Visited Madikwe River Lodge for lunch....for R230 pp we got a sub standard very old fashioned meal, roast beef, rice, ribs, vegetable quiche and salad....dessert was tiflle and a bad one at that. The decor is old and outdated, even the Christmas tree that had put up was moth eaten and embarassing to say the least......not what I expect from...

The River Lodge is very good, the chalets clean and well appointed with all you can need. The food is good and in lovely surroundings. The staff friendly and helpful. However the game reserve is a second rate reserve. The few animals are seen repeatedly, rather like a zoo. The Madikwe website states that there is a large population of...

We visited the Madikwe River Lodge with our three boys and found it to be quite a good experience with young kids. Madikwe is a beautiful game reserve with lots of sightings and various environments (river, hills, plains, forest etc). There is enough variety to sustain a two to three nights stay (4 to 6 game drives). The ranger we...

What an amazing stay. We had a 5 star stay from a 3 star lodge. The staff were friendly and fantastic, the game drives amazing and managed to see all big 5 in 2 drives. Wild dogs and Cheetah spotted. The rooms are very comfortable and all have a view of the river. The meals were very tasty and traditional,...

We've been traveling on the road for a few months now as part of the Trek South Africa team and we arrived at this place to feel truly welcome and at home. The accommodation isn't incredibly fancy, all with a sort of rustic feel and great views of the river - however this is not what draws a person to...

Lodge besides the river with very good food and services, not only at the premises but at the safaris also. Cozy cottages and great great safari guide (Takura, also known as Charles). You will find the big 5 by sure.

The lodge is situated in the bush - antelopes walk within the fences, elephants and lions can be seen from the terraces. Excellent game drives, we got very close to very many animals. The driver created a welcoming atmosphere that also the kids enjoyed very much. Perfect as a first stop on a safari holiday, as everything is well organized...

The lodge was perfect for our family. We booked a family room but after one night the boys moved into room 17 and the girls stayed in room 16. Room 17 had amazing views of the river and we saw lots of animals from our deck. The safaris were truly amazing. We saw a great range of animals.
