Four tents, a wonderful staff and incredible wildlife viewing. We had a lioness and her two cubs show up for breakfast, then the male came and took the two cubs off to play while the lioness wandered up into the tent area. The plains are beautiful, the red lechwe and puku everywhere and the hippos noisy all night. An elephant...

Dear margotsmorgage, "Outstanding" is high praise indeed and we are delighted that this is what Busanga Bush Camp meant to you - especially if you have been on safari before. The Kafue is a wonderfully remote destination and while getting there might take a while in small bush planes, we would agree that it is absolutely worth it! The lions...

Stayed 4 nights in August 2016. The tent was comfortable and clean and perfectly outfitted. The service and the food were outstanding - some of the best food I've had in the bush. The team was really fantastic - from the guide to the bartender to the wait staff -- couldn't have asked for more. While we were there we...

Dear Casey T, What wonderful feedback! High praise indeed and we so appreciate your personal recommendation. How exciting to have the lions come into camp - although I am sure the staff weren't so happy about the damage to the chair and loss of a bucket! While they are still very much wild animals that need to be treated with...

We arrived at Busanga bush camp after a small plane flight onto a dirt strip. Then we began seing the local animals en route to our luxury camp. They have no wifi and cell phones do not work. Solar power is used to charge batteries and provide lights in the evening. There is a fire pit for breakfast and dinner....

Busanga Bush Camp is around 90 minutes by air from Livingstone in the Kafue NP. A small came of only 4 tents. The accommodation is spacious and with all the amenities. Each tent overlooks the plain. Busanga Bush Camp is located in the far north of Kafue National Park. It is not a heavily visited area which really enhances the feeling of being in the African bush. The camp is situated in a stand of trees on the edge of a grassy plain where game was plentiful. Leah and Raphael managed the camp during our visit...

The ad said “book 3, stay 4 nights, and get a free balloon ride”, and that at a special SADC rate! (The 1 ½ hr flight from Lusaka to Busanga return was extra.) And so we went. It's really far from everything and the lanscape was interesting. It's totally flat and somehow resembled me of Serengeti. However, it wasn't possible to drive everywhere due to chanels here and there. Also the ground was very uneven and bumpy so almost all driving was on tracs for cars. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Seasonal camp running 01 June - 01 November. In the heart of the Busanga Plains, nestled within a vegetated 'island' of fig trees, Busanga Bush Camp epitomises the African safari experience. Whether at camp or out and about in the park, extraordinary wildlife and incredible birding encounters await! This intimate camp only offers four en-suite tents, each well placed within the web of trees for your privacy. Breakfast is often served in our lounge area, beautifully appointed to take in the stunning sunrise and misty view of herds of red lechwe, puku and roan in front of camp. Dining takes place under the shady canopy of a majestic tree lit up by an unusual lantern chandelier offering a romantic setting. Did you know? We employ eight game scouts seconded from the Zambian Wildlife Authority who conduct anti-poaching patrols from our camp year round. The Lufupa River overflows in summer, creating a large floodplain delta system dotted with miombo woodland. The Lunga and Kafue rivers are wide and slow-flowing, banded by riverine forest. Your activities will include game drives (day and night), guided walks and seasonal hot air ballooning. The Plains are home to hundreds of red lechwe, puku, roan, oribi, Lichtenstein's hartebeest, wildebeest, zebra and buffalo - a big attraction for predators which include wild dog, cheetah and lion. The bird life is certainly an attraction as the park boasts 491 species. ... more   less
