A hotel in need of updating and renovation. First room was dirty, especially under the bed (old slippers, thick dust ... didn’t look further!). Upgraded to 2nd room. Bigger, cleaner but smelled of old socks! Woken in the middle of night by cats having a huge fight in the corridor outside my room. Cat poo on corridor carpet in the morning. Also, music playing through speakers in the corridor all night. Lucky I had earplugs. Decent breakfast buffet and nice welcome drink. Brought my own pillow as I’d read reviews that pillows were thick & solid; they weren’t wrong.

I was here in 2015 as well as on the last new year peak seasons. No such improvements seen on this hotel. If it was not on holiday seasons, better to take a look on another hotel.

At the moments of breakfast, it was really crowded. So many guest with bad arrangements. The taste of food is nothing special (with remains rate)

Very fresh air since Berastagi located at mountain area. So the hotel also have very very nice mountain background view with fog in the morning. Very big swimming pool but a bit chilly, good if they can warm the water since this is highland. Variety of food for the breakfast.

My 11 members of the family booked one family cottage with rooms and one superior room. Spacious, very nice & clean rooms. The only problem was lot of mosquitoes for both rooms during sleep. My 2months old niece & my 3 years old boy have mosquito bite mark for 2days.

The hotel should just be downgraded to a 2 star hotel. It's so bad in every aspect that I didn't know where to start. It's a disappointment. We booked 5 rooms, and out of 5, 4 rooms had issues. 1 room has mouldy smell so bad that from the outside of the room we can already smell. The other 3 have cockroach issues, there is a dead cockroach lying on top of the bed. We inform the receptionist regarding this issue and none of them apologize for this, they only put air freshener in the room. But then, even after housekeeping, the cockroach is still lying on top of the bed. Wasting of my time to go for another complaint if there is no job done. This should not happen in a 4 star hotel. Then, the shower is broken, we need to modify ourselves so that we can shower. They only provide 1 pillow. There are other 3 star hotels that provide 2 pillows without request. One of the bedsheets is torn. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Wifi is not available in the room. Limited connectivity. I paid extra money to change from a 3 star hotel to this hotel, and its not worth it at all. I paid extra for worst service.

The hotel is totally run down. Rusted faucet, uncomfortable bed, everything seems like from the early 90s and never updated. The guy who showed us to our room doesn't seem friendly. However the compound is beautiful, wondering why they didn't want to upgrade the room.

We used the hotel as a base to explore Berastagi and Mount Sibayak. It's a large hotel with spacious rooms and green areas throughout. The breakfast buffet is generous and good, and the staff is friendly. Highly recommended!

Looks nice but and very promising from the outside. I think the exchange rate on 'stars' is about 4 Indonesian to 1 rest of the world, they're very proud of these 'stars' but they could certainly try harder to earn them.

BUT wait there's more.

We booked online because they were the only outfit available to do so. When we arrived they were very busy with two big functions. We arrive at check in time, so thought that our rooms might be ready, we were wrong. After waiting half an hour they showed us to our room, with two king single beds, which my wife was a little miffed about. We went downstairs to request that this be changed, so they 'upgraded' us to a junior suite.

In our Junior Suite we had no drink water, coffee or tea, HOWEVER we were provided with a kettle (very handy), sugar, cups and glasses. We think they actually specificy removed the coffee and tea because we were 'upgraded' as opposed to paying for the maybe a $1 worth of coffee and tea. How cheap do you have to be, this came standard in places that we stayed in for a lot less in elsewhere.

The suite was a smoking room, so unless we had the windows open the stench was awful, especially as there was no airconditioning or a fan. Four stars really? BUT wait there's more.

In lieu of coffee in the room we headed down to the get some, not using our complimentary pre-worn sandals, our options were room service or the restaurant. We chose the restaurant and ordered tea with milk and were charged an extra 10 thousand rupiah for 'milk' which normally means sweetened condensed milk in the bottom of your cup. In this case they mixed some creamer into the pot and ripped us off, especially when there is creamer on the table for free. The view over the pool would have been nice if it wasn't green. The table cloths in the bar were dirty.

Now back to the room for a nice relaxing bath. It's really easy just boil the jug 15 times, see we told you it would come in handy, then relax. At least in the morning the shower was hot, it just isn't at any other time of day.

In summary, bring own water, tea, coffee, milk, 10L bucket (for getting hot water from the front desk if you don't want to boil the jug) or do the smart thing, stay somewhere else.

Berastagi Sibayak International Hotel is a 4-star hotel with a legendary experience for me and sure for you. This hotel is located in berastagi Merdeka streat about 60 Kms from Medan city with about 3.6 hectares area.
Here, we can enjoy a wide range of facilities which’s very attractive and comfortable, such as: Gundaling restaurant with beautiful indor, traditional and modern food presented here, with additional classical music over there. And the swimming pool in this hotel has fresh water with a hot temperature and surely it’s too large. And additional also by relaxing place which make us feel comfortable. The hotel also has a cottage with a private car park. Facilities in this hotel make a pleasantexperience, especially for me and everyone if we stay at this hotel. The comfortable room of this hotel with whirlpool bathtub, wake-up service, etc. And many other facilities at this hotel include: Toba louge, galaxy pub, romeo karoke, comprehensive multi-purpose hall, etc.
The friendly staff of this hotel, big facilities, and it’s near from Berastagi’s destination. It’s the reason why this hotel to be excellent and one of the destinations for tourists and domestic tourist at Berastagi.

My husband and me, as well as my brother and his wife stayed at this hotel for 1 night in July 2012.
It has a lovely landscape. One thing that caught us all by surprise was , the hotel charges us for the rooms based on the USD exchange rate for the day.So you may find yourself paying slightly more compared to the price that is advertised online.
My husband and me tried out the massage at the hotel. It was alright, but we didn’t like how the masseurs kept pestering us to tip them.
The hotel rooms itself is nice, big and comfortable. Breakfast was quite basic. This hotel is located near the fruit market. To be honest, there are not many places to visit around Berastagi .But,if we were to come to Berastagi again, we would not hesitate to stay at this hotel.
The weather in Berastagi is generally chill and cozy . You need a sweater or shawl when walking out, especially in the late evenings.
