The friendliest staff in the land, especially the Front Desk. I don't know why anybody ever complains about decor in Ethiopia. Did they go there on an Interior Design spotting trip? This place is set in one of the most spectacular places in the world and reviewers complain that the bathroom is tired or they don't like the curtains?! Extraordinary....

This hotel is considered upscale in the guidebooks. We found it tired and somewhat dirty. The room was tired; the bathroom was in need of minor repairs. The room fan wouldn't rotate. The restaurant was fine for breakfast. We had a great spicy omelet, the best omelet of the trip. The front desk is helpful.

A good hotel to spend a couple of nights while taking in the local sights. Everything worked as it should even though the room decor was a bit tired.Well positioned with pleasant grounds and plenty of bird-life. The dining room is a well-decorated, double height room opening onto a terrace.

Spent 2 nights here at the start of our 2 week tour. Would certainly benefit from a bit of tlc and some investment. The hotel has a lot of potential, as it is in a great location, but is very tired looking. Rooms are a bit shabby and it felt a bit neglected. Staff were generally lovely, and very obliging....

Another one-night stop. The grounds need a lot of work, the buildings/facilities are a little dated, but all very clean and serviceable. Efficient and friendly staff. Comfortable bedrooms, cramped bathrooms. Decent wi-fi in the lobby area. Restaurant menu was basic, and food was good. Breakfast offerings seemed a bit plain, so we ordered two different dishes and combined - worked...

Trendy hotel with thematic rooms. Simple but well decorated. Rooms were quite dark. Beds were small and very hard. Shower was very hot. Hotel service was great and the food was excellent. Good location and quiet. Wifi was excellent.

On arrival the hotel appeared to be slightly dated, the rooms were very basic and the bathrooms needed a lot of work. We decided that it was best not to shower due to the lack of hot water. The rooms seemed clean but they were damp. I slept in my sleeping bag as the beds had seen better days. The...

We stayed at this hotel just one night, so not much experience to share. The hotel is clean and not too far from the churchs. The food is just avarage, not comparable to our experience at Goha hotel in Gonder. Pricing is on the higher side for the area, we were able to negotiate with the manager, a very decent...

We stayed here 3 nights. After visiting the nice city of Lalibela or around, it is good to come to this hotel and to relax. This is a luxury hotel with a nice restaurant. The rooms are OK, with a little bit of problems inside (old stuffs), but nothing really bad.

I knew Lalibela was a small town, and I had been in Ethiopia for a month before I arrived there, so I was not expecting luxury at the Roha. However, guides and others in the town kept stating that it was an excellent hotel, and the Bradt guide described it as"upmarket", so I was expecting better than this. First, the...
