Beautiful views of the Amphitheatre. Chalets are spread out so noise from neighbours is minimized. Friendly staff at the shop who are always more than willing to help with anything you need. Hiking routes are great and have varied options for different ages and fitness levels. Only negative was that they were doing burning on the mountain and they did...

What a setting....overlooking the world famous Amphitheatre in the Drakensberg. Perfect place to unwind. Chalets are clean and well run. Mind out for Baboons! Great walks in safe environment. Highly recommend. Tip: Ask for chalet No 15 in the upper camp (sleeps 4).

Stayed just the one night in a chalet facing the amazing amphitheatre it was truly breathtaking! Peaceful and tranquil. The pheasants and babies came to our door whilst we lit a fire and admired the view. Comfy chalets with lots of hikes what more could you want.

Surrounded by exquisite scenery , nightly visits from colourful guinea fowl and all day prowling by local baboons compensated for the dated and tired decor. Having said that though it was well equipped and served the purpose which included self catering and a quiet night's sleep. Great hiking and bird watching almost out the door.

We are South Africans so the high Drakensberg is not new to us, yet it continues to inspire with soaring peaks either side of the spectacular amphitheater. Where best to see it? Thendele is simply the best. Inside the provincial park, views are wonder-filled, and the walk along the Thukela River (was Tugela) is stirring stuff. Adequate accommodation, friendly staff,...

Thendele has to have one of the best views in the world. The uninterrupted view of the Amphitheater is magnificent. The accommodation is adequate, but overall a bit shabby and needs a bit of a re-vamp. Our chalet, in the upper camp didn't have a dining table - only a bar counter where we perched to eat our meals. The...

The accommodation in thatched cottages was rustic and a little dated, but spotlessly clean and had all the necessary facilities for self catering. The cottages were serviced daily, which was a help. The outlook onto the Amphitheatre was stunning and the quiet and solitude at night wonderful to experience. All the staff were friendly and helpful, although the shop was...

What more do you want then the stunning sight of the Drakensbergen when you wake up in the early morning?! This is a stunning place to stay, in the top of the mountains with an almost fairytale like view. One you have to experience at least once in your live. The only downside is that the nearest village (and with...

The huts are the usual park style with rendered walls and thatched roofs. They are a little bit dated with a few scuff marks and internal lighting is a bit dull. The single huts are spaced apart for good privacy and in a great location looking onto the mountain escarpment and at the start of the waterfall walk. Avoid hut...

This camp has a upper and a lower part, in each some chalets. The chalets are well equipped, with kitchen, tableware, fridge/small freezer , cutlery. Bring your on food and drinks, camp shop very small with basics (supermarkets in Winterton or Harrismith), exc. Bedroom spacy and clean with an rustic outfit, big TV disturbs a bit the nature experience. The...
