Visited this local cafe for a lunch, have been there before with friends. The patio has a relaxing, quaint, and quiet atmosphere- service was a little slow and they weren't very busy but- they made up for it with a friendly attentive staff, tasty food, and complimentary chips & salsa. Located just off Mesilla Plaza- go shopping then stop in!... More

We love the restaurant. Beautiful patio. Great place to eat and drink. The food we had was good and priced fair. The atmosphere is good. Actually could hear each other talk. The service was good. We will return. We did not stay there since we live 5 miles from it. Rick and Lolo

I've stayed at Josefina's twice and I love it! The owners are friendly and really know the valley so they can help point out local places to visit. It is charming, quiet and unique to anything in the city.

We wish we had longer to stay in this exquisite, restful building! Early check-in at noon is very convenient, as is the private parking. We were extremely pleased with the large King suite - the chaise lounge was a lovely extra & the bathroom was very large. The private outdoor sitting area was so relaxing and we enjoyed the refrigerator... More

We loved staying in this beautiful historic adobe building. The accomodations were comfortable and authentic. The owners were welcoming, helpful and kind. I would stay here again when visiting my hometown of Las Cruces as I felt I had stepped back in time to my childhood. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such beautiful surroundings.

Even though I live in Las Cruces, I'd never even heard of Josefina's Gate before a couple of years ago. I've been there twice for lunch with friends. It's such a pretty, well-kept adobe place, right off the plaza in Mesilla -- and the food is fresh and well-presented -- and tasty! Service was great -- and they never rushed... More

Thank you for your lovely review. We are a breakfast and lunch cafe. 7 AM- 4 PM seven days a week. We only do one night a year and that is the first Friday in October. We have a jazz festival on the plaza and we open for that event. More

I was so excited when I found this and really looking forward to the possibility of staying here! The Queen suite looks fabulous, very New Mexican and perfect for a 27th wedding anniversary get away! BUT ... I called and sent a message through the website contact system and didn't hear anything back! I realize it was very last minute... More

Please accept our apologies for the confusion. We always respond to our e-mail and we have looked for an "Amy Wlfey" all we have found is someone by the name of Holly asking for information regarding a 27th anniversary booking. We responded to the email and let this person know that we were booked. My husband may have given some... More

On this trip we chose Josefina's Old Gate for our B&B stay in Mesilla. This was an excellent choice as the room was very nice, comfortable, spacious and clean and the access both to the parking area and the restaurant (food was excellent as was service) were very easy. We had stayed in other B&B's in this area before and... More

Given it being the location as a tourist destination, you may think that Mesilla offers a great variety of traditional breakfast. In fact, this is the only place in Mesilla that serves hot breakfast (there are coffee/pastry shops as well). Luckily, its very good as well. Beautiful patio just off the main plaza with shade and the music a little... More

Not sure what I'd call this place. The owner has the restaurant and the 2 rooms next door. As we prefer to stay at quaint inns or Bed and Breakfast places, our options were limited. This really isn't either. The size was good but after paying the owner (the only time we saw her) we got a very quick tour... More

Sorry you were so disappointed....Yes we were concerned with the bride next door...There were 11 attendants and we were not prepaired for that type of traffic in our room or the facility ......especially when we had other guest staying. When the reservation was made the offer of the breakfast was extended, but not required. We are a Historic Inn and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This quaint adobe house known simply as “Josefina’s” has long been a symbol of warmth and welcome on the Historic Old Mesilla Plaza. Josefina’s is aptly named for the dynamic and outgoing woman who lived here for nearly 35 years and established the Luminaria Tradition of Mesilla. Dating back to the early 1900’s this home has served as a place to gather, socialize, and celebrate. This tradition lives on as “Josefina’s” opens its gates to the community and visitors of Mesilla.Once the site of holiday open houses and afternoon get-togethers, we now invite all to relax, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the plaza in an intimate and comfortable setting. Whether you are gathering for a tea party on our patio, a luncheon in our café, celebrating a special anniversary in our Historic Inn, or shopping for that “must have” at Old Gate Antique’s, you are sure to find the warmth of Southern New Mexico charm. ... more   less

“There are only two rooms, I picked the queen because the descriptions made the scale seem more intimate (biggest is not always best). The whole time we were there we never saw, as we called them the "Kings", so we cannot say for sure that ours was the best, but we were very happy with our selection. One or two complaints, since I am always good for a few; the beautiful hatched ceiling was cut up with a HVAC grill above the bed, as an architect I would have walked over 7 alligators before I would have allowed that to happen, and the sitting room has the couch under the TV--okay stage shot --who really lives or functions that way?”
