From the time we arrived to the time we left, Michi and Renate made us feel very welcome. They were the perfect hosts. We were impressed that they had made a booking for dinner on our behalf for our first night to ensure we had somewhere to go. They assisted with the 2nd night as well, including changing the booking...

Michael & Renate are the perfect host and very professional. Everything is spotless clean. Not only the rooms, but also the buildings, the lawn, the pool's, the breakfast area etc. And there was even a NESPRESSO machine in my room. How spoilt can one get. I had the feeling, the owners wanted all to be perfect and clean. Absolute value...

I was blown away by Prince Albert, & even more impressed with this lodge. This lovely, conveniently located Cape Dutch style lodge is surrounded by stunning gardens that offer 2 very inviting pools, with a third "star bath" in a secluded & private area for uninterrupted relaxing. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 'De Bergkant Lodge' is a historical Cape Dutch GuestHouse located in the beautiful, historical town of Prince Albert at the foot of the dramatic Swartberg mountains in the Great Karoo. The 'De Bergkant Lodge' offers their guests four luxurious Suites with lounge, bedroom and en suite bathroom, and five equally well-appointed luxurious Double Rooms with en suite bathroom. All rooms have ceiling fans, air-conditioning, tea- and coffee facilities, TV (with DStv) and most have under-floor heating. All the bathrooms have our famous double showers, Victorian baths and under-floor heating for chilly winter days (which occur just occasionally). Fluffy cotton towels ensure that you feel pampered. All beds are either twin- or king size. Our linen is 100% pure cotton. Breakfast for our guests is served either inside in our poolside dining room or on the terrace in the garden beneath the trees. Much of our fare on our breakfast buffet comes from the village and local farms in and around Prince Albert. Prince Albert is famous for its deciduous fruit and the milk, yoghurt and prize-winning cheese from Gay's Dairy. Guests will enjoy at the 'De Bergkant Lodge' a breakfast which is a delight in taste and presentation. The secluded gardens boast two large saltwater swimming pools: a 15m pool surrounded by verdant lawns and a 10m walled, private pool. We also offer a sauna and steam bath and hidden in a private garden you will find a small "star" bath. ... more   less
