Lovely house, beautiful lounge which was nice and warm in the evening. Nice room, but....: the bed was a little slack & the room was cold. I don't get these electrified metal plates that South Africans screw to the wall & think they warm anything other than the bricks behind them. Lovely huge bathroom, but no proper shower? Nice people...

We stayed over for 2 nights and what a pleasant surprise!!! Breakfast was great, served with home made marmalade and muesli, very nice! The host, Pierre, is wonderful, such a nice man. We went to church one night whilst visiting and met his wife, she sat behind me in church, also, lovely lady! The rooms are very clean and fresh...

The guesthouse is clean and tidy, the best area is the pool and the rose garden. The host is really funny and definitely a fan of Nigella! The rooms are somewhat antique and could do a little refurbishment. Breakfast is really nice with homemade jams and muesli, fruits etc

We stayed one night. Room was fine but electrics really need some work. The bathroom light switch is at the door with room light. Socket for kettle is too far away and kettle can only be used on floor. Hairdryer could only be used after pulling out bedside table. Pierre was businesslike rather than hospitable and did not take kindly...

Beautifully refurbished old building with a very pleasant location, pool and large garden. Our room and bathroom was fairly basic but very clean and nicely furnished. The internal walls are rather thin. The owner is lacking in social skills, is almost unpleasant and has lots of rules.

A very nice Klein Karoo stop-over. We stayed 2 nights as we don't like moving each night--but one would have been enough. The pool, rose garden and wine trellis were lovely, and the walk into town a nice way to 'feel ' the vicinity. We got booked for a standard room which was a bit too rustic for me--no AC...

Chose this as a one night stop on Route 62 on the way from Plettenberg Bay to Cape Town. Rooms are quirky but clean and comfortable, the garden, terrace and pool are beautifully kept, and breakfast was superb. Calitzdorp is a interesting little town, the centre of SA's port industry, and its wineries are well worth a visit. We walked...

“All the rooms are good, ours had a shower but no bath. Others have bath but no shower, according to reviews. We also needed a bedside lamp. There was a fan. We should imagine that roof rooms would be very hot in summer.”
