Columbus is a tired little dusty town on the Mexican border that seems to be defined still by its one great historical moment -- a bloody invasion by Pancho Villa's men in 1916 . It has an excellent small library and a fine little museum with gift shop. Everything closes down early there so don't go expecting any nightlife. Right...

in this excellent hotel I found all I could expect in any hotel in the cities: LARGE rooms, large and comfortable beds, large screen television (in what should be a tv desert) LARGE towels, excellent large bathrooms in each room, large sink outside of the bathroom, microwave, refrigerator and WiFi even, everything you could expect in any other hotel chain,...

4 of us booked on a 2-day minibus tour of the Mexican countryside, leaving at 8am from Palomas, so we stayed in the Hacienda the night before. We had a fab time! The owner checking us in was charming. We had rooms 1 & 2 on the front porch, beside the office. Both rooms were huge, 2 large beds, nice...

A friend of mine reserved a room for me here and I walked in and walked out. The room had a very strong odor of sour air fresheners used again and again. The carpet was old and stale and the bedspreads were also old. The rooms didn't appear fresh and I didn't stay there because I would have had a...

Arrived in Columbus, alone, about 7 p.m. Called number on the office door and owner left her social engagement to rent me a room. Large, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Really enjoyed this place and would recommend it to all travelers. Great rates also.

We limped into Columbus on our bicycles, in the dark, with several punctures - our last stop after 2600 miles over the Great Divide Mountain bike route. We were going to put our tent up and crawl in when we found the Hacienda de Villa - wow! Such a large, extremely clean room, very nicely decorated in a lovely traditional...

I would highly recommend this place. Service was kind and friendly. Room was large and clean. Dish TV with all the channels, micro and fridge. All for $50. Stayed one night while we visited Palomas. Couldn't have asked for more. Excellent !!

This is a wonderful place to stay if you find yourself in the village of Columbus, New Mexico. By calling ahead, Martha, the proprietress, was able to put is in a comfortable room next to the office. The room was nice size with two queen beds, satellite TV, a coffee maker, and most importantly for the desert--good air conditioning. The...

I regularly stay at the Hacienda de Villa when going to the dentist in adjacent Palomas, Chih, Mexico (two miles away with a large parking lot on the border). In some 20-30 visits, I have ALWAYS found it superclean, pleasant and enjoyable. The beds are comfortable, the lighting gentle, the atmosphere friendly. The owner/hostess is accommodating, professional and a personal...

I spent five nights (April 6, 7 & 13, 14, 15, 2009) in the Hacienda de Villa Motel in Columbus, New Mexico. I was on a lengthy motorcycle ride (solo) of the southwest US and stayed in motels each night. Without question the Hacienda de Villa Motel had the cleanest rooms, best and friendliest people of my entire trip, and...
