Stayed one night and overall experience was pleasant. Checked-in personnel already expected our arrival and handed the keys quickly for us to settle in the room. The room was spacious but with old style bedding and furniture; however, the bathroom has been renovated with basic amenities. The key highlights of the stay was the breakfast option in the hotel as very good selection of local delicacies like lontong sayur, lupis and the Karo pancake. The hotel also has a very nice pool and well-maintained gardens. Too bad the hotel does not provide lift that could accommodate elderly or pregnant ladies in the hotel.

Room was old, dated & need refurbishment. The TV unit was shocking, you could hardly watch anything from that. The bathroom was smelly and I've raised this with the front desk. The lady said she'd send someone to check & upon returning to the room it was still smelly. I had to buy room refreshner. Hotel was fully booked thus couldn't swap room.
Food was average.
The view on the other hand, was superb. Internet only available in lobby, unsure if it's working.

Food is okay but quite pricey. During my night staying in the hotel, there were a few times of no power supply the whole building. Free wifi but Internet connection is not strong, even it says available in the room, but could not connect. Please take note that this hotel does not have a lift, only staircase. Room cleanliness is okay EXCEPT for the bedsheet and blanket, it contained stains. Nevertheless, front office staff is very good service.

It was so lovely and amazing trip where I can have chance to come and stay at Sinabung Hills Berastagi Medan.

Skip a night from the busy hustle Medan city is a good choice to be in quite fresh cold place and see the nature blend with the great hospitality products and services.

Drove about 2 hours from Medan and recommended during weekdays instead of weekend and when you enter the Hotel area and go inside to the back side of Hotel then you can see how beautiful it is.

Lobby is big enough with plenty of space, nice restaurant with amazing view. Feel like you forgot all your daily activities and feel the fresh air to breathe.

Room is spacious and the view from the balcony was fantastic and love to open the windows during stay.

Pool so big and beautiful garden with lovely colorful flowers everywhere, big Christmas trees everywhere.

Staffs oh so amazing, they are all friendly and always smile and serve you with sincere, you can feel it.

Overall, my one night stay brought me good memories and feel wanna back soon with my family.

Thank you to Mr. Pasaribu (General Manager) and all hia entire teams who gave me warm welcome and good memories during stay.

Love, love this place so much and highly recommended to all families and friends.

Regards, Yeni.
Great thank you to ths General Manager (Mr. Riswan) and his entire teams who gave warm welcome during stay.

Friendly and very efficient staff from reception to restaurant. The spectacular setting within the huge park is difficult to beat. The hotel is close to the town center, local market and restaurants. Plenty of free parking facilities next to hotel entrance.

I will start off by saying I'm not sure there are many better options available, however I was surprised by dirty the hotel was. The first room had a broken toilet and was leaking foul-smelling water. Second room was dingy and without air conditioning smelt stale. food was not that great. A lot of family is present extremely noisy and disruptive, not a place to relax as pictures might imply. you'll need to take a shuttle into downtown. base of the volcano is a bit of a hike from the hotel. left me wishing I had paid more for a different hotel that was cleaner and better location

I came here on the eve of Idul Fitri, and because of that the hotel costs A BOMB. I paid almost US$100 for a night in the lowest-grade of room. I feel that peak period or not, if the hotel has the ability to charge such high prices, then it should ensure that it at least would be satisfactory for that price. Unfortunately, here's why its not.

1. I was early for check in (arrived at 1pm), and asked for a double bed room. The staff told me that there is no indication of bed types on the booking, and therefore had to give me a twin room (I am traveling alone). The reason is that the hotel was full. A quick check on agoda or traveloka immediately showed that there were still available rooms for the booking I had made. Also, if there is no indication of bed types on the booking and I am that early such that check in was not available, shouldn't they be able to allocate the bed preferences on a first-come-first-served basis?

2. Dated rooms. Toilet grouts are black, bath tub is stained, there is no cold water option even though there is a cold water mixer (yes I enjoy my cold water baths even though Berastagi is pretty cold). Also, no lifts so you better be able to climb some stairs with your bags.

3. Free wifi but only in the lobby. What's the use of stating free wifi on my booking if I am not able to use it in the rooms?

4. For what I paid, the breakfast is disappointing.

Now... what if I hadn't visited during the peak period and paid the normal price of about US$30? Would it still be worth it? Unfortunately, I think the answer is still no. I had taken the chance to visit some guest houses around Berastagi. Some of them are not available for booking on online sites, but a guide/local agency should be able to source them out for you. The better guest houses cost just 150-250,000 rp (US10-20), for a comfortably clean room. Some of them do not have AC, but you honestly don't need it in Berastagi because it is pretty cool at night.

That said, the grounds of Sinabung hills are breathaking. I would come here just to chill at the lounge. The hotel is decorated with so many different types of flowers! The landscaping team obiously did a very good job. Hydrangeas were everywhere, and swings have been added to pine trees dotting the area. The view is also amazing, overlooking a valley and a small range of hills behind it.

Let’s start with a positive note: the view is great! Other than that this hotel is a typical example of an investment company only in it for the money. Don’t expect any service or passion over here. Rooms were dirty, stained sheets. A lot of busses are stopping here, as for bigger groups this is the only hotel in Berastagi. You can hear every sound in the rooms, if a small group of people is talking in the lobby, it sounds like just outside your room (and our room was the furthest away)
All in all, choose this if you want that view, otherwise consider choosing a different hotel. I’ll try to review the restaurant as well on a sepetate review, but in short: same disappointing story.....mass, busses, poor service, poor quality.

This hotel and rooms will surely brings you back to the old feelings in the 80s. No need air conditioning as the wheather is already cold. Water heater is only available on certain times, so do your scheduling properly. Garden is well maintained and many outdooor activities such as pool, basketball court etc. Staff is very attentive and nice. Buffet breakfast is superb with variety but not the dinners. Magnificent view of the nearby hills will take breath away.
