Perry, his family and the whole staff at The Railroad Inn made our stay comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable. With an industrial theme and decor, they provide guests clean accommodations with a complimentary snack bar in a great location. If you are going to Cooperstown NY, this is the place to stay!!

I stayed here by myself when coming to town for a few days during the week. I wanted a place that was affordable and walking distance to Main Street.
The place offers plenty of parking, so you can easily leave the car alone and walk to sites like the Baseball Hall of Fame.
I booked a room with a king bed and it was pleasant. The room was clean, the shower was amazing (hot water immediately along with good pressure), and the complementary items always available in the lobby (bottled water, drinks, and snacks) make this a great destination if you don’t want to spend for some of the pricier places in town and still enjoy a clean and comfortable stay.
The room had a fridge, so it make it convenient to stock up on waters from the lobby rather than get drinks somewhere else (which isn’t as easy as it sounds around here). There was also a chair and long ottoman, which is always nice where there is a place to sit other than on the bed.
It wasn’t warm the entire stay, but the air conditioning did work without any issues.
The bed was very comfortable (a firm mattress), as were the pillows.
It was a good thing I packed my own toiletries for the shower - it provides shampoo and conditioner, but not a second soap in the bathroom or shower gel.
The walls weren’t as thin as I was worried when reading reviews before coming. I was in a room on the second floor at the end of the hall. The stairs were immediately next to my room. I could hear some noise at times, but this was more in the morning than at night; nothing loud enough that kept me up or woke me up.
I would definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed here 4 nights with my kids. I would recommend the Railroad Inn to anyone traveling to Cooperstown! I spend over 100 nights out a year for business while staying in Hilton’s & Marriotts and this was the nicest place I’ve stayed all year! The rooms are extremely clean, beds are very comfortable and the staff couldn’t be anymore friendly!

This hotel is a MUST stay!! The hosts Perry and Cathy have created a home away from home feel. The rooms are spotless and spacious the bed is so comfy and when your head hits the pillow your dreams begin. There is a wonderful selection of breakfast treats in the lobby and the coffee is delicious. You will not be disappointed.

The Railroad inn is a charming hotel in a historic building very close to the heart of Cooperstown. Our king room on the first floor was spacious, clean, quiet, and well-appointed. I think we were upgraded to a larger room because the hotel was almost empty on a Thursday night in mid- November. Breakfast was pretty basic, but nice. We recommend and would stay again.

The place is nicely renovated and appears modern and sleek. The bed was comfortable, and the room was reasonable in size. We paid for a "standard" room, and unfortunately, it had all the HVAC stuff immediately above it. At times it gave a true feel of being on the railroad. It was very loud. The breakfast had plenty of items but it was not welcoming in that it was not served or presented, You pretty much go into the cabinet. For $300 plus a night, a bit more was expected. Most annoying they charge you to use a credit card, in my instance over 3% of the bill. This was never mentioned nor is it on their site.

The Railroad Inn is a nice enough place. The rooms are spacious, and the beds are comfortable. But we had a bit of a unique experience. We went in January. It was very cold, and there weren't many people staying there. There was very little for the front desk to do. But one staffer in particular seemed preoccupied with her computer and not eager to help (the other person, in the mornings, was quite nice).
Our room was cold, and the bathroom was absolutely freezing. The bathroom floor was ridiculous. There is a temperature control in the room that didn't seem to work very well. The Wifi didn't work either. Neither are a huge deal, but when I told the woman at the desk, she shrugged. The heater should kick in eventually, and the wifi goes out sometimes, was her response. When I pressed, she offered to call the cable company.
So I slept in sweatpants, a sweatshirt and socks. My wife wore thermal underwear. Maybe we should have demanded a different room, but the thought of getting out from under the covers made us pause. It was freezing. I mentioned this in the morning to another staffer, who told me the manager had been in room the day before and the temperature seemed fine. Guess it was our fault.
I wanted to send a note to the management complaining about our stay, but the website is down too.
Maybe you'll have better luck. But you might bring slippers and long underwear just in case.

Me and my wife stayed at the Railroad in two days ago for one night. The positives are it is walking distance to down town, rooms are clean and spacious, there is a great outside area with chairs, gas grill, a stream, patio. A very nice touch in the common area is the free snacks, drinks, coffee, some breakfast items all included. Also the staff was very nice when we arrived. On the down side, the bed was very hard, my hip is still sore. It is very loud when other people are walking around the hallway. It was a little chilli and our heater did not work or maybe we just couldn't figure it out. For this time of year I think $ 350.00 is too much money, a fair price would be about $ 200.00. Icing on the cake was at 8:00 in the morning our door abruptly opened, no knocking no nothing, luckily we had the slide lock on or this could have been very uncomfortable for all!

SKUNKS! This hotel has a family of skunks living under the building! The intense odor permeated the room and the hallways. The staff shrugged it off, never offering an alternate room. One staff member advised ownership was aware. The location is great but the owners are apparently immune to the stench because their response when I requested a discount was “not my problem!”. Please do not ruin your trip by staying here!

Hello Peg, We are sorry your stay was less than satisfactory, because we strive to give the best possible experience to every guest. Unfortunately, you booked your stay, through Expedia and paid through them. This is why we are unable to refund as the refund would go to Expedia and not you. Please call us at your earliest convenience, so we can further discuss how to rectify the situation. Thank you, Megan

Recently stayed at this lovely inn conveniently located a short walking distance from town and the Baseball Hall of Fame. The front desk was very friendly and there is a 24 hour snack/breakfast area. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had a suite which was very roomy. Rooms are reasonably priced and there is an abundance of towels, linens, etc. There is a very nice front porch to sit on during warmer weather and a fire pit for the colder weather. Will definitely be staying there again when next in the area.
