Our recent stay at the historic Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown, New York, was excellent! With its meticulously manicured lawns and maintained landscaping, the Otesaga reflects the beauty, grace, and grandeur of its natural setting. Its location on the southern shore of Otsego Lake is ideal, with breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding hills. It's a short walk to Main Street and the Baseball Hall of Fame, and only a few minutes' drive to the excellent Fenimore Art Museum and informative Farmers' Museum.

Our room was well appointed and reflected the historical significance of this town, which was founded by the father of author James Fenimore Cooper. The fine quality bedding and towels helped make our stay comfortable and special. And the lake view from our windows—outstanding!

The food and wine at the hotel's fine dining restaurant 1909 was very good, the server Karla was friendly and attentive, and the manager Brian was excellent! One pleasant evening we dined on the 1909 outdoor veranda with a perfect view of the sunset over the lake.

The hotel's staff were always friendly and helpful, especially Matias manning the reception desk. I really appreciated his above-and-beyond effort to find us the perfect room with a lake view. I'm not surprised that he was just named Employee of the Month! Congratulations, Matias!

Cooperstown is one of the best destinations in New York State for viewing the fall foliage, especially during peak color. I can strongly recommend the Otesaga Resort Hotel as an outstanding hotel at a beautiful upstate New York destination.

This place is pretty close to perfection. From the moment you arrive you're transported to a simpler time and can not help but relax and unwind. From the stunning views to the super cool wine window and fire bar to the refreshing lake swimming and beautiful golf course everything is exquisite. The very best of it all being the veranda!

Housekeeping was on point and the supervisor in our hallway was very astute and when she saw us leave in the morning had the room fixed up by the time we returned from breakfast.

The only miss was in the Hawkeye Grill; the hostess did not apologize for giving away the table we had reserved/requested and our waitress that evening made one mistake after the next. We also had a server only one of the days at breakfast in the Glimmerglass who was unfriendly and made a point of telling us she needs to get her gratuity in the mornings.

We would love to come back and recommend this hotel highly for anyone looking to take a step away from it all! Easy walking distance to everything in town as well.

This is the third time we have stayed at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown and my first review. The setting is spectacular and all areas are immaculate. Most of all the veranda overlooking the 18th hole of Leather Stocking gold course and the Otsego Lake were beyond your wildest dreams beautiful. The staff is always smiling and very pleasant. Ate both at the Hawkeye and 1909 restaurant, which were very good. Okan and Erika are servers there and could not be any more attentive to our needs. Housekeeping was also very pleasant always saying good morning or afternoon. We met Sunny one of the operation managers who chatted with us about the makeup of the hotel. A flyer was given to us every day for the following day of things to do such as hotel tours, tours of Cooperstown, wine and beer tastings and bingo. There is a small shop called the Market in the foyer which serves coffee, pastries and many other gift shop offers. Sitting on the veranda in white high back rocking chairs we met several people from all over the country. One couple from Buffalo Jim and Sue were so nice sharing what to do and how their day went. The pool is heated and is like bath water and it is a salt water. Their employees are made up of many students from all over the world and were more than willing to share stories of their life there.

One suggestion is that I would love to have someone play the piano every night from 8-9.. I was told that they only have music in the lobby for special occasions but it would add to the ellegance of this amazing hotel.

Save yourself a huge amount of cash by booking somewhere else. The Otesaga used to be a great experience but it's pretty awful now. There is ONE restaurant and bar open and that's for the whole hotel and functions. You wait forever for a drink that you have to go to the bar to get yourself. There are empty cocktail glasses everywhere around the hotel...on the veranda, on the ground, on windowsills. When you pick up a plate to get your breakfast one out of two are dirty. The glasses on the table are gross. There is no food at the golf course so be sure to bring your own. There are no bellman working so you have to bring your luggage in and out yourself. We saw people bringing a cart on the front porch to pack their car and the giant brass cart flew down the steps and crashed into their car making a big dent. The shower curtain liner in our room hadn't been changed in months, it was all orange at the bottom. Previously they offered nice toiletries now you get a tiny bar of soap that would embarrass the Holiday Inn. They have serious nerve charging the insane prices they charge. Save yourself time and a headache by going elsewhere.

This was our third stay at the Otesaga Resort Hotel, and I can't say enough about this amazing destination. For the last two years, my husband and I have visited for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the moment we enter until the minute we leave; we are treated like royalty. The front desk staff greeted us warmly. The concierge, Dawn reviewed our plans for the weekend to be sure everything was correct. Our room is always well appointed, clean and very comfortable. No need to drag soap, shampoos, hair dryers, etc. as they are all provided. There are also very comfortable bathrobes provided. We enjoyed dinner at Hawkeye's Grill one of the nights we were in town. Our server Dean was very friendly and very good at his job. He made excellent recommendations as well as accommodating a request that we made. The food is delicious with ample portions that are not too big. Dan, the bartender at the Hawkeye, is also very friendly and made delicious drinks. He handled the bar well and never left any customer waiting too long during a busy evening. As a treat, my husband and I visited the Hawkeye Spa for massages. The spa is clean and provides a very calming environment. The clinicians we worked with, Rachel and Alex, customized our services for our individual needs. We both left feeling amazing. Our stay included breakfast each day. Glimmerglass offers standard breakfast fare either ala carte or from the buffet. Just like dinner, the food is delicious. Service is conscientious and efficient. As you leave, you are offered coffee or tea to go. Overall, our stay at the Otesaga was fabulous. We have already booked our trip for next year.!

