Our recent 2-day stay in the Hideaway was a highlight of our 3 week holiday in South Africa from UK. So glad we chose to stop in the very nice town of Swellendam, and Stephen and Jackie provided true 5-star service: the Hideaway is very well appointed with lovely, clean rooms set in the stunning garden they have created with...

A wonderful place with an outstanding rose garden (beautiful even in autumn), a beautiful natural pool, very friendly and helpful host. Situated in a peaceful little historical town with museum, nice houses and good restaurants.

We were very impressed by the beautiful Hideaway in Swellendam. The large garden behind the house is truly a hideaway and such a lovely place to relax. We were particularly intrigued with the gorgeous eco pool, and the indoor/outdoor breakfast room and lounge. We also found the extensive breakfast to be exceptional. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to try...

When we planned our trip to SA we knew we would need a stopover on route and a pin in the map gave us Swellendam. Swellendam is no pin in the map I can tell you. Drop off the N2 and you enter a different world. Well kept houses in well kept mature gardens on well kept clean roads surrounded...

Positives: The garden is beautiful, and the breakfasts are fantastic. The location is also very good. Jacky was absolutely lovely, hospitable and very friendly. Negatives: I'm surprised that it is listed as 5-star, as I'd say it was more like a good 3-star (I've stayed at many 4 & 5 star establishments locally and internationally). I found Steven to be...

I have stayed at this delightful guest house on three separate occasions and will make it my regular stop when traveling along the N2. To my delight, I found that since my previous visit, the owners had bought adjacent land and had transformed it with a huge Eco-pool and had erected a new "breakfast" room and kitchen alongside the pool....

Superb accommodation in a beautiful location. The gardens are a lovely surprise behind the main house. The views of the mountains are fantastic from the lounge where breakfast and wine in the evening is served. Breakfast was lovely with fresh bread and muffins etc everyday and hot options. The eco pool was refreshing to cool off in with towels provided....

The host of this home was incredibly condescending, accusatory and completely lacking in an understanding of privacy. Staying there for a business trip, he was insensitive to our needs of a decent nights sleep. We will not be returning for business or leisure, nor will we be recommending this to anyone.
