We had an OK stay at this motel. Staff were friendly, room was spacious (if a little gloomy) and bed was reasonably comfortable. Free wifi was provided but I was disappointed that there was no restaurant (it is for sale/lease) so we had to drive into town for breakfast and out of town for dinner. Charma is a one horse...

The Branding Iron Motel definitely needs to be rebranded. Let me start by saying that the lodging options in Chama are not plentiful. I selected this motel based on ratings and the sign on all of the property photos that said there was a restaurant there. There was not a restaurant, it was empty with a "for lease" sign on...

I would HIGHLY recommend this motel to anyone visiting the Chama area! The rooms were amazingly clean, HUGE and very homey. The managers were very accommodating and made us want to come back. Definately worth 5 STARS

Older property in need of updates, but clean and acceptable. Nothing fancy. Plain and simple. Front desk could've been more personable and polite; seemed overwhelmed. Rooms are way overpriced. If you don't like to climb stairs, book a ground floor room (early). Not a ton of choices in Chama, so they can get away with overcharging. Chama is beautiful.

The front desk clerk was friendly enough. The restaurant on site had closed and no breakfast was offered. The rugs, furnishings and bathrooms were old and could use an upgrade. There was a funny smell when we first entered the room, but after having the window open awhile it abated. The bathrooms and linens were clean though. If we go...

Nothing special but the rooms were clean and everything worked. Decent view of the mountains. Close to the train depot but not close enough to walk. Several restaurants close by but nothing to walk to. Service was good, room was fine for a few nights stay. Place is dated but considering the age and location, I had nothing to complain...

Three of us stayed here in 2009. It was the only place with three large beds in a room. We came back this year to ride the Cumbres and Toltec again. The Branding Iron is a quiet motel with friendly owners and a convenient location. All the linens and towels are very good and the beds are most comfortable.

I loved this motel it was very clean and the people at the check in office were very nice. My kids left some video games in the room and we had already left and the guy at the front desk called me within 30 min and told me. We were eating breakfast down the road so we went and picked...

We held our convention in Chama and the Branding Iron Motel was our host motel. They went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs. Richard and Jane were great hosts. The rooms wereclean, comfortable and more than met our needs. The support staff were friendly, accommodating and made us feel very much at home. We highly recommend...

The rooms were good sized and I appreciated the number of electircal outlets available. I also liked that the vanity was outside of the tub/toilet area. We were here with another couple who was about four doors down, their room setup was the same. Both rooms also had a "dip" in the wood floor right in front of the sink...
