Just returned from a 3 night Thanksgiving stay at one of our favorite lodges! Yes she is a historic older grand dame and not a "new" cookie cutter sterilized chain. She has her creaks and cracks all in the charm of an aging lovely lady, slightly worn but gracious and comfortable to be around! Our room on the first floor... More

While we didn't actually stay here, we were told by many that we needed to see it. The surroundings are nice, but the inside looked very dark and dreary to me. It is historic so we enjoyed seeing the old pictures of the place. We visited the golf club too and it looked very challenging but offered beautiful scenery.

On October 8th 2016 I took a family trip to The Lodge. My wife and I have been wanting to stay there for years. The hotel is very rustic and I feel like we stepped back in time when we walked in. The hotel is full of antiques, and the surrounding area around the hotel is beautiful. The hotel restaurant... More

One of our favorite places for a quiet weekend. Classy old lodge. Well maintained in great setting. Very nice restaurant named for the resident ghost (Rebecca). We haven't experienced any service problems but it is elderly and laid back so you shouldn't be in a hurry.

I had the occasion to stay at The Lodge with friends last week. They had been there many times and were excited to share it with me. The setting is magnificent, and our rooms were very comfortable. That is where the good stops. We were treated indifferently by everyone from the front desk to the bartender, Donna. We had been... More

The Lodge is a very pretty building, and our room was large and bright with 3 windows. However, the pond in front of the lodge was green with algae. The pool tiles needed repair and cleaning. We had read that the restaurant was a must to eat at. However, the restaurant manager was loud and rude when we tried to... More

This old lodge dates back to the turn of the century (1899 to 1900) logging days at 9,000 feet elevation in the mountains, which also resulted in an inn with a golf course (still there). If you prefer glitz to old world charm, stay elsewhere. My wife and I greatly enjoyed our two days there.

We have been visiting the Lodge in Cloudcroft off and on since 1986. We always appreciated its rustic charm. However, our recent visit showed us that, perhaps, it has become too rustic. It badly needs a major update, not just a cost of paint slapped here and there. The carpets appear to be the same as possibly 25 years ago.... More

We had stayed at the lodge several times. Our last stay of two nights was a nightmare. We were put in a room where the air conditioner had been disabled by an electrical storm and was on the the second story right above the smoking area. The choice was to open the window and smoke with the people below or... More

We arrived to a beautiful setting with fireplace going and a bottle of champagne chilling. The Retreat Suites would be a wonderful venue for a group (reunion, destination wedding) We arrived for an Anniversary trip and the room was beyond our expectations. Beautiful 4 poster bed master bedroom, balcony to take in the morning sun for coffee, a whirlpool bath... More
