It is adviseable for locals and tourists to drive the Swartberg pass.. In Prince Albert we stopped at the Swartberg hotel. The owner was also present and very friendly. We had a great bobotie and chicken pie for lunch. Compliments to the chef!

A lovely pretty hotel in the main road. We stayed in room number 1 / it has a door onto a balcony overlooking the main road. The room is a great size with a lovely comfortable bed. But ... The walls are thin and we were above the reception and could hear everything- the phone ringing, the staff talking. The... More

Great service and neat room. Dinner at Victoria room was of the best dishes I ever had. Service up to standard and love the setting. Save parking, lovely bar and could use the reading room for a private conversation. Beautiful garden at the back and a well equipped gym for guests. I enjoyed my stay and will be back in... More

The twin bedded room 7 looked comfortable. Unfortunately there was no blankets in the room or storage linen cupboard and it was a freezing night on the 23rd June. When we went in to the dining room at 19:00 the items on the menu were not available including soup. We even tried to order the baked cheese cake, but als... More

Lovely food but service was a bit tardy and had to send our eggs back twice. They also bring your toast way before your food. The fireplace made the restaurant nice and cozy. There is also a deli where you can buy farm bread.

We visited for dinner and what a pleasant evening it was. Service was attentive and quick and the menu was good with a fair range which should suit most people. We had an excellent main courses of fillet steak and oxtail. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and it was so pleasant sat outside on a balmy evening with cool... More

Lovely atmosphere, old world in feel. Interesting photos & pictures. Old comfortable furniture. Breakfast outside which was excellent. Ate dinner elsewhere so can't comment on that. Overall comfortable friendly and reasonably priced. Secure parking.

We did not stay in the Hotel, but enjoyed drinks and light meals on the veranda, as well as dinner in the main dining room. Excellent quality, brilliant service and lovely "Boerekos". Highly recommended, rich in history.

Charming Victorian style hotel.. Great on- suite double room with veranda and view on main street. Safe off street parking. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant with unbeatable service and a huge variety menu; also a well balanced wine list. Breakfast once again was very good and included in the stay. Very friendly staff, good food, great atmosphere, nice... More
