We recently stayed at Singita Castleton as part of my parents' 50th anniversary celebration. There were nine of us with ages ranging from 10 to 70. Everything was perfect. The grounds are absolutely amazing- right in the middle of the game preserve. It was not unusual to watch elephants, hippos, waterbuck, and impalas while sitting at the pool or eating...

We just got back from a 4 night stay at Singita Castleton and it was truly extraordinary in every way, from the game viewing to the accommodating service to the food to the rooms themselves. In every important respect, Castleton was one of the best stays we've ever had, anywhere. Every member of the staff was constantly looking out for...

Singita Castleton was honestly the most amazing establishment I've ever visited...and not only because I was there with family and friends for our wedding. This was the perfect venue for our small wedding but I can see how it would be equally as spectacular a setting for a bunch of friends, a family reunion, or any small group celebration (including...

An unparalleled experience in the bush! I still dream of the place!! Ask and ye shall receive!! Flying in directly to the lodge air strip also makes a great difference. We were there with a group of friends and had the whole lodge to ourselves...that is the only way you get to stay here. The chef is outstanding, the quality...

Singita Castleton is an unbelievable venue. We celebrated my husband's 50th with close friends. It couldn't have been better. Superb accommodation, delicious meals, staff for whom nothing is too much trouble and game viewing that brings tears to your eyes it is so special. We traveled with 3 kids (boys aged 8-11), all seasoned bush-babies, and they were enthralled by...

I have travelled the world, stayed in Castles, bespoke tented camps and the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, they are all brilliant in their own right but Singita Castleton is a significant step change and cut above - why you may ask? Outside of the world class amenities, food, extensive collectors wine list and obvious privlage to immerse yourself amongst...

Is not a hotel, is not a house, but is the paradise. The ambience, the service , the safaris and even the animals was the best that you can find in this type of travel. You can see not big five but the big seven... The food , the drinks , the surprises in the night or in the morning was absolute delight.

Our family went to Singita Castleton to celebrate a 60th birthday. It was the most perfect weekend imaginable. Yes, we saw the big 5 (all within five km of the camp!) and yes the lodge was beautiful - but what makes this place special is actually difficult to put in to words. The ranger, Claude, was really in a league...

Singita means a place where miracles happen and once you've stayed at Castleton you will know why. This was our first "camp" and let me say it was our favorite! Upon our arrival we were literally welcomed into the singita family. And when you leave, you will forever be grateful for your experience at Castleton. We saw so many animals,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Formerly the family home of Singita founder Luke Bailes’ grandfather, Singita Castleton is an exclusive use lodge. Set within 45,000 acres of private reserve, Singita Castleton consists of a main house with communal living spaces, and accommodation located in six individual cottages within the grounds, catering for up to 12 people. It is steeped in history, capturing the spirit of the original Castleton house, giving the lodge a historical and comforting nature. Singita Castleton has been designed to combine the best elements of a private safari lodge with the rustic charms of a country farmhouse, with the added benefit of extensive high-end facilities, including a vast garden, swimming pool, wine cellar, gym, tennis court and spa treatment room. Guests can relax together in the courtyard, gather around the traditional ‘boma’ or meet in the country-style kitchen, yet the individual cottages allow guests to retreat to the privacy of their own space as and when it’s needed. All of this is overlooking a waterhole where animals regularly gather to drink. ... more   less
