The bed was hard as a rock. And very old. Needs to be replaced. Shower drain backed up. Was charged a second night because I could not leave by 11:00 due to work. Left by 1:00. Looked like a cute place, but could have been much better. I feel very overcharged.

This is a comfortable and clean little motel that is quiet and away from the road. It is standard fare but does allow pets. Coffee and rolls available in the morning at the office area. Friendly people. Nice to take a stroll over to the river which bends its way through the property.

We spent two nights so we could ride the CATS. We booked a cabin that had a loft since we traveled with our teenage grandson. The staff was very friendly. The grounds were clean and well-maintained. The place was busy. Based on the reviews of the rooms, we should have booked one instead of the cabin. Photos of the cabin looked quaint. The cabin was musty, hot, and well-worn. The air-conditioner and fan were over the bed making it difficult to sleep. The loft never cooled. There are other lodging options we'd probably look at when planning our next stay in Chama.

We've been to Chama several times and stayed in a number of places but this is our fave ! Rented a pet friendly cabin and really enjoyed it ! And being right on the 'Rio Chama' there's always a nice place to take a little walk.

Real nice homely place to stay. Just stayed the one night but a real nice room, very friendly staff. Chama is a pretty run down place, we're only here to ride the train, but this was a great place to overnight.

No hot tub despite their website saying there was. And the hot tub was why we chose to stay there. Apparently there has not been a hot tub for two years, so they had plenty of time to edit their website. The bed was also missing a top sheet. No hand soap in the bathroom. The exhaust fan on the stove did not work. This used to be our favorite place to stay in Chama but no longer.

This place was super clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the price was good. Beautiful scenery. It is a little dated building wise but it adds to the charm and home town feel. Such a nice place to stay.

We stayed in Chama 2 nights in order to do the full day train ride. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful! This train ride is not to be missed. Also, Outlaw BBQ serves fantastic brisket. Cabin #40 is where we stayed. The cabins surrounding this one all look to be the same style and age. Our cabin was very worn and in great need of thorough cleaning and TLC. There’s a broken window at the bottom of the entry steps that was taped up. The blinds are covered in grimey dirt and the valance too. The wall heater louvers are filthy, some light bulbs are burned out or missing. The floors are badly worn and creak when walked on. The walls are beat up too. The bathroom tub seems to have had one of those overlay tubs put on top of the old tub. This has made the standing shower space not much taller then my 6 foot husband. I’m 5’4” and barely fit beneath the shower head. Apparently, they have no regard for the do not disturb sign on the outside of your door. My husband went to town to buy us breakfast so our car wasn’t outside the cabin. At 9:30am (check out time is 11am), the housekeeper, without knocking, unlocks the door and opens it. She saw our luggage and quickly closed the door, without even saying a word. I had just gotten out of the shower and had the bathroom door wide open, fortunately you cannot see into the bathroom from the front door. This could have been extremely embarrassing! My husband picked this place based on Trip Advisor reviews, which has rarely ever steered us wrong, but this might be an exception. There is a motel type part of the lodge and maybe those rooms are better cared for then the cabins. Either way, my opinion is there are lots of places to stay in Chama and there has to be some in much better condition then these cabins are.

It was late and looking for a room after 10 days hunting. The owners welcomed us and had a cancellation so it worked out for us to have room! We were grateful and the room was clean and exactly what we needed to recoup after backpacking/ hunting.

This location has the best combination of rustic to modern I have ever seen. So far up in the gorgeous mountains that almost all cell reception is spotty regardless of carrier, wild deer romping in the yard right in front of their office, it was so nice to be away from all the bustle of even rural areas. Stayed for nearly a month and could not have been happier. The location and the tranquil peace that flowed all around culminated in the best sleep I have ever had in my life.
