Some establishments can go and learn some hospitality ethics from The Highlander staff. On our arrival we were greeted like we were "regulars". The room I booked was the one I got. Not like other (booking.com )bookings that you end up not getting close to what you've booked. Thus ending up in a negative review. Since we had a big... More

One of the the best restaurants in the village. Staff are fantastic. Highly recommended for a short stay away from Gauteng. Rooms at a good size as well. A two hour drive from JHB. Heated pool - awesome bar - did I mention the staff are fantastic

This was the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. Full of flies and insects in the ceiling and when we tell the porter he just tells us to use the insect spray in the room. If we had come to stay here 40 years ago, it would probably have been nice, but nothing seems to have been done to furniture,... More

Many years ago these rooms would have been really grand , but now are in need of serious attention . Carpets filthy, shower sprouted from all over, lights in toilet didn't work and Duvet was like a thin cheap towel . Saving our stay were the very friendly and attentive staff and a really good dinner .

Stayed here during our vacation in South Africa on our drive back from Krueger Park. Our travel agency had a problem with the booking, but the really friendly staff there went out of their way to make everything go smooth. We really enjoyed our stay and liked the little town. Breakfast was also really nice and rooms were nice for... More

We did not stay here but dined at the restaurant. Our food was ready within a good time frame and our waiter (Simon?) was friendly and quick to sort out some questions we had with regards to the menu, with the kitchen. The menu is limited but the food was delicious. My husband has the carpaccio for starters and I... More

Having popped in to just have a drink, the log fire and elegantly set dining room demanded we stay for dinner. The limited menu of fillet, trout and pasta fitted with Dullstroom. The fillet was ok but nothing you couldn't get in a steak house in Joburg. The mushroom sauce was cold. The trout fillets were tasteless but this might... More

Our management team and their spouses descended upon the Highlander this past weekend, for our bi-annual breakaway. Sumanth Maharaj and the team welcomed us with open arms. The service from the Highlander team was outstanding, professional, but warm and friendly. The accommodation was lovely and the location to town was very convenient. We had a ball!
