We are a family of 3 with a 3YO son and the long awaited vacation couldn't have been better. The service, food, activities and hospitality were all bang on. My kid had great time in the Kids club- the staff here are friendly and caring. Their activities were engaging & fun-filled. The food at Vihamanaa buffet was pleasant with range and variety esp the dinners. Again here the staff are excellent, in particular Mahesh, who assisted us in dinning throughout our stay. He took special care of our preferences and went above and beyond to serve us with delight. The service is unmatched, he truly cares about your experience.
Just back from our third visit to Kurumba ( 1st in 2019 and 2nd in 2021). This time we booked the delux pool villa ( previous visits were in garden pool villas) and it certainly didn’t disappoint! We’ve had the most fantastic relaxing week. We booked the all inclusive and ate in each restaurant ( except the Arabic) and didn’t have a bad meal. Although our two childrens favourite was the japanese and I need to give a special mention to Robert - he is a fantastic chef and put on an amazing show ( we ended up going there twice). We ate lunch in the bar everyday - the staff in there are amazing! Special mention to April as she remembered my sons pizza order everyday. Although all the staff were fantastic and nothing was ever too much trouble. We did the sunset dolphin cruise which was amazing and the children enjoyed the paddle board/ kayak rental that was included in our meal plan most days. My husband and children did a discover scuba dive with on site Euro Divers. Valantina was both knowledgeable and patient and gave them all the most wonderful experience which they all loved and can’t wait to dive again. My husband lost his watch during the dive and they found it later that day which was amazing service from them! It is the staff that really make this resort. Along with the amazing food and facilities. Yes you can see Male and the planes taking off and landing however we were not bothered by this at any point! Thanks to all at Kurumba - can’t wait to go back in 2023 😍…
Unbelievable place, the food is not normal for a resort, the food is of such high level and the rooms are very comfortable. The island has got the best snorkling reef I’ve ever seen in Maldives. All in all it’s an amazing place to stay. Only thing for travellers who won’t be able to go Maldives often and experience the island feel, the airplanes do land and take off near the island. It doesn’t bother us really.
This was my 2nd time visiting this resort. Booked the pool villa. Whatever it says on the website for example: Daily afternoon cocktail at the bar listed in the website for premium stayers, it’s not. It’s in the evening. They should be more detailed because when I went to the bar and front desk, at first they said there was no such event or complimentary. When I gave them my room number and they checked, then yes, they do have. In room mini Bose bluetooth speaker. Not in my kids villa although stated in the website for Pool Villa stayers. When asked the reception, I was told that they no longer have this device in the room. But.. I do have it in my room but not in my kids’s and 2 other pool villa that my husband’s family was staying at. Breakfast spread was one of the worst spread for a ‘luxury resort’. This time round, Kurumba did not leave a good impact. More should be done to improve guest services. Especially the ranking ones because I experienced it while here. The supervisor on duty was not Giving eye contact and good vibes while we were talking and enquiring. So disappointed . I used to work in a service industry and this should not have happened at all in a once again ‘luxury resort’ which was always emphasised on their website.…
Kurumba was my first base for my first time in Maldives and I couldn’t chose better! I stayed there for 4 nights and it was lovely! The staff was very kind, the hotel very big and full of activities to do and the food so so good. My favorite place to eat was Thila Restaurant, they have a great choice of dishes. Thank you to Christine and Andrew to have made our vacation memorable.
Our first approach to Maldives couldn’t be better! Kurumba is a place for the heart where you feel relaxed since the first moment you step foot. Great service, very kind staff and beautiful locations with plenty of available activities. You can either just relax or do multiple things, time will fly! Our bungalow was very clean and with a beautiful open bathroom but yet very private and secure. Privacy is a very important matters here and it’s fully respected. Every restaurant is good but we recommend you to try Thila restaurant for its great seafood and special dishes. I also want to give a high positive note to Miss Christine and Mr Andrew to organize our program and its best, the Maldivian and the Indonesian guys who served us at Thila and the chef at the buffet resultant who prepared for us the best eggs Benedict’s with lots of care and love! We miss this place and I really hope to be back in the near future 🫶🏼…
Kurumba is amazing, everything I expected and more. The island is beautiful. Our accommodation was superb. Staff were so helpful and went above and beyond. Hoping to return next year. Totally recommend.
I genuinely don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone - Kurumba is THAT good! From arrival to departure, you are treated like royalty by the whole team. Be prepared to experience 'amazing' and be prepared to return for more!
