My husband booked this hotel for a fall weekend getaway, and I when I read the reviews I was slightly nervous - not because I care about the petty things people wrote about, but because I always want to have a real experience when I go somewhere. I very rarely write reviews, but thought I owed it to the travelers... More

Not all rooms or beds here are the same. Where were the posturedic, comfortable beds others wrote of?? Ours were old, uncomfortable, and saggy. The pillows were no better. We had a small tight room with two double beds. There is no elevator for guests' use. Bathroom was tight with not enough towel racks for our towels and no place... More

No elevators. There's a flight of stairs up to get to the lobby and more stairs for the first and second, etc.floors. No ice machines on the floor. No blackout shades or blinds. No refrigerators or microwaves in the room. No hair dryers nor cream rinse in the shower. Outdated bedding. Very Uncomfortable beds and pillows. I've seen other reviews... More

This is Jill - and I just want to say ... I did not "attack" you and I definitely did not call you a name. Our entire conversation at the front desk was about the fact that you came to the desk after 9pm (which is when we turn in) and you (in your own words ...) "Misread the sign"... More

I found the owners to be very pleasant - you definitely feel like you've just arrived at a family's charming home. But if you have trouble with steps, this place is not for you. We were on the second floor but if you consider the outside steps up to lobby, it's a 3 flight walk and with heavy luggage, no... More

Very friendly owners. Had an issue with hot water upon arrival so no hot shower till much later. Older hotel that is in need of some updating, old carpets, peeling wallpaper. Room was clean, bed was pretty hard. No blow dryers in room or ice machine. The hot tub is very nice. Location is good. Luckily I got a great... More

If you want to step back in time at a delightfully appointed and rustic inn this is the place. Nearly 100 year old inn located within walking distance of Mirror Lake in Lake Placid. If not on the list of historic buildings, it should be. It's like lodging in the heyday of the 20's and 30s in the Adirondack Mountains.... More

Just a bit out of town but on the secondary main drag in Lake Placid is the Pines Inn. It is a place of another time but is very well maintained with eager accommodating and friendly staff. The rooms are large as are the bathrooms and everything is immaculate. An big enhancement would be to include a mini fridge in... More

My husband just whisked me away on a surprise trip to Lake Placid for my bday. He did the hotel bookings and we stayed here for one night. Based on the other reviews, it wasn't the cheapest of hotels but it was certainly good for what we needed. It was a clean building, close walking distance to the downtown main... More

Tons of charm, prime location, incredibly comfortable beds, very friendly staff. Stayed here for 1 night after 3 nights of camping so, needless to say, we appreciated the king-size pedic mattresses. It really looks and feels like an old lodge; a night here was a great end to a great Adirondack vacation.
