The lodge, the staff, the food and wine and the animals were all superb. Especially the animals. The Rangers worked very hard (especially ours, Dylan) and all had great knowledge and passion which they shared with us.
They managed to find the animals regularly and...More
We have just returned from a 4 night safari at Tau Game Lodge in Madikwe. Having been to Kruger national park before (and having loved it) I can firmly say that Madkiwe was far superior. The guides were more informative, the animals more plentiful and...More
I spent three nights here on a recent visit to South Africa and was impressed with the accommodations, service, guides - indeed the whole experience. This was my first safari in South Africa but not on the African continent, having been to multiple locations in...More

We were in the same situation and decided to stay at Matla. Best decision ever. Staff is fabulous, rooms are so much better than at Tau and you still have a small water hole in front of the main building to watch animals. The staff is from Tau so very experienced and wonderful. The game drivers are awesome. I am trying to find a way to go back.

Good day, at the moment it is not that cold yet, so a jacket will be enough it is only in May - July that you would need warmer clothes. We also provide blankets on the landrovers should you still need some extra warmth. Both routes can be taken, personally I prefer the N4 to Rustenburg more, but it also depends which side on Johannesburg you would be traveling from. We wish you an amazing stay!
