals from Durban and Johannesburg, as that was an amazing and seamless experience with excellent customer service for us. There was another company Champagne Shuttle & Transfers that we were previously recommended that turned out to be an awful and terrible experience for us. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

We will add them to our list of partners for sure. We hope to welcome you back again one day, although it is quite a long way from your home! All the very best, Lindsay

It is really a great place to stay. The room is spacious and you have your own little outside. The food is very nice also for vegetarians you can choose from 3 main options every day. There is enough to do around this lodge so you will not be bored. There is a small Spa tucked away in the attic. Ask the chef for the malva pudding and he will put it on the menu for you😀.
