Learn about off the grid living and take a tour at the visitors center. You won't think about a home the same way ever again...Does your house encounter the elements of nature and put them to work for you? Harvest rainwater, use passive solar gain to heat your home, generate electricity with sun/wind power, treat your own sewage, grow your...

Let's just say we were always curious of those houses that look like part of a commune out in the desert! LOL. But hey, we learned so much on this tour it made us want to go out and get one! The sustainability all in one house was just so amazing! Who doesn't want to live without having to pay...

Our Europe Earthship looked like a house from the SyFy movie or eccentric billionaire house. It was warm, funny, mind challenging with artistic place you wanna own. Garden with bananas and vegetables was unreal, considering 19F outside. Everything worked so well for us and our kids. Nearby grocery store, hot springs by the Rio Grande river, local brewery made this...

Wish there'd be a way to get out via public Transit- even if a shuttle 2X a week or so from Taos, and other nearby spots. Makes particular good sense given the focus on sustainable practices. Was glad we were able to hitch a ride with newly made friends, and am in awe of the work underway.

A stay in an Earthship is life changing. Both incredibly educational, and (especially in some of the more elaborate ones like the Phoenix) a sensory delight. Awesome for adults, but especially powerful for kids, who will now understand exactly how much they consume and pollute, and how much more waste there is in ordinary houses. Don't just stop by the...

Go here for a truly unique and unforgettable experience!!!!! I have stayed at the Phoenix East twice and it is just unbelievable! It is like sleeping I your own private Garden of Eden. It is a painful process to leave this sanctuary for the mind and soul And return to the hustle of the real world. You will feel utterly...

We passed the Earthship community on a visit to Taos, stopped, took a few pics and travelled on. Later we read an article in a local NM paper discussing the settlement and cost of an overnight stay. We made a phone call, organized an overnight stay and drove through an incredible storm to arrive at our Earthship for the night....

I stayed in the pet friendly "Euro". A 3 bedroom 2 bath deluxe home that has a utopian Mad Max/Flintstone ambience. I received a great tour/education from staff member, Ryan and there are a number of videos in the spacious living room area to view, that give detailed explanations of the Biosphere Community and its founder, Mike Reynolds. Reynold's video...

The concept is wonderful and the execution outstanding. This is a self sustaining community that has converted trash into eco-friendly homes. An inspiration to us all ! I din not stay over night I merely visited. But I think any one visiting Taos should visit here.

Located near rio grande bridge near taos. Collection of several bio friendly homes that are off the grid. They charge admission to get into the show home and you can walk around the other homes. Interesting. Different. Cutting edge. Would imagine would take a lot of courage and passion to establish. They are totally off the grid. Was worth seeing.
