What a fantastic experience. Emma and her staff are remarkable . It's a smaller Camp and I loved every minute of it. There's something special and charming about not having a lot of people around. The animals are beautiful and I will never forget my experience here. Being there just after the rainy season means there are not massive amounts...

The most impressive asset of this natural paradise was the staff managing it. We were met on arrival at the air strip by Luke. I can't recall the last greeting I received from a member of the tourist industry which was more polite, courteous and genuine. This warm hospitality combined with comprehensive knowledge of the bush, animals, birds and plants...

Visiting Hwange in green season might not give you the big number of animals but it gives a feeling of being alone in the park (we only saw one other car in three days). It also gives you animal babies and so many birds. Then having a guide (Charles) that is so great with birds gave us many new birds...

What a wonderful stay. We didn’t know what camp to pick, but thanks to Richard at ATR pointing us to Little Makalolo we had a truly wonderful time. It was recommended that we should stay 4 nights and for us this was about right. The camp has 6 tents which makes it a very personalised experience.. We had tent #3...

We spent an amazing 4 nights at Little Makalolo, arriving on Christmas Eve. Our game spotting activities far exceeded our expectations. Led by our fantastic guide Dickson, we saw both cheetahs and lions digesting their kills (from around 5 metres!), massive herds of elephants and buffalo, wild dog pups splashing in the shallows, hippos in and out of the water,...

Best stay on our safari trip. Little Mak is definitely a gem. Kim is a great hostess--always ready with a cool towel and manages everything so well. We have stayed at 7 safari camps in Botswana and Zimbabwe. This was our first trip into Zimbabwe. We were pleasantly surprised. A quite different yet equally good experience to that we enjoyed at Linkwasha. The more traditional and rustic layout lent itself to a more relaxing and homely environment. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Charming and intimate, Little Makalolo's location in the south-east of Hwange lends it a sense of seclusion and remoteness. Nestled into the treeline, the camp overlooks a productive waterhole that draws large numbers of wildlife, observed up close from the log-pile hide. Elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra are regular visitors, while special sightings include sable, roan and eland. The area is best explored on game drives and guided walks, with special extras like an unexpected pizza or a night spent under the stars on the Madison Pan star-bed platform. • 6 tents (1 family) • game drives • nature walks • Madison Pan star-bed • log-pile hide • village visits ... more   less
