Yet another beautiful Amankora Lodge in Bhutan. Unfortunately our stay here was cut short from 3 nights to only one (very brief) night, due to a massive landslide which prevented us from travelling to Bumtang as scheduled. The couple of hours we ended up spending here were however long enough to: taste their excellent food (the chef stayed on for...

Amankora Bumthang is the furthest east of Aman's 5 lodges in Bhutan. You can fly in and out of here to Paro, but we chose just to fly out, so that we could visit the other Amankora lodges along the way. 3 parties chose to charter a helicopter from Gangtey (at very steep, monopoly rates) rather than brave the road;...

This property is right next to the royal palace, which is now a monastery. The rooms are elegant, the staff is very well trained, and the ambience is lovely. On chilly evenings, we enjoyed having drinks in front of the fireplace in the common room. Bumthang is a lovely town nestled in the intersection of four valleys. The Amankora Bumthang...

We stayed at all 5 Amankora lodges during our sojourn in Bhutan. Based on what we had been hearing about the road conditions, we decided to forgo the torturous round-trip ground transfer (to and from Bumthang) in favor of a domestic flight from Paro, then backtrack by car while staying at each of the Aman properties along the way. The...

We arrived to a very warm welcome in a tranquil environment in the country. Our room was amazing and enormous. All amenities perfect. The people are amazing. The laundry service was free of charge. Also, in the dining area there was a large selection of wines and liquor free for the guests. The dinner was wonderful and breakfast choices also...

Spend longer in the country to travel towards the east where this delightful, extremely comfortable and well designed hotel is located. And, worth noting, it shares grounds with a monastery where you get to wander around at your leisure. The hotel's architecture, tall white walls, mirrors the monasterys' ubiquitous style. The local archery range is very close by and it's...

We did a 10-night itinerary with Amankora and were so happy we stayed in Bumthang. We spent 3 nights in Amankora Bumthang. Beautiful grounds and rooms, excellent service, so quiet and peaceful. Guide and driver were super nice and professional. Everything is top notch. Do not miss the farmhouse lunch! **Important tip: Inquire about the 25-minute domestic flight from Paro...

The AmanKora Bhutan experience is wonderful. I have stayed at all 5 lodges across Bhutan and they are all wonderful. My prefered is Gangtey and Bumthang. Food is wonderful and the staff so friendly and kind. If you are looking for the luxury way to see Bhutan then Amankora is the only way.

Amankora staff make a huge effort to ensure that your tour and stay suit your individual needs. They listen to your interests and needs and try to say "yes" to whatever enquiry or request you have. They have bikes for you to use. They accommodate children's interests. It was my first Aman stay but if you can afford it, they...

Combining aman, the Sanskrit-derived word for 'peace', and kora or 'circular pilgrimage' in Dzongkha, the Bhutanese language, Amankora, is a series of lodges in the Kingdom of Bhutan's central and western valleys. The sole surviving Himalayan Buddhist Kingdom, Bhutan is one of the most remote and pristine environments on earth.
