We are from Oregon and were visiting friends in New York for the purpose of hiking and seeing the fall foliage. We wanted to hike Mt Marcy and the Indian Head trail so needed a place to overnight. This hotel is located right in the middle of town and the upper floor rooms that face the town have a great...

Having stayed in a Ascend Hotel Collection before, we were taken back by this one. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad place, just not what we expected, which was a very clean, new, up-dated, modern hotel. Now it didn't say anywhere that it was going to be all of this, it's just the last Ascend Hotel we...

The hotel dates back to the late 1800s and is in the middle of Main Street. It apparently had a recent renovation and our room was fine and comfortable. The only problem was that the carpets all need a good cleaning and vacuuming. Not one carpet in the lobby, corridor, elevator or room was without an element of debris on...

Fine place to sleep and be near downtown restaurants. We were in 502 which was nice and very clean. Recently renovated/re-decorated. You could hear muffled voices from other rooms/floor above. Amusing! But we did not lose sleep. However, you could get unlucky... Staff were friendly and location is great. Breakfeast downstairs was quite good at a reasonable price. This is...

This is a cheap, conveniently located, spacious room with a comfy bed and ok staffing. After that, you need to move on and just enjoy the region, because it is amazingly beautiful. The view from the room is a joke (do NOT pay extra as we did!) - mostly of the roof of the building across the street. The wifi...

Room on the 5th floor was clean, but the mini-refrigerator was broken and the shower generated a horrible hissing noise when turned on. Add a strange funky smell in the 5th floor hallway, paper thin walls, paucity of parking, and the ridiculous 4pm (STRICT) check-in time I would look elsewhere. Complimentary earplugs are a must. For what you pay for...

The price was reasonable and the room was a lot bigger and nicer than I was expecting. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was a bit dicey with small parking spaces but there was overflow parking alternatives.
