Sanctuary Stanley's was our only tented property of our Africa trip so it is hard to compare but this style isnt for me. Although it is a permanent tent with a flushing toilet, I was semi-scared at night that an elephant could come and crumple us and I thought the rooms/tents were small for a property of this distinction. However,...

Dear Hannah, Thank you for choosing to stay at Sanctuary Stanley's Camp, and for taking the time to leave us a review - it is much appreciated! While we are disappointed that we only received three stars, we appreciate that this style of safari does not suit everyone and fully accept your reasoning behind the rating. We would like to...

My daughter and I traveled to Stanley's Camp at the end of a wonderful few weeks in Africa. I didn't know what to expect but after all the wonderful experiences we had encountered, we should have known that the end would rival the beginning and middle. This was a lovely camp with all your amenities provided in the tents. The...

This is a simple tent camp that has everything you need. The staff was wonderful as was the food. The guides were incredible. I learned to track by watching footprints and animal scat. To hear the sounds of animals right next to your tent as you feel asleep, then to find giant elephant turds next to your front door in...

Stanley's is a lovely, friendly camp with great staff (and guides) and great food. But the Elephants Experience overshadows everything as it was the most amazing day in my not-short life. If you love eles, you MUST do this!

When we arrived at Stanley Airstrip our friendly guide Ally picked us up and served a welcome champagne. Stanley’s camp is nice, rather small, intimate, and quiet, the infrastructure is quite OK. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our guide was great and so were the sightings during our two-days stay, amongst which white rhinos, our first wild dogs,...

We were there 2 days and was our first time in a safari and next to such animals. It's true that the amount of animals is not the same as in the Chobe river but enjoys the same variety and the two days that we were there we saw the same animals as in Chobe. The staff is fantastic and...

What a great experience! Sure it's is a "tent" but it has a fully functional bathroom, lights and a fan. Loved being out in the middle of wild Africa. A trio of wart hogs live under the main lodge so you have to watch out for them. Food was great, lodge staff very attentive and our guide, Ice and tracker...

Arriving at camp to a beautiful chorus of African song performed by the staff, to the luxury of clamping in the Botswana bush. The staff, the service and the food were brilliant along with the excellent tracking and driving skills of TT made it exceptional time. Enjoy nature at its best and the Mokoro ride on the delta provides a...

I've given it 3 stars because I believe it was actually very well set up and run, just personally I didn't enjoy it. Partly this is because I really don't like spiders, and partly because we had just come from another safari lodge which was possibly the best place I have ever stayed, so this one was always going to...

Dear Kate, Thank you for your kind comments regarding our food, staff and amenities - the team are delighted that you appreciated their efforts. The camp is built near a fluid plain, causing the rooms to be a bit more humid during warmer months. Rooms contain both a standing and ceiling fan, however, still it might be a bit more...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sanctuary Stanley's is a classic tented camp with just eight tents built under an imposing African Ebony tree on a private concession overlooking the Okavango floodplains. Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built on a 260,000 acre private concession in the renowned Okavango Delta. This traditional safari camp has a large lounge area and dining area with incredible views over the floodplains in front of camp. The main area features a bar from where refreshing drinks are always served with a smile, a small library area and curio shop. From the swimming pool - a real treat after a hot day of game viewing - guests can watch giraffe and other plains game march across the savannah and sometimes catch a glimpse of rare wild dogs. Everything about Sanctuary Stanley's Camp is built to the highest ecological standards so that we don't damage this highly sensitive area. The intimate camp features only eight safari canvas tents, each individually designed, furnished with African antiques that exude a classic and understated elegance that harks back to the explorers and colonialists of the 19th century. Each tent has a large wooden deck providing private areas where you can relax in a hammock while soaking in the surrounding sights and sounds or enjoy cocktails, before dinner is served in the spectacular dining mess. ... more   less
