You expect a first class experience when you come to a facility which charges $400 a night. It turned out to be an outstanding stay and quite a value. They included free valet parking and a substantial breakfast buffet. The nightly S'Mores fire and chocolate...More
Our annual conference was held in Lake Placid and our group stayed at the Whiteface Lodge. This place is breathtaking! I highly recommend anyone traveling to Placid to stay here, you will not be disappointed.
Stunning public areas, beautiful grounds and pool complex, and spacious, clean well equipped suites. We stayed in a Junior Suite ( One queen plus a sleeper sofa) which was fine for our family of 4. A full kitchenette is included along all accessories and a...More
I can't say enough about our visit to the lodge. I was doing a 2000 mile trek for 7 days with my son while looking at colleges. I planned in a relaxation day to Lake Placid while we were on our way to the Univ...More
Stayed here 5 nights for a conference and we were very happy. I thought as a joke I would point out some flaws. Light in fridge is not bright enough, cookies they give you are not vegan, dryer dries too slow, too many amenities -...More

Breakfast was big and hearty and amazing. I brought some craft beers with me and had one in the movie theater, one in the pool area, and so on. Nobody seemed to notice. I don't think I'd hunker down in front of a fireplace with a cooler, per se....but a discreet beer or cocktail here or there is unlikely to draw any attention.

yes the hotel has very good food is pricey so what we would do is order pizza and wings from one of the local places they deliver it right to the room for the kids and then we would go have a nice dinner at Kanu....
last month we had dinner at Nicolas with two families and had six children all under the age of 10.... the food was absolutely delicious every meal is hand compared scrumptious pizzas were delicious too....
.. but they didn't have a dedicated kids menu so we just had to order them some shells with sauce.... a little pricey of a place to take children but worth it if you want a really good Italian food that's genuine..
plus being a small town its restaurants hve to be good... they're not going to last very long so the established businesses have been doing something right for many years.... they have to keep the locals in the tourists happy....
