A very well-laid out resort with super lodges right on the river. The food is excellent. The guides and vehicles are tops. From the lodge you have viewing across the river. While on the veranda between safaris you can spot buffalo, various impala, hippos, birds including the big storks, kingfishers, rollers, etc. Very good value. The drive in is fun...

We stayed at Umkumbe on a twin reserve trip where we had been in the Timbavati before it staying at another lodge which was excellent. If anyone is planning to visit both reserves, please email me. Umkumbe is a lovely lodge in a beautiful location. The rooms are wonderful, as is the food. There was just a couple of small...

We chose this lodge according to what we wanted to spend. Overall it was good value for money. The welcome we got from Mauritz was fantastic as her showed us around, introduced us to our accommodation and explained what times everything would take place. His game drives were excellent as he is knowledgeable about everything. Unfortunately, Umkumbe conservancy is small...

Booked this lodge through Sun Destinations because I was spending 4 days at Africa on Foot ( recommended), but wish I had researched more. I would look into Sabi Sabi if I were returning to that area. Umkumbe was not special for me, & their management is horrible if you happen to be the one person who runs into a...

Our visit to Umkumbe Safari Lodge was one of the most memorable ones I have had in my life! To Celeste and Herman, and their team - we will be back! We were welcomed by Marius and Nadia - warm, friendly and caring. Our Zebra suite was beautiful with outdoor shower and all amenities. Even rhino shaped shortbread parcels on...

We stayed there 3 nights of our 15 days trip and also all places we stayed were very good, this one was in a different class. Rooms were beautiful and modern and at the same time kept their African team. Food was great, staff were very kind and our game ranger was very knowledgeable. We could see elephants, hippos and...

I stayed at this altogether wonderful place for 3 nights. Staff, rangers, accommodation and location were all excellent. The game drives were very informative and relaxed, sometimes they where exciting, especially at a very nice leopard sighting. The only two problems i saw were the quality of the food (sometimes cold and not really good) and the organization of the...

This is a wonderful place to see the amazing animals in South Africa. Umkumbe has 11 "chalets" which are nicely furnished, comfortable. We stayed in Giraffe, which was enormous and had an outdoor shower and double sinks. Meals are served buffet style in an outdoor Boma (eating place) or under a thatched roof and are delicious. Our guide, Nicki, did...
