What wonderful and amazing people working there. Everyone is so friendly and more than willing to help with anything they can. They know where you staying and what you have booked to do by the time you have arrived. The place is peaceful and spacious. What an amazing way to spend a relaxing weekend.

Michael thank you for taking the time to write this review, it is greatly appreciated. We are proud of our "Forest creek family" our staff are loyal and have been with us for many years, with the exception of a couple of needed new bees. Keep well and we hope to see you both soon All the best Anita

Not good value for money. Facilities and activities lacking - no clay pigeon shooting and trout fishing as advertised. Access road is in a very bad state, even for a 4x4 vehicle. Staff friendly. Hike to waterfall worthwhile. Will not recommend this lodge to friends and family.

HJ thank you for taking the time to write this review. To clarify we do not advertise Trout fishing on our web site currently, as we are waiting for a permit, due to new Government regulations regarding the fishing zones, there is Trout trout fishing in the area, which we can offer temporarily, until we sort out our new permit....

If good coffee and wi-fi/cellular reception is not important to you, this place would suit you. It has good scenery and nice food, small private units in the bush create a sense of being close to nature. I would definitely not classify it as a luxury breakaway. The pricing is not in line with what is offered. The road up...

Andrew thank you for taking the time to write the review on us, all input is always appreciated, it helps us realise your perception as a guest. I agree the end of the hiking trail is a challenging, there are various routes one can take depending on the degree of hike you would like to do in the Cloud Forest....

This is our second visit to the lodge. Our first visit was as a couple in 2013 and this one, as a family. We value our privacy and the luxury of being in nature, so we opted for the Forest Cottage (self catering). The cottage is situated +-500m away from the lodge, so it ticked the box of our most...

Hi thank you for taking the time to write this review, and I am glad your teens enjoyed the family break and the Nature. T hanks for the notes on the Forest Spa, we actually changed it today, there are now 2 Spa beds and 2 therapists, coincidence. Maybe next time book the Sunbird self catering unit for the family,...

We went to this lodge for a long weekend for some rest and relaxation. Started off the weekend by getting 4x4'd up the mountain to the lodge (our car was too low to make it up the mountain). We were enthusiastically greeted by the staff upon arrival. We stayed in the Bee-eater suite. Beautifully made up suite with lovely personal...

The most stunning feature of this lodge is its location on the Drakensberg escarpment amongst afro-montane forest, it really is absolutely breathtaking & the view from the main lodge is something else. The accommodation has been tastefully designed to blend into the surroundings & the bird song is constant & beautiful throughout the day. We stayed in Cinnamon suite, which...

We were looking for somewhere really special to stay with our kids on their 1st night ever in Africa. We found the perfect place at Forest Creek. Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff and the most picturesque African setting for a brilliant stay. One of the highlights for the kids was def a trip on the back of the bakkie on the...

The roads are a bit tricky when you don't have a 4x4, but once you get to the lodge, it is so worth it. (We came in a Polo - I would not recommend it, especially when it rains.) The staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful. We stayed in the Narina Trogan room which was so beautiful. You are...

It is a beautiful lodge in the nature, far from the roads, where we spent only 1 night. Beautiful landscapes, nice atmosphere, nice food, very nice and confortable room. The only concern is the access by car. Please check before if your car is OK for this kind of road!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Forest Creek nestles in a gorge of the Steenkampsburg Mountains, which is the end of the Drakensberg Mountain range. Set in a Private Nature reserve of the Mpumalanga escarpment. The gorge is softened only by a blanket of shrubs and trees which have grown in this malaria-free zone over millennia. It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the rock-strewn grassland is left behind, one climbs up, and up, and enter this little enchanted world. This winter come and enjoy some good food and wine snuggled in front of our log Fireplaces, and go home feeling indulged On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from Luxury guest suites at the main lodge* to the Forest Cottage, Bee Eater, The Beach Cottage & Sunbird self catering options. During the cooler months, come and enjoy the Big Fireplace in the Lodge Lounge. There are hiking trails along the stream under the canopy of trees. Treat yourself to an hour or two of relaxation in our Forest Spa ... more   less
