Travellers' Choice
Set in the heart of Shakespeare country only four miles from Stratford upon Avon the Blue Boar Inn represents the best of an old English country pub, the oldest parts of the building date back to the early 1600s. Stay in comfortable en suite bedrooms, some which still retain impressive original features, such as wooden beams and stone walls. Including a range of three, four and five bed family rooms. Food is available from lunchtimes 12.00 noon- 2,30pm and dinner 6.00pm- 9.00pm options include an à la carte restaurant menu and a homemade pub food menus complimented by a range of ales and wines.According to church records, William Shakespeare was married in Temple Grafton church in the year 1582 to one Ann Whateley. The name is thought to be a misspelling of Hathaway.Records show that there has been an alehouse at the inn since that time, also a glass-covered well in the restaurant bar is some 35 feet deep and its pure water was once used in the brewing process. today, the well is the home of a family of gold fish. From this comfortable and convenient relaxing base, you can explore Stratford Warwick, the Vale of Evesham, Cotswolds Slightly further afield, The Malvern Hills, and Birmingham and NEC is within about 30 minutes' drive by car. Here at the Blue Boar we are here to cater for your every need and can arrange hire cars, taxis and packed lunches to compliment your touring of our wonderful local attractions.

The Dinner on two nights was very good. However, there was no breakfast menu and you had the impression it was "Full English" or "Full English" although if you asked there was some choice. Our room, which we were told had recently been refurbished, had many strange features. For instance there was no information about the facilities in the room. Even more alarming there were no fire emergency instructions in the room, which is surely against the regulations. Also no information how to contact staff in an emergency in the night. Also, although a faily large room there were no facilities such as a chest of drawers or wardrobe for clothing, other than 3 hangers in an alcove meaning we lived out of our suitcases. Very strangely, when switching on the bathroom light, every time it gave out a loud double chime, a bit like a door bell! The staff, however, were very friendly and efficient.

Disgruntled holiday maker 1st night meal was good. Waiter very friendly and helpful. Fire alarm went off twice later that night. No fire procedure. Got told someone was smoking in the room. No room count on evacuation. 2nd time it went off we were left standing outside nobody came to tell us it was ok to go back in. I am talking early hours. Still no room count. Heard the person who came say he would just turn the alarm off. Then he never re appeared. Really didn’t feel happy about that. No breakfast menu. Had to ask for a cup of tea. If you asked they said they had cornflakes. No fruit juice. Just felt they didn’t want people in for breakfast as if it was too much effort. It would be nice to see what was available without having to ask. Nobody present this morning on check out so couldn’t voice our opinion. Room was clean but very tired. Plumbing was very poor. The noise when we could flush the toilet would of woken people up if we flushed during the night. Found the fire door open 2 mornings. Worn carpet on the stairs which could be dangerous. Kettle did not switch itself off. I know the building is old but it really need some TLC. Would not stay again. This was our 1st break away in over 2 years so very disappointed. This is a true account of our stay dated October 21

The inn was wonderful, staff was friendly and welcoming, location was charming. The food was outstanding. Rooms were clean, our only criticism would be, the mattress, maybe an upgrade? We would stay again.

Stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting Stratford upon Avon. Location to Stratford is excellent, only a 10 minute drive away. Check in was easy and efficient, staff even carried our case up to the room. Room was freshly decorated, good size, comfortable bed with quality linen. Bathroom was all new with a good shower. Restaurant served a very good selection of dishes, Sunday Roast was good but sadly the service on the Sunday let it down a bit. Breakfast was reasonably but again the service does need to sharpen up a bit and perhaps have menus whereby guests can choose what they want without having to ask what they have. Service and meal on Monday night were both excellent. Big question, would we stay here again - yes without doubt.
