We are travelling the length of east - south Africa and this place is one of the highlights so far! We set up a camp under the trees overlooking the water and stayed for 1 week over New Years. The party was amazing! The service is top! If u need anything, they will help you, or you can just stay...

I have just spent 8 days at Mayoka Village and I thank my lucky stars that I stumbled across it and chose to go there. Sure I can talk about the room and the food and service, which were all great, but what really stood out for me was the community warmth that Gary and Kathryn have created at Mayoka....

Mayoka was a really good decision to go! You can rent some stand-up paddles or a kajak for free at the lodge and enjoy the lake! It is a real hotspot for backpackers and therefore the staff is used to handle them. Food was good and the view from the balcony is amazing. Sanitary facilites were clean and a good...

this place literally felt like paradise. I was unlucky enough to only have enough time for one night here, but stayed in a beautiful dorm with the most stunning view of the lake. the food was incredible, the best pizza I had in Malawi, and incredible pancakes. a really short walk to Chikale beach, arguably the best beach of Lake...

Lovely staff, good food, amazing location with private swimming. The owners have made a lot of good relationships with locals and support the community in many ways. Nice set up with lots of nooks and crannys to sit in.

Rightly listed as number one place to stay in the bay. Cute huts built up the steep side of the lake make for good exercise. Hot water, baths, chill out places, great restaurant, lively bar, canoes, paddle boards, boat trips, fins and mask, for free use. Don't rely on wifi only 2 hours a day but often no electricity to...

We stayed a total of 3 nights at Mayoka, and I really wished that we could have stayed longer. Such a wonderful settings on the cliff, with beautiful, comfortable rooms, and a cozy bar/resturant area. The food was amazing, we were lucky to be there for their pizza night! Snorkeling right in front is easy and quite interesting. One of...

We spend 2 nights in an ensuite. The location is beautiful. Lots of free activities available like snorkling, standup paddle boards, canoes. Food is very good especially the yoghurt and the pizza. There is a shortcut to walk into town. If you have a walking disability this is not the place to go. Everything is connected by steep stairs. And...

Its a stunning place and a must-stop-shop in Malawi. My only regret is that I should have stayed here and in the North a bit longer as Lilongwe was a bit of a waste of time. We had one big problem that happened during our stay in Nkhata Bay that wasn't really Mayoka Village's problem, but the owner, Gary, was...
