This is a gem of a hotel, tucked away on a quiet street close to the heart of Franschhoek, so easy walking to many of the great restaurants in town. Every comfort is provided in this uniquely (and beautifully) decorated hotel. Each room is different, ours was spacious, comfortable and had a second door opening onto the walled garden with...

Akademie Street redefines the 5 star TripAdvisor rating; ideal location, beautiful rooms and gardens, fantastic facilities, excellent service, plenty of great wine and food, and all the little finishing touches that make you feel like you are really on holiday. Don't miss the homemade museli at breakfast, the sundowner drinks selection, a trip around town on the bikes, or a...

My husband and I stayed at Akademie for two nights, and we couldn't have picked a better place! The hotel itself is breathtakingly serene, from the room to the library to the pool area, everything is beautifully decorated. The morning breakfast was decadent and cooked to order, simply delicious. Very conveniently located just a short walk to main town/restaurants/galleries. Highly...

There are not enough good things we can say about this property. We stayed there in 2009 when it was under previous ownership, and we loved it then. Since that time, it has changed hands and the new owners have done significant upgrades....it is simply the lap of luxury in every single respect. The breakfast is mind-blowing, as are the...

Declan welcomed my husband and I when we arrived at this charming hotel. After the tour of the property it took us no time to feel completely relaxed in our room. Declan told us to gather up our dirty laundry to have done for us the next day. I think that's when he stole my heart! He's a true gentleman...

The level of service and attention to detail at Akademie Street was incredible. We were traveling with another couple, and both of our rooms were unique, well designed, and entirely comfortable. In a town of great food the breakfasts stood out. The best part of the Akademie, though, was the staff. Declan, Meena, and all the staff were fantastic about...

From the moment that Declan (one of the Owners) threw open the front door to greet and welcome us, we quickly realised we had arrived somewhere special. It feels like somebody has thought about all your expectations of a “boutique” style hotel and then set out to exceed them! We stayed in the main house and whilst these rooms are...

One of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. With a view of the mountains lying beside your practically private swimming pool, it offers a unique, luxurious experience. The room has complimentary mini bar services with free wifi and ensuite bathrooms. The room provides you with a classic feel whilst maintaining the standard and luxury that you would expect....

Staying here was a great experience and a real treat for us as we had our own self-contained cottage with kitchen, pool, walled garden and wood fired hot tub/plunge pool. The facilities were so good and the complementary refreshments were so plentiful that we had to tear ourselves away to go into town or do a wine tour. The hotel...