No cheap, but it’s a fine old “grand” hotel that’s been kept in tiptop shape.by owners/managers. Best time to visit is September or October when summer crowds in Cooperstown have dissipated and surrounding countryside is brilliant in autumn foliage.

Room service was TERRIBLE. In room dining service was literally nonexistent. I called room service three times & got no answer. No one picked up. Called front desk twice & asked to be connected to room service. Still no answer at room service extension. Left message on Room Service extension voice mail to call me back. No call back. Outrageous for a hotel to charge $500 a night & not provide room service.

My wife and I went back to the Otesaga again for our yearly visit…this was our longest at 5 full days!
Thankfully nothing was changed. The new GM Marty Rosenthal has done an admirable job by maintaining the all star status of this lovely resort…wonderful employees, smiling faces, warm greetings, kind consideration throughout our stay.
The room, as usual in our past 10 visits, was warm and inviting, spotlessly clean, with many windows affording those calming vistas of Otsego lake, the golf course, and the impeccably maintained grounds of the Otesaga itself.
Breakfast, ah yes, breakfast!…everything you could possibly want, abundant and delicious, attendant with competent service always accompanied by delightful morning smiles and greetings…what a way to start another relaxing day in Cooperstown at the Otesaga. Lunch and/or dinner at the Hawkeye grill is another big plus.
Good health promising, we’ll definitely be back for our 11th visit next year!
At the late summer/early fall the Otesaga is a very peaceful, calming, restful hotel and my wife and I highly recommend this jewel.

We were greeted upon our arrival by Ibrahim. He could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We crossed paths with him throughout our stay and he was always positive and looking for ways to make our stay better.
Servers in the Hawkeye Grill were lovely and we found the service and food there to be quite good. For the high expense of our room we were surprised on Sunday morning to find a long line of people waiting for a table at breakfast. The wait was in excess of 45 minutes. There were no other options for breakfast given the lack of healthy options at the take out market. Music on both Friday and Saturday nights can be heard throughout the hotel so be aware if you are looking for a quiet getaway.

It is difficult to leave such a poor review of an establishment that I am so fond of, however, it needs to be done. Understanding that change is constant and that times are challenging, the Otesaga has not lived up to it's reputation of opulance. It used to be that the high cost of a room included the Friday night Manager's Reception (open bar / shrimp cocktail...), breakfast AND dinner (among others). Sadly none of these are now included in the extravigant cost.
While the entire staff and crew are to be commended for their courtesy and performance, the lodging was worthy of the 2 star review. Our 3rd floor king-bed room had ants(!). I can't tell you how unsettling it is to be lying in bed, preparing to sleep, and having (what is presumed to be) an ant crawl in your eye. They were present throughout the room, as well as the bathroom. Additionally, the shower water handle was so loose I expected it to fall off while in use. There were cracks in the bathroom wall.
This was a group function. In total, we had 7 guest rooms on various floors. Everyone else that came to our room commented (accurately) on how small our room was. I know that the unique layout of the hotel allows for the various room sizes. There was one other room similar in size to ours which garnered a lesser rate. Our room rate should have been similar but was equal to those that were much larger.
The hotel hosted a wedding on Saturday and the reception that night. Our 3rd floor room was directly above the reception hall. We were privvy to each dance beat and all the joyous laughter- both through the floor and window. Rooms within our vicinity should not be filled (or if they are, they should be greatly discounted) when such an event is scheduled.
As such, this will, unfortunately, be the last time we will be guests at this once-great juggernaut. For the price, we can easily get more room, intimacy and amenities at other 'luxury' resorts in the region.

I've been staying at the Otesaga regularly for the last 2 years, plus and my reviews are long over due! I will begin posting several reviews and recognizing outstanding team members and providing honest reviews of my stay, meals, service, etc. For this review, I'd like to reflect on the exquisite and unique experience the Otesaga offers. The rooms are quite unique. I've stayed in over 30 different rooms...I do have my favorites!! The views and the town are so welcoming to a non East Coaster. Oh, and right now, the seasonal crisp air, colors dripping down the mountains, leaves rustling and floating all around you provide an experience everyone should see and feel...and not just once, but often! The first person I'd like to recognize is Glenn. Initially, the accounting office and I negotiated a seasonal price based on the frequency and length of my expected travels to Cooperstown. Glenn recognized that I continuously got placed in the teeniest, loudest, viewless rooms and he reached out to offer better accommodations given the loyalty I was providing and the extended revenue from both my stays and frequent dinners and celebrations hosted at the Otesaga. He has made me incredibly comfortable since last Fall. He doesn't just do this though for a "regular". He is the type of person who truly wants to extend and ensure a comfortable, unique and memorable experience for every guest. During a very snowy week this Spring, he was all over the property trying to ensure the guests were warm and also trying to take care of the many, many energy workers who arrived to thaw out the town and surrounding areas. It was rough, but, he made it better for so many of us and he did it graciously and intensely. He is a lovely person and a very sincerely kind gentleman. I'm looking forward to another winter with him placing me in a great room and always looking out for me at my favorite "home-tel"!
As stated, I will provide additional reviews and recognitions from my many, many stays at The Otesaga over the last two years.
If you have the opportunity to go to this beautiful, lovely hotel, do spend the day there. Outside of baseball season is my favorite times...right now until Christmas and early, Spring, the town and the Otesaga make for a beautiful, quiet getaway!

Yes, agreed. Stayed there for 2 nights in late July. Why they are not opening the pool or other amenities makes little sense to as most private clubs have resumed these types of services. They told me it was a “corporate decision” which explains nothing. You’d think they’d at least drop their rates a little but nothing doing.