This was our 3rd visit to Kurumba as a family. We last visited pre Covid in 2019. It is our 7th trip to the Maldives and we always look forward to visiting the islands . We chose Kurumba for our stay this time as we have always been highly impressed with the service , attention to detail, the food and the dine around all inclusive option. The island is less than a 10 minute boat ride from Male airport which makes it very convenient for families with young children. As we were only staying 5 nights this visit it made sense to stay closer to the airport. It was a shame we had to wait 40 minutes to take a boat to the island after meeting with the staff at the airport . There was a lot of unnecessary waiting around. Our arrival on the island was underwhelming. We had to wait 30 minutes to check in and get our room key. No one greeted us off the boat. No one informed us about our package or provided information about restaurant bookings, excursion bookings etc. The room was nice albeit a little dated. I know that many of the rooms are being updated over time. We stayed in a Beachfront deluxe bungalow. It was in a very good location. We did notice a lot of the little touches we had enjoyed on our previous visit missing. No robes in the room, no bottle of wine in the room on arrival, no beach bag for use during our stay. The hotel used to offer free in Villa dining for kids as the restaurants don’t open til 7pm for dinner, however this service has been discontinued . The pool was very nice as per previous visits. No lifeguard on duty. Small number of sun beds but the pool was generally quiet. Pool service starts at 10.30am. One thing we noticed this visit was that no ice buckets were provided with water next to the pool. The restaurants were fine. The cafe was good for food but service was very slow. They seemed understaffed and were having to go between the restaurant and the Kandu bar which meant there was often no one in the restaurant during dinner . The staff at the kandu bar were pleasant. We recognised many of the staff members from previous visits. Though I must comment that the staff didn’t appear to be as cheerful this visit. We were very disappointed to find out on our first morning that the Dine Around All Inclusive package was not the same as previous visits and was quite lacking. We had clarified with the reservation staff member over the phone prior to booking what the package included but when we arrived we were told that many of the benefits had been discontinued such was breakfast at the Thila restaurant, a complimentary photo shoot , complimentary use of the kayaks etc. plus many food and drink items on the menus. There was a surplus for many items this time that didn’t exist previously. When I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff they did apologise for the misinformation and reinstate the breakfast at Thila however it would put me off booking again as the buffet options for breakfast and dinner are not great. The Thila restaurant is lovely and the food is good quality. The service is much better in this restaurant compared to others. It is difficult to get bookings however for the Al la carte restaurants. It all needs to be done in advance of your stay and even then there is a lot of confusion and misinformation. The Japanese restaurant Hamakase is enjoyable. The food is nice and the staff were very friendly . The kids club was a disappointment. The activities were boring and the staff were not particularly interested in the kids. The schedule was often changed last minute and the kids always seemed to be just watching tv. Definitely something to bear in mind for those travelling with small children. The dolphin tour was fabulous. We were lucky to see several dolphins. The staff were good fun and made sure everyone enjoyed. I would recommend this excursion . There was one unfortunate incident whereby a staff member was quite unprofessional. We were waiting for the dolphin tour to begin. We arrived on time and were told to wait for the boats. There was no seating in the reception area so we walked outside to wait on the jetty.we were enjoying looking at the fish when we were approached by a member of staff to remove ourselves from the jetty. When we asked why she became quite over the top telling us “the big boss” was coming and we couldn’t be on the jetty at the same time as him. Sure enough someone arrived on a boat with an entourage of staff and we were reminded again by this staff member that he didn’t want people on the jetty while he was on it . Presumably this was the owner / manager of the resort. It was quite insulting to be told as a paying guest that the “big boss “ was too good to to be in our company. Certainly did not leave us with a good impression of the hotel and how they value their guests. Far from being welcoming the staff mostly made us feel quite unwelcome at times and this is certainly not the norm for the Maldives . We have always received a very warm reception at every resort we have stayed at and we have always been sad to leave. I believe Kurumba has lost its magic touch and we will stay elsewhere on our next visit.…
Just a short comfortable boat ride from Male Airport to the idyllic island resort of Kurumba. Excellent accommodation, fastidiously maintained, beautifully appointed set within glorious grounds of colourful trees, plants and shrubs. The beach bars are strategically placed around the lagoon and the main bar overlooks the interesting waterway back to Male. The restaurants are all superb. There are highly authentically themed eateries as well as first class grills and a wonderful buffet. The staff are highly service oriented as well as friendly and determined to make your stay a memorable one.
